MURDOCK ANGUS MACKAY, M.D..

A well known physician and surgeon of Tisdale is Dr. Murdock Angus MacKay, who was born in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, on the 2d of June, 1878, a son of John and Mary (Macleod) MacKay, likewise natives of Nova Scotia. The father was actively engaged in farming near Baddeck for the greater part of his life. His death occurred some years ago. Mrs. MacKay survives him and is making her home at Sydney, Cape Breton. The public schools of Baddeck afforded Murdock Angus MacKay his preliminary education and after graduating from high school he taught school for about eight years, both in Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan. Subsequently he entered Queen's University Medical College at Kingston and was graduated from that institution in 1911. For a short time there- after he practiced in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, and in the fall of that year came to Tisdale, where he has since been active in professional circles. On the 1st of January, 1922, he formed a partnership with Dr. D.G. MacQueen, under the style of MacKay & MacQueen and they have a substantial and ever-increasing patronage.~ In July, 1918, Dr. MacKay was united in marriage to Miss Elena Lindeburgh, a daughter of A. V. and Margaret (Liggett) Lindeburgh. The father was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, of Danish ancestry, while the mother was a native of Ireland. Mr. Lindeburgh came to Canada about 1863 and for some forty years was in charge of the government telephone lines from Qu'Appelle to Humboldt, Saskatchewan. He is now retired from active life and is residing at Punnichy, this province. Mrs. Lindeburgh died in November, 1912. To Dr. and Mrs. MacKay one child has been born: Margaret C., whose birth occurred in July, 1919. The Doctor is public-spirited and has served in various public ca- pacities. He has been a member of the local school board since taking up residence here and is actively identified with the Board of Trade. Along strictly professional lines he is connected with the Dominion Medical Society, and the Saskatchewan Medical Society and fraternally he is identified with the Masons. The religious faith of Dr. MacKay is that of the Presbyterian church and he is an elder in the local church. Bibliography follows:
