MORDAUNT C. TOMLINSON.
 


	Prominent among the public officials of Saskatoon is Mordaunt C.
Tomlinson, city clerk. He was born in London, England, on the 2d of
December, 1887, a son of Thomas R. and Celia (Rogers) Tomlinson, like-
wise natives of that country.  Mr. Tomlinson was a cabinetmaker in
England until 1907, when he came to Canada and located at Saskatoon.
He resumed his trade here and was active in that connection until 1919,
when he removed to Vancouver. He is now retired from active business
life, and he and his wife are representative citizens of the community in
which they now make their home.
	Mordaunt C. Tomlinson received his education in the public schools
of Hanley, England, and after putting his textbooks aside he made his
initial step into the business world. He worked in a local office for a
few years and in 1907, at the age of twenty years, came to Saskatoon
with his parents. He became an accountant with the McDonald Com-
pany, wholesale grocers, and remained in their employ until 1912, when
he went to work for the city as assistant city clerk. He discharged the
duties of that office in a manner to command the confidence and respect
of all and in 1921 he was made city clerk, which position he has since
held. Mr. Tomlinson is also Registrar of Vital Statistics for the provin-
cial government.
	The religious faith of Mr. Tomlinson is that of the Anglican church
and he served as a vestryman during 1921 and 1922. He has an enviable
reputation as a careful man of business and in his dealings is known
for his prompt and honorable methods, which have won him the de-
served and unbounded confidence of his fellowmen.  He is one of the
representative and most popular public officials of Saskatoon.
