If an error or omission has been made, please bring it to the attention of the webmaster. This book focused in on themes and subjects, one of which included the school districts in the area. Besides photographs of the one room schoolhouses, the volunteers also included information on ratepayers, school board members, reminiscences, newspaper articles, sports events, picnics, the school song, cheer, motto, colours, pupil and teacher names. The Newfield School and Districts History Book Committee wrote this book for the 75th provincial anniversary of Saskatchewan [1980]. As such, it appeals to families and genealogists from the area, historians and educators. It provides a home, a locale for the individual, notable or humble, and with the locale, a place in history. Just as every village, and rural municipality has a history, so too, does every school house have its own history. Any local history is truly worth doing, and preserving, and the educational memories, traditions of the Lost River Schools come together as a nucleus of the educational traditions in this community. Elkhorn School District 3660 pioneers met in 1915 for the first meeting, with the school house being constructed on the SW corner of the SE quarter 1 50 16 W2. In 1917, Miss Nora Ann Beddome came on board as the first teacher. The school closed in 1966, and students were bussed to Codette for the primary grades to 6. Grades 7 to 12 went to Nipawin. The schoolhouse was sold, and transferred to Nipawin. Lost River Schools & Districts Reunion 2005 surpassed all expectations included the former Elkhorn, Little Bridge, Murphy Creek, Newfield and Teddington Schools and Districts.
