FREDERICK JOSEPH PILKINGTON.
Frederick Joseph Pilkington, senior member of the firm of Pilking- ton & Davis, chartered accountants of Yorkton, has also served as town clerk and treasurer of Yorkton during the past decade. His birth oc- curred in Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England, on the 14th of February, 1881, his parents being Edward Bristow and Annie (West) Pilkington, representatives of an old Yorkshire family. The father, who served for many years as a councillor of the county borough of Middlesborough and was a representative of the British government on the Tees pilotage com- mission, is now living retired. The mother departed this life in 1921. Frederick Joseph Pilkington obtained his education in St. Hilda's school and under private tutorship at Middlesborough. He received the degree of Chartered Accountant after coming to Saskatchewan and was first engaged in municipal work of that character. In 1913 he was ap- pointed town clerk and treasurer of Yorkton and has since served in the dual capacity, making a most commendable and creditable record in this connection. He is also a partner in the firm of Pilkington & Davis, chartered accountants whose success attests their ability in this field. Mr. Pilkington served as president of the Institute of Chartered Account- ants of Saskatchewan in 1921 and 1922 and has been a member of the executive committee of the Union of Saskatchewan Municipalities since 1914, while during the years 1922 and 1923 he acted as a member of the board of examiners in accounting at the University of Saskatchewan. On the 31st of May, 1905, in Middlesborough, England, Mr. Pilking- ton was united in marriage to Miss Mary Elliott, daughter of Thomas and Mary Elliott of that place. Mr. and Mrs. Pilkington have three chil- dren: Edward Bristow, Thomas Elliott and Freda Mary. The religious faith of the family is that of the Anglican church and fraternally Mr. Pilkington is a Mason, belonging to Yorkton Lodge, No.12, A. F. & A. M.; to the Scottish Rite, Valley of Regina; and to Regina Chapter of the Rose Croix. His favorite form of diversion is indicated in his membership in the Yorkton Golf Club. During the period of the Great war he acted as chairman of the Victory Loan committees here and also as a member of the Red Cross war appeal committee. He is honorary auditor of the local chapter of the Daughters of the Empire and has been secretary of the Yorkton branch of the Canadian Patriotic Fund since its inception. Mr. Pilkington has gained an extensive circle of friends during the period of his residence in Yorkton and is highly esteemed as a substantial and pro- gressive citizen Bibliography follows:
