Cemetery Look up volunteers
This page is set up by the home page or originating page of various external sites, and then the cemeteries transcribed by the individual agencies are listed alphabetically by each agency. This was done, in case each agency made an addition which did not appear here at the time of the latest page update. Then the various agencies involved in placing cemetery photographs and their tombstones online are available for the WWW researcher. Cemeteries transcribed by web project are listed at the time of posting here, so this page is searchable by using the find feature on your browser or using "Control F". Some of these websites are undergoing additions as they are themselves cemetery transcription projects, so by listing webpages by their title, they may be individually visited to check for further updates. If an update is noted on an external website, please drop me an email and I will update this listing. It is wonderful to have so many agencies and individuals involved in preserving cemetery information online for Saskatchewan.

Canada Gen Web Cemetery Project - Saskatchewan Cemetery Project features submitted transcripts searchable by ancestor's name for all of Canada or Saskatchewan or by cemetery! Check out this cemetery transcriptions/photographs online project.

Search SASKATCHEWAN PLACENAMES provides the regional gen web area (access given then to regional resources, query boards, posting boards and look up volunteers), to seek out further information on local cemeteries and connect with local volunteers and fellow researchers in the immediate area. Invaluable as historically there were over 3,000 placenames proper in Saskatchewan, (over 3,000 placenames not including over 300 contemporary and defunct Rural Municipality names or the close to 6,000 Saskatchewan One Room School District names). Placenames which changed names which are noted. This comprehensive listing identifies historic communities which have become unincorporated areas and may not be listed on contemporary Saskatchewan maps.

Saskatchewan Cemetery Indexes New Cemeteries website complete with maps are online via the Saskatchewan Genealogical Society and the cemeteries are searchable by community, Rural Municipality (RM) Name, RM Number, Religion, Owner/Operator, Unnamed, Cemteries with links. The results show if the SGS has transcribed the cemetery and if such are listed in the above Saskatchewan Cemetery Index. The results also show if the index for this cemetery can be found on microfilm at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints family history centres.

Saskatchewan Cemeteries Series 1, 2, and 3 compiled by the Saskatchewan Genealogical Society and put into the Family History library at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are now not only on microfilm, but also are searchable online. Transcripts of tombstones from various cemeteries. Upon looking up this record, a card is revealed, each card has a number, for example, 152.5. The corresponding municipality and cemetery for that number is found in the cemetery key listing in the wiki article about the collection. "Learn more”

Also, via the SGS, the Cemetery index, burial index and Saskatchewan residents index (SRI) are now online and are searchable by surname and given name. For a fee you can request full disclosure of the entire record source.

SGS Online Saskatchewan Burial Index searchable by name

SGS Online Saskatchewan Residents Index searchable by name

Also, via the SGS, the RCMP Royal Canadian Mounted Police Index 1933-1989 is now online and has information on those personnel who have fallen with service in the North West Mounted Police, the Royal North West Police or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as published by the RCMP Quarterly magazine.

Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates are ordered from the Department of Vital Statistics c/o the ICS agency and certain dates can be looked up and searched online. Saskatchewan Courts handle Will and Probate records. See also Newspapers for more information on obituary records.

If you have any cemetery transcriptions you wish to have added to Saskatchewan Gen Web please email the Web Master and a web page can be created for it and published on Sask Gen Web listing yourself as submitter/author. The wonderful thing about cemetery transcripts typed up is they can be added to a searchable database online. If you have a digital camera and wish to photograph your local cemetery and tombstones, you may email your photos in and a web page can be created for them listing yourself as photographer/copyright owner. If anyone is available for typing photos online please email that you would love to volunteer and have that cemetery added to the online database to assist other genealogists/historians.
