Strassburg / Last Mountain Valley School District 92 From the chapter of the same name by H.A.Pirie In 1887 a petition was sent to establish a school district, and permissions were granted. A log school building was erected on SW section 22 township 24 range 21, and the first records of a teacher were in 1888. Boundaries were changed in 1888, and no records of school activity between the years 1892-1899. In 1914, a new frame school building was erected "where the NE corner meets the SE corner of section 21 Tonwship 24 Range 21". As STRASSBURG STATION SD NO 1542 formed in 1905, the Deputy Minister requested a name change for STRASSBURG PROTESTANT PUBLIC SD NO 92. Therefore in 1914, the name became LAST MOUNTAIN VALLEY SD #92. There was another boundary change, the school survived the economic depression and drought years of the 1930s, finally closing following the school term of 1958. The school building was sold, and became a family home Excerpted from this source: Between Long Lake and Last Mountain : Bulyea, Duval, Strasbourg : Volume 1 Schwandt, Marie Strasbourg, Bulyea, Duval History Book Committee Strasbourg Region (Sask.)--History and Biography Publication Information Strasbourg, Bulyea, Duval History Book Committee Strasbourg, Saskatchewan 1982 |
