ANDREW LESLIE.
Since 1909 Andrew Leslie has been a resident of Saskatoon and he is now discharging the duties of city commissioner. He is of Irish birth, was born in Londonderry, Ireland, on the 1st of April, 1888, a son of James and Elizabeth (Gibson) Leslie, likewise natives or that country. For many years the father followed agricultural pursuits in his native country and he and his wife are now living in Londonderry, where he is retired, and they are highly respected citizens. In the pursuit of his education Andrew Leslie attended the public schools of Londonderry and after putting his textbooks aside engaged in the lumber business for five and one-half years. He remained in Ireland until 1907, when he came to Canada and located in Winnipeg, where he was connected with a wholesale dry goods business for two years. In 1909 he came to Saskatoon and was assistant city clerk here for two years, at the termination of which time he was appointed city clerk, so serv- ing from 1911 until 1918, in which year he was appointed assistant city commissioner and city clerk. In 1921 he was appointed city commis- sioner and has since served in this important capacity. Mr. Leslie is pub- lic-spirited and has taken a conspicuous part in the healthful growth and advancement of this city. He undertakes responsibilities readily and willingly and is highly esteemed for his integrity and sterling personal worth. In his political views Mr. Leslie is a Liberal and he has firm belief in the principles of that party as factors in good government. He is well informed on all important questions and issues of the day. His religious faith is that of the Presbyterian church. He is an active member of the local Rotary Club and also holds membership in the Riverside Country Club. Mr. Leslie is unmarried. Bibliography follows:
