I am interested in finding out what happened to Richard Watson Russell.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario on 4 Jan 1881, Richard established a jewellery
business in Yorkton between 1901 and 1905. He returned to Ontario to
marry Alice M. Wilson on 12 June 1905, and the couple then returned to
Yorkton.
If there are any descendents in the area, I have lots of information on
the Russell family to share.

I have a question about a family who left Sweden 1882. The woman was my grandmothers aunt. Her name was Lejon Carin Larsdotter, born 1850 on Solleron, an island in the lake Siljan. Her husband Johannes Andersson, born 1849 in Orsa. The children, Anna 1874, Karolina -76, Anders Gustav -78, Lars-80. They also had a fosterson Kox Jons Andersson born 1864. He left Sweden 1883 and arrived to S:t Paul, Minnesota.
The family lived in Wadena, Minnesota and Johannes was a restaurant -keeper. When Carin died, 1924 or 27, they were in Hendon Sask, Canada and at least one of the 10 children lived there. A daughter Mary, lived in Minneapolis and her surname was Johnson.
I am greatful for all information about the family and their descendants.

Though I am located in Fredericton, NB, my roots are deeply sunk into
the Yorkton area [family folklore has it that I am related to half of
Gerald and Esterhazy ;)]. My great-great grandparents, David Samuel
Dunsmore & Elizabeth (Down) Dunsmore homesteaded in Yorkton District
[North West Territory at the time] in 1884. My great-grandmother,
Rachel Jane "Jennie" Dunsmore was born at Yorkton, NWT on December 8,1884. The family briefly returned to the Melbourne and Glenboro areas
of Manitoba. My great-grandmother Jennie married Richard Arthur Tebb,
on February 25, 1902 in Neepawa, MB. Soon after they returned to the
Yorkton area [1902] where they homesteaded the N.E. 1/4 of 24-20-32 [for which they paid $12.00 ;)] near Gerald. Here they farmed, raised 14
children [I am a decendant of the 9th, Edith Mary Elizabeth "Ede" (Tebb)
Everitt].

I am interested in 'getting in touch' with some of my many relatives
still living in the area and have a large amount of information on the
Down, Dunsmore, and Tebb families to share.

I am looking for a funeral home that would've handled burials in the Yorkton area in 1912, 1921, and 1932.

Also would appreciate a lookup in the local history book for Yorkton for a David STEWART who homestead there.
Any help in any of these areas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Patricia

I have been researching my Canadian grandmother and her parents for quite a while. Family heresay indicates that my grandparents (deceased) were married in Yorkton. I cannot find any records to substantiate this lead. Can you send me information as to where I can write to request this information?
They were married about 1919. Also, my grandmother was born in 1898 in Brombury. On the map at our local library, this town is listed northwest of Yorkton. From the research I have been doing, it appears that Brombury is on an Indian Reservation? Would this be correct? Where would vital statistics be stored from this area? I would be very greatful as to any information you can send my way. Thank you for taking the time to read my note!!

Sincerely,
Merle Doxey

Josiah and Jerusha WILDER moved to the Willowbrook District in 1898 with their children from Emmet County, Iowa. Jerusha's mother, Mary Ann DENNING, and brother, Alonzo BANGS, came with them and bought their own farm near Ratheby, just southeast of Yorkton by 1900. I am looking for the exact date and place of death of Mary Ann DENNING (first married name BANGS, maiden name CASS). She died between 1901 and 1904. There is no death registration for her in Sask.

I am seeking help from others with Czech-speaking roots in the Yorkton area
of Saskatchewan. My mother, Emily CMOLIK, was born on a farm near Yarbo 12 May 1912. Her parents were Marie SOBOTKA and James/Vaclav CMOLIK, who immigrated to Canada from Bohemia (Rozmital, a small village just south of Prague) circa 1910. The family later lived in Esterhazy, Stockholm and Rocanville (father was section foreman for CPR). My problem is finding a record of my mother's birth. Has anyone else had a similar problem regarding Czech-speaking families arriving in the Yorkton area around 1910 or soon after?

I have been unable to obtain my mother's birth certificate. All possible
surname spelling variations were checked by SK vital statistics staff. (It
is possible that her birth was never registered, but one would think that
fairly recent immigrants would tend to satisfy official requirements.)
United Church of Canada Archives for Saskatchewan were unable to find a
baptismal record. The family may have been Roman Catholic when my mother
was born. Does anyone know how to go about making an enquiry about Catholic baptismal records for the Yarbo area (1912)?
