
THOMAS WILLOUGHBY WALKER, M.D.
One of the foremost specialists in Saskatoon and the district and
is Dr. Thomas Willoughby Walker, who successfully practiced
in this city since 1910. He was born in Bethany, Ontario, on the 4th of
December, 1877, a son of Robert and Anne (Hathaway) Walker. His
father was for years a minister in the Methodist Church and lived in Ont-
tario, where he held many important charges. His death occurred in 1903
and brought deep sorrow to his family and many friends.
In the pursuit of his education Thomas Willoughby Walker attended
the public schools of his birthplace and the high schools at Walkerton
and Wierton. In due time he enrolled in Toronto University, from which
he received the B. A. degree in 1899 and the M. D. degree in 1903. In
1910 he came to Saskatoon and has since practiced here. He specializes
in diseases of the chest and has won a widespread reputation for his
work along that line. Upon the outbreak of the Great war he was quick
to put all personal interests aside and enlist in the Medical Officers West-
ern Universities Battalion. He was second in command of Medicine No.
XV, Canadian General Hospital at Taplow, England, and 0. C. Medicine
No. IV, C. C. S. in France.
In New York, on the 16th of May, 1904, Dr. Walker was married to
Miss Jean Mathewson Newsom, a daughter of Samuel Newsom. Dr. and
Mrs. Walker have one child: Eleanor Hathaway.
