DUNCAN JAMES FERGUSON, D. D. S.
Dr. Duncan James Ferguson, a practicing dentist of Saskatoon, is one of the foremost men in Saskatoon county, in the ranks of his profession. He was born in the province of Ontario, at Cratham, on the 2d of Septem- ber, 1898, a son of William and Jennie (McNaughton) Ferguson, natives of Ontario. The father farmed successfully in that province throughout his life. His death occurred in 1901. Mrs. Ferguson is making her home in Chatham, where she has many friends. The public schools of Kent county, Ontario, afforded Duncan James Ferguson his early education and subsequently he enrolled in the Colle- giate Institute at Chatham. His boyhood ambition was to become a dentist and as a result, upon the completion of his literary education, he entered the Royal College of Dental Surgeons, affiliated with the Uni. versity of Toronto, and was graduated with the D. D. S. degree in April of the year 1919. That same year he went to Humboldt, Saskatchewan and practiced there one year, at the termination of which time he came to Saskatoon and established offices. His skill won for him instant recog- nition and he has an extensive and important patronage. Dr. Ferguson has remained a constant student of his profession and has attained a degree of efficiency which can only be the result of personal experience. During the Great war Dr. Ferguson served in Canada as a member of the Seventieth Battery, and was stationed at Camp Petawawa. The political allegiance of Dr. Ferguson is given to the Liberal party and he has always taken an active interest in local affairs, although he has never sought nor desired political preferment. His religious faith is that of the Presbyterian church. Fraternally he is identified with the Masons, holding membership in Imperial Lodge, No.60. He is also a member of the Eclectic Club and of the Red Cross and he is connected with St. John's Ambulance. He holds membership in the Canadian Club and as he takes a great interest in athletics of all kinds, he is identified with the Saskatoon Golf Club and the Saskatoon Lawn Tennis Club. Since coming to Saskatoon the Doctor has made many friends and the extensive practice which he enjoys is ample evidence of his proficiency and skill. Bibliography follows:
