HENRY THOMAS BUSHBY.
Henry Thomas Bushby has been connected with the railway mail
service of the Dominion of Canada for some years and since 1914 has
been Superintendent of Railway Mail Service, with offices in the Canada
building, Saskatoon. He was born in Appleby, Westmoreland county, Eng-
land, on the 2d of August, 1876, a son of Arthur Frank and Mary Ann
(Close) Bushby, natives of England. Arthur Frank Bushby was a civil
engineer and followed that line of work throughout his life. His death
occurred in England in 1888. Mrs; Bushby came to Canada in 1889 and
made her home in Winnipeg until 1902, when she passed away.
Henry Thomas Bushby was reared and educated in Appleby, England,
and for some time was a student in the Church of England School. In
1889 he came to Canada with his mother and in 1891 went to work in the
Winnipeg post office, a connection he maintained seven years. In 1899
he entered the Railway Mail Service as clerk and served in that capacity
until 1911, when he was made Chief Clerk of Railway Mail Service, with
headquarters in Calgary, remaining there until 1914. On the 1st of June
of that year he was appointed Superintendent of Railway Mail Service
at Saskatoon. There is no phase of the railway mail service system with
which Mr. Bushby is not thoroughly familiar. In early life he formed
habits of industry and integrity and always applied himself closely to
the thing at hand. These factors have been dominant in obtaining for
him his present-day success, for they won him the attention of his su-
periors in the railway mail service and his rapid and continuous promotion.
The religious faith of Mr. Bushby is that of the Anglican church. For
recreation he turns to golf and he holds membership in the Saskatoon
Golf Club, and is also a member of the local Kiwanis Club. Mr. Bushby
is unmarried.
