He is a native of the United States, his birth occurring at Columbia,

and Hattie J. (Pearson) Smith, natives of Missouri. The father was

The public schools of Boone county afforded Ernest P. Smith his pre-

a small country store, which he operated for some time. His boyhood
ambition was to become a professional man and eventually he enrolled in
the American School of Osteopathy at Kirksville, Missouri, from which
institution he was graduated on the 22d of June, 1897. He immediately
commenced to practice in Jefferson City, Missouri, and later removed to
Fargo, North Dakota, where he assisted in the establishment of the
Northwestern College & Infirmary of Osteopathy, and was president of that
institution for two years, when it was purchased by the American School
of Osteopathy. Dr. Smith went to St. Louis, Missouri, and practiced
there for some time, later removing to North Carolina, and from North
Carolina to Columbia, Missouri, several years later locating in Belling-
ham, Washington, where he practiced until the 1st of November, 1915,
and then came to Canada, locating in Camrose, Alberta. In August of
the year 1916 he came to Saskatoon and has since practiced here. He
has an extensive, important and lucrative patronage and stands high
among the foremost members of his profession in the province.
On the 3d of October, 1898, Dr. Smith was married to Miss Anna C.
Hildebrand and they have one child: Francis M., whose birth occurred on
