Fort Qu'Appelle - Fort Pelly TrailNear the middle of the nineteenth century this trail linked Fort Pelly with Fort Qu'appelle. For almost half a century the trail was the only overland route between the two. for a generation, along this trail, the brigades of noisy red river carts were a common sight. During the seventies [1870s] the trail was used as a regular patrol route of the North West Mounted Police. From the early eighties [1880s] until the development of the first roads it was the main thoroughfare for the pioneers and early settlers who homesteaded along its route.
