ALEXANDER DONALD MACINTOSH.
Alexander Donald MacIntosh, Judge of the District Court of Battle- ford, is prominently known throughout the district and province. He was born at Lismore, Pictou county, Nova Scotia, on the 8th of October, 1879, a son of Duncan and Isabella (Fraser) Macintosh, natives of Nova Scotia, the former of whom followed farming in Nova Scotia through- out his active life. He died on the 1st of July, 1919, at the age of eighty- six years, after a life of successful achievement. Mrs. MacIntosh passed away in 1892. In the pursuit of his education Alexander Donald MacIntosh attended the public schools of Lismore and after graduating from high school enrolled in St. Francis Xavier's College at Antigonish, Nova Scotia, where he was awarded the Master's degree in 1905. He then entered Dalhousie University and was graduated from that institution with the LL. B. degree in 1906. He was called to the bar on the 1st of October, 1907, but remained in the barrister's office in Sydney, where he had been articled, until he completed his term. In 1908 he commenced practice on his own account, opening an office at Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, continuing there until September, 1910, when he came to Saskatchewan and com- menced practice at Humboldt. In October, 1917, he was appointed to his present position as Judge of the District Court of Battleford and has since efficiently discharged the duties of this important office. He possesses an alert mind, keen discrimination and untiring energy and is sincerely devoted to his work. On the 10th of May, 1919, Mr. MacIntosh was married to Miss Viola McManus, a woman of charming and magnetic personality. The Judge is a member of the Saskatchewan Bar Association and fraternally is identified with the Knights of Columbus. Socially he holds membership in the Canadian Club, the Battleford Golf Club and also the North Battle- ford Golf Club. His religious faith is that of the Catholic church. Bibliography follows:
