Among the prominent barristers and solicitors of Saskatchewan is Thomas Andrew Lynd, senior member of the firm of T. A. Lynd & Com- pany, with offices in the Canada building. He was born in County Lon- donderry, Ireland, on the 26th of November, 1886, a son of Thomas Rachel (Gillespie) Lynd, likewise natives of that country. The father engaged in farming in Ireland until 1906, when he came to Canada, and located in the province of Saskatchewan, purchasing some land near Moosomin, which he improved and operated until 1916. In that year he retired from active life and is now living in Moosomin, where he and his wife are highly respected and esteemed citizens. In the acquirement of his education Thomas Andrew Lynd attended the public schools of his birthplace and was a student at the University of Ireland at Galloway for some time. He came to Canada with hispar- ents in 1906 and the following year began the study of law with J. T. Brown, now Chief Justice. He was admitted to the bar on the 22d of June, 1912, and in January of that year came to Saskatoon and became associated with Messrs. Bence and Stevenson, under the firm style Bence Stevenson & Lynd. On the 23d of November of the same year he engaged in practice on his own account and practiced independently until June 1913, when he formed a partnership with Mr. Hogartil and W. A. Gil- christ. That firm was known as Lynd, Gilchrist & Hogartil and the asso- ciation was maintained until the 1st of June, 1917, after which for three years he was a member of the firm of Lynd & Yule. In May, 1920, he engaged in practice under the name of T. A. Lynd & Company, and in January, 1923, he formed a partnership with Stewart McKercher, this connection being dissolved on June 1, 1923. He has a well appointed office in the Canada building and has a gratifying clientele. On the 20th of December, 1915, Mr. Lynd was married to Miss Jessie Agnes Merry, and they have a daughter: Lucille Esther Elizabeth, whose birth occurred on the 23d of August, 1918. Mr. Lynd has always been actively interested in civic affairs and he was city alderman of Saskatoon for a period of six years, resigning that position in 1922. Along strictly professional lines Mr. Lynd holds membership in the Canadian Bar Asso- ciation, the Saskatchewan Bar Association, and the Saskatoon Bar Asso- ciation. Bibliography follows:
