HERBERT GILPIN SPARLING.
A prominent barrister of Battleford is Herbert Gilpin Sparling, a
member of the firm of Sparling & Mighton. He was born at St. Mary's,
Ontario, on the 27th of September, 1878, a son of Robert W. and Martha
(Gilpin) Sparling, the former a native of Tipperary, Ireland, and the
latter of County Armagh. Robert W. Sparling came to Canada with his
parents in 1843, when three years of age. On reaching manhood he en-
gaged in farming and followed that line of work in Perth county for the
remainder of his life. His death occurred in December, 1902, when sixty-
two years of age. Mrs. Sparling survives him and is residing in St.
Mary's, at the age of eighty-four years.
