Bone Trail
An artistic rendering of a trail made with 2 ruts. The early settlers would use Red River Cart and Steamship to get to their homestead on the prairies before the trains were established in Saskatchewan. The Red River Carts were a two wheel wagon built entirely of wood and pulled by an ox. There would be a series of ruts created, often the trail would be 16 ruts wide, as the ox pulling a cart would walk in the wheel rut of the cart ahead of it. These trails were first used by the native population as during times of hunting buffalo, later they were used by those traders travelling between early forts, then they were used at the turn of the century for the early homesteaders coming to lay claim to their land..
