CHARLES G. LOCKE.
Charles G. Locke, barrister and solicitor and prominent citizen of Sas- katoon, was born in Ridgetown, Ontario, on the 20th of February, 1885, a son of John C. and Jean (Leitch) Locke, likewise natives of that prov- ince. For the past forty-five years John C. Locke has conducted a furni- ture business at Ridgetown, where he is one of the influential and highly respected citizens. In the pursuit of his education Charles G. Locke attended the public schools of Ridgetown and subsequently became a student at the Collegiate Institute. From there he went to Osgoode Hall, Ontario, and was grad- uated therefrom with the LL. B. degree, in the class of 1909. He likewise studied law in the offices of Aylesworth, Wright & Moss of Toronto. Mr. Locke was admitted to the bar of his native province in 1909 and practiced at Lucknow until 1911, when he came to Saskatoon and has since practiced here. He enjoyed professional success from the start and today ranks among the foremost barristers and solicitors in the district and province. Aside from his profession he has extensive oil interests in the Peace River Oil Company and is secretary of the Victory Oil Company. They are now drilling in the Peace river district. Mr. Locke is also interested in ten other companies drilling in that field. In August, 1915, Mr. Locke was married to Miss Ina M. Smith, a daughter of N. L. and Linda (Dawson) Smith, natives of Ontario, the former of whom is manager of the Riverdale Lumber Company of Toronto. Mrs. Smith died in 1920. To Mr. and Mrs. Locke three children have been born: Marion, whose birth occurred on the 17th of May, 1917; Jack, born on the 17th of May, 1920; and Linda, born on the 18th of May, 1922. In his political views Mr. Locke is a Liberal and he maintains an active interest in party affairs. He has served as president of the Liberal Club here and is now secretary of the Dominion Liberal Organization for the province of Saskatchewan. In 1922 he was president of the Kiwanis Club, of which he is now district trustee. Fraternally he is identified with the Masons and the United Order of Canadians, and he is director of records of the latter organization. Socially Mr. Locke is identified with the Canad- ian Club and the Riverside Golf and Country Club. His religious faith is that of the Anglican church. Mr. Locke is a good all-around citizen and in the healthful growth and advancement of his home town he has taken a helpful part. Bibliography follows:
