SIDNEY G. MOORE.
Business and civic interests in Melfort find a worthy representative in Sidney G. Moore, owner of the Central Drug Store and mayor of this city. He was born at Pembroke, Ontario, on the 6th of March, 1882, a son of George B. and Mary (Walker) Moore. George B. Moore located in Prince Albert, coming from the Ottawa Valley, and was engaged in the lumber business there for a number of years, becoming associated with the Big River Lumber Company. He is now living retired in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he and his wife have many friends. The public schools of Ontario afforded Sidney G. Moore his early edu- cation. In 1900 he entered the drug business in Ottawa, with R. T. Shill- ington, where he worked for three years. In 1903 he went to Prince Albert and for about one and one-half years worked in the drug store of Charles McDonald. He liked the business so well that he returned to Ontario and entered a pharmacal institution in Toronto, graduating from the in- stitution in 1905. In September of that year he came to Melfort and for one and one-half years worked in Dr. Shadd's drug store. He then entered fnto partnership with Charles McDonald of Prince Albert, his former em- ployer, and established a chain of stores, Mr. Moore managing the one in Melfort. In 1911 he bought out this store and since that time has been sole owner of the Central Drug Store here. His knowledge of the phar- macal business is so thorough that he has built up an extensive and im- portant patronage. His store is always attractively stocked and his employes are efficient and courteous. Aside from his business interests Mr. Moore is active in politics. He was elected mayor of Melfort in 1918, reelected in 1921 and elected by acclamation for his present term of 1923. His continued reelection to this important position is proof of his ability as a public official and the high regard and esteem in which he is held by his fellowmen. He was a mem- ber of the town council in 1913 and 1914. Fraternally Mr. Moore is identi- fied with the Masons and is conceded to be an exemplary member of the craft. He is an active member of the local Board of Trade. Mr. Moore is unmarried. Bibliography follows:
