LORNE W. BRIGHAM, M.D.
 



	A prominent physician and surgeon of Star City is Dr. Lorne W.
Brigham, who was born in Huron county, Ontario, in December of the
year 1882.  His parents are William and Elizabeth (Stackhouse)
Brigham, natives of Ontario, where the father has engaged in farming
in Huron county for many years and is enjoying the best of health at
the age of eighty.
	In the acquirement of his education Lorne W. Brigham attended the
public schools of his native county and later enrolled in the Clinton Col-
legiate Institute.  Upon the completion of his literary education he en-
tered Manitoba University at Winnipeg and was graduated therefrom
with the M. D. degree in 1906. He came to Star City on the first through
train and subsequently engaged in practice here.  In 1919 he took into
partnership with him Dr. C. H. Carruthers, extended mention of whom
is made elsewhere in this work. The firm is known as Brigham & Car-
ruthers and stands high in the profession in the city and district. When
Dr. Brigham first came to Star City he acquired a homestead and he is
now operating eight hundred acres of his own land and twelve hundred
acres of rented land.
	In his political views the Doctor is a Liberal and he has firm belief
in the principles of that party as factors in good government. He has
served on the town council and was Liberal candidate in the last election
for membership in the Legislative Assembly but was defeated. He is an
active member of the Board of Trade and along strictly professional
lines holds membership in the Saskatchewan Medical Society.  His re-
ligious faith is that of the Presbyterian church.
