We are planning, God willing, to visit Kindersley/Flaxcombe this coming August. My mother is accompanying us. She was born near Flaxcombe in 1920, but emigrated to Britain in about 1934. Her mother died in 1921 and she would like to visit her grave. She remembers she was buried in the church at Flaxcombe. No doubt there is now more than one church and the place will have altered beyond recognition in 65 years! If there is any information you can let us have which might help us we would be very grateful. Also if there are any relatives who still live in the area. Her mother's name was Ellen Elizabeth. She died in Kindersley hospital on October 13 1921, but was buried at Flaxcombe church. Her husband's name was Joseph Arthur Green.

My father, Albert Peters, was born in Biggar in Nov 1911. My Grandmother Anna (Annie) Peters nee Stubb died in Dec 1918 during a flu epidemic. My Grandfather, Heindrich J. Peters (maybe he was called "Harry") emigrated to Canada from South Dakota to homestead. According to my father, now deceased, my grandfather failed to improve on the homestead and then reentered the US after my grandmother's death. I've sent the requisite forms to Vital Statistics in Regina requesting a copy of my father's birth certificate and my grandmother's death certificate. I'm attempting to gather information from the land patent case files which may contain other valuable info. In order to do that, I'll need the legal description of the homesteaded land in order to get information from the National Archives. How can I do that? Is there a record, indexed by name that I can access to get that info?

Map If you order this record from the National Archives, you receive letter of patent, if you order from Provincial Archives, you receive all the homestead application forms and correspondence between homesteader and the provincial land titles office. Anything of genealogical import at the provincial archives is also on microfilm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

My mother (Olive Flack) was born at 'Whitings Farm' in Melfort in 1928. She also remembers 'Dam Farm' 'Beavers Creek' and 'Golf Link farm'. The Carters came from England after the first world war - my grandad farmed there ( a quarter section ??) - they all returned to the UK in 1934 - but my mother recalls her memories in the notes on her genealogy page @ http://pages.britishlibrary.net/jim.flack/ - and it would be interesting for anyone of that time period to let me know their recollections of 'the times' as my mother would be MOST interested now.
