JOHN ANGUS MACMILLAN.
John Angus MacMillan, ex-member of the Legislative Assembly and a prominent barrister of Wadena, was born on the 27th of March, 1888, at East Lake, Ainslie, Nova Scotia, a son of Hugh L. and Margaret Mac- Millan, both of Scotch descent, their ancestors having emigrated from the Highlands at an early date. In the pursuit of his preliminary education John Angus MacMillan attended the public schools of his birthplace and was subsequently en- rolled in Dalhousie University. He was graduated from the University of Halifax in due time with the LL. B. degree and immediately engaged in the practice of law. His rise in the profession was rapid from the start, for he brought to the profession innate ability and thorough prep- aration. It was not long before he was sought by his fellowmen as a candidate for public office. He bad always given his stanch support to the Liberal party and on the 26th of June; 1917, he was the successful candidate of that party for the Legislative Assembly. He was mayor of Wadena in 1917 and during that time inaugurated and put through many plans for the improvement of the town and for the promotion of the interests of the people. He was elected to the mayoralty by acclamation. Mr. MacMillan is not now holding public office, but is devoting his entire time and attention to his duties as a barrister. He has an extensive and important clientele and handles much litigation before the courts. Fraternally Mr. MacMillan is a Mason and ~so belongs to the Inde- pendent Order of Odd Fellows. He is a consistent attendant at the Pres- byterian church and a generous contributor to its various charities. He has always held to the highest of professional ethics and enjoys the con- fidence and esteem of all who know him. He is unmarried. He is also a member of the A. F. & A. M. and I. 0.0. F.
