DIED FOR HIS COUNTRY Lt. G. H. LUFFMAN son of Mr. and Mrs. A. c. Luffman of Landis was killed in action August 1 (1944) while serving in France with a 'British Infantry' unit. In Landis Harry Luffman took an active part in social acitivities of the school and community, and played a prominent part in the presentations of Landis Dramatic Society. He was born in Saskatoon June 12, 1920, and received most of his early education at Brock and Strasbourg. He completed his high school education at Landis in 1938 and was on the staff of the North Battleford News from 1939 to the time of his enlistment. He was a Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps, but he was serving with the Durham Light Infantry as a CANLOAN Officer. Shortly after D-Day he stepped on a mine near Caen, France. He is buried at Hottot-les-Bagues War Cemetery, Calvados, France. |
