THOMAS C. DAVIS.
Thomas C. Davis, mayor of Prince Albert, is engaged in the practice of law here under the firm name of Halliday & Davis. He was born in Prince Albert, on the 6th of September, 1889, a son of Thomas Osborne and Rebecca Bond (Jennings) Davis, the former a native of Quebec, of Irish ancestry, and the latter of Prince Edward Island, likewise of Irish descent. Thomas Osborne Davis was educated in the schools of Quebec until he was ten years of age. At that time he went to the United States and there resided until 1880, when he came to Prince Albert and engaged in trading with the Indians. In 1896 he was elected to Parliament and was reelected in 1900. In 1904 he was appointed Senator and was serv- ing in that capacity at the time of his death, on the 23d of January, 1919, when sixty-one years of age. Mr. Davis accomplished much good work while a member of the legislative bodies, for he always had the interests of his people at heart. He was highly respected and esteemed and his fellowmen expressed deep sorrow at his passing. Mrs. Davis survives her husband and is living in Prince Albert. Prince Albert afforded Thomas C. Davis his early educational ad- vantages and after graduating from high school he enrolled in St. John's College at Winnipeg and Osgoode Hall in Toronto, studying law in the latter institution. He was admitted to the bar in 1914. He returned to Prince Albert and formed a partnership with F. W. Halliday, King's Counsel, under the name of Halliday & Davis. In 1921 Mr. Halliday passed away and since that time Mr. Davis has practiced independently, although the style of the firm has not been changed. He enjoys an ex- tensive clientele, handling much important litigation before the courts and occupies a position of prominence at the district and provincial bars. Aside from the practice of law Mr. Davis has farming interests in the district. In July of the year 1917, Mr. Davis was married to Miss Charlotte M. Bryant of Boston, Massachusetts, who is prominent in club and social circles of this town. In his political views Mr. Davis is a Liberal and he has always maintained an active interest in local affairs. He was elected city alderman in 1916 and continued in that office until 1920, when he was elected mayor. He has been reelected each year since that time, which is evidence enough of his abilities as a public official. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Saskatchewan Bar Association and the Prince Albert Bar Association, and holds membership in the Rotary Club and the Prince Albert Golf Club. His religious faith is manifest in his attendance at the Anglican church. Prince Albert is proud to number Mr. Davis among her native sons, for he has been a dominant factor in promoting the growth and development of this town and has proven himself a worthy representative of the legal profession.
