ROBERT J. REID.
 


	The legal profession of Saskatchewan finds a worthy representative
in Robert J. Reid, of Tisdale, senior member of the firm of Reid & Wilson.
He was born at Holstein, Ontario, on the 3d of January, 1886, a son of
William K. and Emily (Vayson) Reid, the father a native of Dumfries,
Scotland, and the latter of Ontario, and of English descent. In his early
manhood William K. Reid taught in the country schools, having qualified
while engaged in pioneer farming. He was an ambitious man and took
advantage of the home course in arts offered by the Toronto University
while teaching.  He followed that profession until he was sixty-three
years of age, at which time he went into the insurance business, and
continued therein to the time of his death, in June, 1915. Mrs. Reid died
in September, 1893.
	Robert J. Reid was reared in Durham and Mount Forest, Ontario, and
there attended the public and high schools. Upon the completion of his
high school course he went to Regina, where in 1904 he enrolled in the
Normal School.  Subsequently he taught school in northern Saskatche-
wan until 1910, when he was articled to Hon. James McKay, K. C., now
Justice, and afterward to Colonel J. H. Lindsay, K. C., of Prince Albert.
He was called to the bar in March, 1915, and immediately became asso-
ciated in practice with Lindsay & Mudie, with whom he remained for
one year. In January, 1916, he commenced practice at Tisdale and has
since resided here.  In January, 1923, he took into partnership Charles
J.Wilson, and the firm is known as Reid & Wilson.  For a number of   
years Mr. Reid has been town solicitor of Tisdale and the firm represents 
the town of Tisdale and the municipality of Connaught, the Bank of    
Nova Scotia, the Saskatchewan Lumber Company, Limited, the Union
Trust Company, Limited, the Excelsior Life Insurance Company andothers.
In December of the year 1915 Mr. Reid was married to Miss Alice
Jaycock of Wadena, Saskatchewan, and they have become the parents
of three children: Douglas, born on the 27th of February, 1917; Dorothy,
born on the 21st of March, 1921; and Marjorie, born on the 19th of
September, 1928.
	Mr. Reid follows an independent course in politics.  He has been
secretary of the local Board of Trade and is now its treasurer, and he
has served on the school board. During the Great war he was secretary
of the Belgian Relief committee, chairman of the Victory Loan committee
and during the influenza epidemic was chairman of the health board
specially appointed to meet the emergency.  Along strictly professional
lines he is identified with the Law Society of Saskatchewan and socially
he is connected with the Tisdale Tennis Club, of which he was president
some years, and the Curling Club.  The religious faith of Mr. Reid is
that of the Methodist church, of which he was treasurer of the board
for many years.
