A. F. LAIRD, M.D
Dr. A. F. Laird is a prominent eye, ear, nose and throat specialist of Yorkton. He was born in Blenheim, Ontario, on the 13th of November, 1889, a son of A. and Hanna (Forbes) Laird, both of whom are living in Ontario, where the father is a successful agriculturist. A. F. Laird received his preliminary education in the public schools of his native province and in due time was graduated from high school. His boyhood ambition was to become a physician and surgeon and subse- quently he enrolled in Western University, from which he was graduated with the M. D. degree in 1913. Shortly after graduation he was called into the service of his country in the World war and did not begin the practice of his profession until the close of that conflict, in which he served in the Royal Medical Corps. He was awarded the Military Cross in 1917, for conspicuous bravery, and was mentioned in dispatches from the Somme front during the year 1916. On the 1st of November, 1919, Dr. Laird received his honorable discharge and he then located in Win- nipeg, where he took postgraduate work for six months, and subse- quently in Rochester, Minnesota, and Chicago, Illinois. In the month of October, 1920, he located in Yorkton, where he has continued to reside. To specialize in a particular branch of the medical profession is the usual thing in these days and Dr. Laird has become prominent as an eye, ear, nose and throat specialis, and enjoys an extensive and lucrative prac- tice. On the 5th of January, 1919, Dr. Laird was married to Miss Sadie Robinson, a native of Ontario. She is prominent in the club and social circles of this community. In his political views Dr. Laird is independent, giving his support to the man he thinks best fitted for the office without regard to party principles. He is an active member of the Rotary Club and the Board of Trade and has been a dominant factor in the promotion of many movements for the development of Yorkton. Bibliography follows:
