WILLIAM BURTON.
William Burton has been prominently connected with the tailoring and gent's furnishings business in Regina since 1889. His policy has always been founded upon principles of honorable dealing, strict business integrity, energy and enthusiasm in the conduct of his affairs, and these policies upon which he founded the business many years ago, are in active force in the extensive enterprise to which it has grown today. He was born in Oxford county, Ontario, in 1868, a son of William and Rachel (Bray) Burton, both natives of Yorkshire, England, where they were married. They came to Ontario soon afterward and the father engaged in tailoring for the greater part of his life, having learned that trade in England. To Mr. and Mrs. Burton ten children were born, seven of whom are living, William, whose name introduces this review, being the ninth in order of birth. Mr. Burton was a member of the Church of Eng- land, while his wife was a member of the Baptist church. His political allegiance was given to the Conservative party. In the acquirement of his education William Burton attended the public schools of Ontario and upon the completion of his education he learned the tailor's trade in his father's shop. In 1888 he went to Toronto and worked at his trade there until the following year, when he came to Regina. He has since been in the tailoring and gent's furnish- ings business in this city and has a gratifying trade. He has a two-story brick building on Scarth street and rents the upper floor. In 1892 Mr. Burton was married to Miss Augusta Gollnick, a native of Germany, and to them two children have been born: Reibe, who is at home; and Harry, who is a student in the Collegiate Institute. The re- ligious faith of the Burton family is that of the Methodist church and they are members of the Metropolitan Methodist church in this city. Fraternally Mr. Burton is identified with the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and he also holds membership in the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, the United Workmen and the Woodmen. In his political views he is a Liberal. Mr. Burton finds recreation from his many business in- terests in the great outdoors and he is very fond of hunting. Bibliography follows:
