First established in 1907 as a Sod School. Then a frame school house was used between 1908-1951 at Section 22 Township 42 Range 20 West of the third meridian. The students were then bussed into Cloan, and the school building became the Cloan United Church 1951-1964. In July of 2008, a centennial anniversary for Ovenstown School District 1802 was held. Facts excerpted from a display in the Clayton McLain Memorial Museum Webmaster note: The school is still standing, but not at its original location Ovenstown post office was located at Sec.32, Twp.42, R.20, W3 opened in 1905 and in 1912 the name changed to Rock Haven Cloan post office was located at Sec.30, Twp.42, R.19, W3 in 1912 and then moved nearby to NW 1/4 Sec.11, Twp.42, R.40, W3, and closing in 1968.77 Unity One Room Schoolhouses Ovenstown School |
