CHARLES H. CARRUTHERS, M. D.
Dr. Charles H. Carruthers is engaged in the active practice of medi- cine in Star City as a member of the firm of Brigham & Carruthers. He was born at Point Edward, Ontario, on the 8th of January, 1895, a son of Herbert James and Lydia Marian (O'Neil) Carruthers. His par- ents are natives of Ontario. For many years Mr. Carruthers has been engaged as a locomotive engineer on the Canadian National Railroad. The public schools of Sarnia, Ontario, afforded Charles H. Carruthers his preliminary education and subsequently he enrolled in the Collegiate Institute. He worked on the boats of the Northern Navigation Company for thirteen summers and then entered Queen's University at Kingston, from which institution he was graduated with the M. D. degree in 1919. He then went to The Pas, where he practiced until June, 1919, when he came to Star City and subsequently formed a partnership with Dr. L. W. Brigham, extended mention of whom is made elsewhere in this work. They practice under the name of Brigham & Carruthers and enjoy an extensive and ever-increasing patronage. On the 8th of June, 1919, Dr. Carruthers was married to Miss Ileen Belton and they have become parents of two boys: Bruce, born on the 27th of July, 1920; and Wallace, born on the 5th of November, 1921. Dr. Carruthers has always given his support to the Liberal party and is vice president of the Liberal Association. He is a trustee of the local school board and health officer of Star City. Along strictly professional lines he holds membership in the British Medical Association and the Saskat- chewan Medical Association. Fraternally he is identified with the Masons and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He is a member of the local Board of Trade and socially is connected with the Star City Golf Club. His religious faith is that of the Presbyterian church. Bibliography follows:
