CHARLES McARTHUR, M.D.  

	A representative member of the medical profession is Dr. Charles
McArthur of Swift Current. He was born in the province of Ontario,
on the 20th of August, 1876, a son of Charles and Margaret (McDiarmid)
McArthur, both natives of the Highlands of Scotland.  Mr. and Mrs.
McArthur are both deceased. The father engaged in farming in Ontario
throughout his life and was widely known as an agriculturist.
	In the pursuit of his education Charles McArthur attended the public
schools of his birthplace and was graduated from the high school at
Lindsay and the Lindsay, Ontario, Collegiate Institute. Subsequently he
took up the study of medicine at the University of Illinois and was grad-
uated from that institution in 1905.  He worked with Dr. Alexander
Hugh Ferguson for some eighteen months and in 1910 came to Swift
Current, where he has practiced since that date.  He has brought to
the profession innate ability and thorough training and the success he
is enjoying is a manifest result of his skill. Dr. McArthur took a post-
graduate course in urology and kindred subjects in the New York Post-
graduate Medical School and Hospital in 1921, and intends to move to
the New England states to practice as a specialist in the near future.
	In April, 1913, Dr. McArthur was married to Dr. Helen Valens and
they have two children: Alexander and Helen Agnes.  Fraternally Dr.
McArthur is identified with the Knights of Pythias and he is a great
Sportsman and an expert rifleman. He is also a talented artist and has
a collection of many excellent paintings.  He devotes the greater part
of his time and attention to his practice but is ever cognizant of the
duties and responsibilities as well as the privileges of good citizenship
and to that end is active in the furtherance of every movement for the
benefit of Swift Current.
