A. B. Allard. Captain. Reserve of Officers. Aide-de-Camp to His Honor, the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. Superintendent of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Officer commanding, Southern Sas- katchewan District. Was born in the city of Quebec on the 25th of Sep- tember, 1822. Son of James and Leda (Fraser) Allard. The father was possessed of means and led a retired life. He, too, was a native of Quebec. His wife was born in Inverness, Scotland, and reared in the Presbyterian faith. Both are deceased. They were the parents of two children, one of whom has passed away, leaving the subject of this sketch, their only living child. He was privately educated in Quebec by tutors and attended mili- tary schools in Halifax, as well as in his birthplace. Major Allard's first experience outside of his home and the schoolroom was gained as captain in the 3rd Royal Canadian Regiment, in which he he served from 1900 to 1903; after again attending military school he was appointed an Inspector in the North West Mounted Police in 1904. From he was Aide-de-Camp to the Lieutenant Governor of the Northwest~ Territories, and has been Aide-de-Camp to the Lieutenant Governors of wan ever since. Following his return from overseas service, in the Great war in 1919, he was promoted to Superintendent in the Royal North West Mounted Police and Officer commanding, Southern Saskatchewan District. He went across to France in 1918, with the Royal North West Mounted Police unit and returned to Canada the following year. On the 9th of May; 1918, occuried Major Allard's marriage to Miss Margaret Gillis Morrison, daughter of the late Rev. Malcolm Morrison, Presbyterian clergyman. Mrs. Allard was horn in Skye, Scotland, and educated in her native land. Major and Mrs. Allard are the parents of daughter: Dorothy Margarct, who wa~ born on the 21st of February, 1919. True to her early teaching Mr. Allard maintains her membership in the Presbyterian church, while Major Allard is an Anglican. He is a Mason, his affiliations in that order being with the North West Mounted Police Lodge, No.11, A. F. & A. M., of which he is past master; the Royal Arch chapter and a member of the preceptory. For several years he has acted on the executive committee of the United Service Club, of which he is a member. He is an honorary patron of the Regina Amateur Foot- ball League and belongs to the Regina Golf Club, associations that indi- cate the trend of his interests outside of his work and his family. His public record speaks for itself and he is regarded as one of Regina's substantial citizens. Bibliography follows:
