THOMAS T. MURRAY.
A highly respected and esteemed citizen of Saskatoon is Thomas T. Murray, superintendent of the Saskatoon Municipal Hospital. He was born at Helensburgh, Scotland, on the 7th of September, 1891, a son of Samuel P. and Mary Graham (Thompson) Murray, likewise natives of Scotland. For forty years Mr. S. P. Murray has been active as water- works inspector in his native country and he is a prominent and highly respected citizen of the community in which he resides. The public schools of Helensburgh, Scotland, afforded Thomas T. Murray his education and after putting his textbooks aside he worked in the surveyor's office for four years. In 1911 he came to Canada and locat- ed in Saskatoon, entering the city's employ in the auditor's office. He was likewise employed in the cashier's office and was with the street railway when the Great war broke out. He immediately put all personal interests aside and volunteered his services. He enlisted and went overseas with the Canadian Army Medical Corps and subsequently was transferred to the Eighth London Regiment and was promoted to a lieutenancy, and for sixteen months he saw active service in France and Belgium. He was transferred to the flying corps, or the Royal Air Forces, and returned to Canada in July, 1919. On the 1st of August, 1919, he was placed in charge of the City Hospital at Saskatoon. He has indeed proven to be the right man for the place and the hospital training he received while overseas is invaluable to him. On the 29th of June, 1929, Mr. Murray was married to Miss Minnie Miscampbell, a native of Ontario and a daughter of Andrew Miscampbell, also a native of Ontario, and one of the foremost agriculturists in that province until his death in 1893. Mrs. Miscampbell resides with her daughter, Mrs. Murray. Mrs. Murray is a graduate nurse, having re- ceived her diploma from the Saskatoon Hospital in 1918. Mr. and Mrs. Murray have one child: Jean Mary, whose birth occurred on the 10th of September, 1922. Since attaining his majority Mr. Murray has given his political alle- giance to the Liberal party. He has never sought nor desired political preferment, but is essentially public-spirited and is willing at all times ~ cooperate in worthy projects for the upbuilding of Saskatoon. His religious faith is that of the Presbyterian church, in which he is a zealous worker, being a member of and an elder in St. Thomas Presbyterian church of Saskatoon, and was president of its Young Peoples Society for five years. Fraternally Mr. Murray is identified with the Masons and he is readily conceded to be an exemplary member of the craft. For recreation he turns to outdoor sports and he is particularly fond of play- ing tennis. Bibliography follows:
