As can be seen, the A index has the transcription initiated. This is a work in progress for all the indices - to name the schools online - throughout the clippings file. Please be patient, yet, you may enjoy the images in the meanwhile as the transcribing is being undertaken. The images are batched four at a time, as described below, and the papers are rather online alphabetically. There may seem to be anomalies with schools added which do not seem to belong to the "A" index for example, however at times school information were "Batched" by consolidated school grouping and therefore, the "A" school would have its neighbourhood schools data along with the information for the "A" schools. For further publication use, please contact the archives branch, thank you. Each original page was 8-1/2 x 11 inch letter size format. Online each page is divided into four lengthwise, labelled "a" for the top quarter, then "b", "c" and finally "d" for the bottom quarter to enable a larger type face for online publication. Each online segment, a,b,c,d overlaps each other slightly to not loose information between segments. On your keyboard, hold the control key at the same time as the + key to enlarge further, and the control key at the same time as the - key to reduce in viewing size. The schools listed here are not the complete one room schools ever in existence, but rather a sampling. If anyone wishes to contribute the teacher listing (trustees, school location, dates) for any missing schools, it would be appreciated and would make a much more comprehensive listing, and such listings would then be added, with a credit to the submitter of the additional information. |
