information: Earl Clyde JOHNSON came to Wood Mountain in about 1905
from Pearl, ILL. he purchased land at Wood Mountain and the family ran
the post office in the 1920's from the family farm. The family moved
further north in Sask. in the 30's and he died about 1946.

SOMERFELDT. About 1913, parents Mike and ??? with grown children Alfred,
Julia, Augusta and Otille lived in/around Neidpath, Sask. I believe Julia
married a LOEWEN, and Augusta married a KRUGER/KRIEGER. These two married
sisters lived in Michigan between 1920 and 1936. Otille married my
grandfather Henry Schuetz, farming in Neidpath, Sask. Would appreciate
information on the Somerfeldt family origins and Otille's parents, siblings
and whereabouts of descendants.

Looking for information on Frank Medlock, who died October 20, 1918 at Mossbank ( Saskatchewan ) Canada. He was married to Emily Maria File in 1912. They had three children, names William Medlock,b.12/08/1913, Frank James?, b. 07/14/1915, and Emily Lucinda, b. 05/04/1917. Also would like information on Emily Maria Files that came from England on a ship April 6?,1914 from England. The three children of Frank and Emily Medlock were born in Expence Canada.

Moose Jaw. He then moved to Prince Albert but was in Moose Jaw. Where do I go from here?

Searching for information on a Norman MacDonald who died in Moose Jaw in March 1972, born in Scotland in 1900. Could be an uncle. Curious to know if anything is known on is parentage. His obit was included with some other papers another uncle in Scotland (surname Robertson)had passed on to me after his death. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are researching my wife's grandfather, Harold MOUBERT. We can document the following info from his military attestation documents.
Born Liverpool, England - Oct 5 1878
Joined C.E.F - Oct 1914, Discharged Apr 1919
Died Moose Jaw, SA - Dec 16 1936
Occupation - Clerk - no idea who employer may have been.
Addresses of 47 Hochelaga in 1914 and 245 Hochelaga in 1919.

Query 1 - is it possible to find out where he is buried. Where could we find out?

Query 2 - We have a pocket watch inscripted with his name and the words "Plaxton" and "Spraxton Jewelers, Moose Jaw 1902. Would anyone familiar with Moose Jaw history have any idea if there was such an establishment or the meaning of the inscriptions. Our research has turned up a "Plaxton Lake" but no idea as to any connection.

As a note of interest I have a 32 page picture book that I discovered in my grandfather's (Hayes)momentos a few years ago titled "Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan" The inside title page has the title " Interesting scenes in and around Moose Jaw Saskatchewan". The book is published by Lewis Rice, Illustrator and Publisher for Western Canada. The latest copyright date I can find is 1908. The cover is soft heavy brown paper while the inside pages are shiny paper with black and white photos. I wouldn't think there are too many of these left in existence. Wonder what it's worth.

I am trying to find out the parents of Nestor GOUIN and Clara JESKE.

They were married in Gravelbourg c1924 (I am going on that date as that is the birth date of my grandfather Robert Douglas Gouin - however it says Jeske on his birth cert). Nestor & Clara had 5 other children.

My name is Josh Grandell. My father and I are trying to trace my family's genealogy. We have come upon some info. that my great great grandfather might have lived in Moose Jaw as a judge for the district court. His family was also farmers/ranchers and were in a CO-OP with the Leafely. We aren't sure of his name but his son was either Richard Earl, Grandell (Grinfell or Grindell) We are trying to find out the correct spelling of the last name. I am looking for a Charles Leonard who arrived in the spring of 1920 heading for Mr. Alexander Scott's property in Willow Bunch. He was from Monikie, Angus County, Scotland. Think I have the right region for Willow Bunch, it is near the US border and I think fits the Moose Jaw Region. Just a long shot that he might appear somewhere. Can't track him in Scotland so made the assumption he stayed in Canada.

I have been looking for McCARTHY family from the St. Clements area for years. This may be the daughter of one of them.
My Grandfather Austin McCARTHY worked as a carpenter in Moose Jaw in 1908-1911 but I never thought he may have had family there. Could someone please look up the obituary in question and send it to me. I assume it would be in the Moose Jaw newspaper but their classifieds are not on line.

Justus Sandberg emigrated to Minnesota in 1876, then to Canada. He was born in Sweden 16 June 1853, and died in Canada 4 February 1900. He married Anna Martina Larson (b. 11 July 1865 in Norway, d. 1910) on 12 January 1884. They had 9 children: Lar Algot, Edwin Albin(my husband's grandfather), Emil Julius, Carl Wilhelm, Arthur Otto, Henry Justus (b. 5 July 1899, d. 2 August 1999), Alma Edlina (d. 28 September 1897), Mathilda Justina, and Selma Adina.

I am seeking information about Johanne Laffler (LaFleur?) nee Ahrens and her husband Guy Laffler (LaFleur?). They died at Mortlach, Sask. Joanne died January 9, 1922, age 29. Guy died in 1921, age about 30 years. They lived near Mortlach or Parkbeg. Unknown whether they had children. Joanne's brother Henry and their parents Edward and Anna Ahrens moved to Rainy River District of Ontario from Parkbeg about 1920. Any information on Johanne or Guy would be appreciated. If you can tell me which is Twp. 18 in Saskatchewan, I know that Henry and Edward Ahrens were granted land on NE Section 17, SE Section 20, NW Section 15, and SW Section 22 of that township. I believe it to be in the Parkbeg area.

Hi! I'm living in the Lethbridge area. My grandfather built the Liberty Block in Moose Jaw (which may not be still standing); it is/was and apartment building. He also had a real estate office, and a general store. All this was in the early 1900's. I'd really like to get any information I can about those early times. I am looking for information on the REMY family. I have copies of land grants which puts Emile REMY and Joseph Emile REMY in an area just south of Assiniboia. These land grants date to 1908-1911. Looking to see if this particular Emile REMY was married to Henriette Pierard Jeuquinne about 1901-1903 and had child Teresa.

My Grandfather was raised in Moosejaw, Sask. His name was Walter Wiley. He had several brothers and sisters who were
raised there. They left Moosjaw in 1921, I don't know what year they arrived.

I've been working on researching the following two names. Both have their "roots" in Moose Jaw and area. One is DILLEN (in some earlier writings it was spelled DILLON). The second one is KJARSGAARD. My grandfather was Peter KJARSGAARD who in the 1920 + owned "Kjarsgaard Construction". They built the (what was formerly known as ) Grand Hotel, the Atrium, among others in Moose Jaw. I need help, any kind of help. Here's what I know.

Olaf Brandstrom b 12/1/1857 Bygdea, Sweden immigrated to the US 1882 m Christine ? b 9/1864 Sweden, immigrated to US 1888. They married abt 1886. Had 5 children in Minnesota 4 living in 1900, Ida, Herbert, Arthur, and Amy. Olaf and Christine were naturalized December 18, 1915, last foreign residence Saskatchewan, Canada. Herbert Brandstrom naturalized November 14, 1916, last foreign residence Saskatchewan, Canada. On both of the naturalization record it states that their arrival to the US was on the Canadian Pacific Railway to North Portal in North Dakota. Talking to Herbert's son, he remembers that his father had homesteaded in Canada and remembers him mentioning these places, Regina, Swift Current, Drinkwater, Moose Jaw. I'm thinking he homesteaded in the Regina - Drinkwater area. Herbert went to Canada to do trapping for the Canadian Government. We think, since he went to Canada to work for the government, he gave up his US citizenship, and had to be naturalized when he returned to the US. I find Olaf (Olof), Christine (Kristine), and Herbert (Hurbert) in the 1900, 1905, and 1920 census in Minnesota. I haven't been able to look in the 1910 census yet, but will. However, I think they were in Canada then.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When the 46th Battalion returned in 1919 & they were disbanded in Moose Jaw that same year. Some of my relatives who were killed overseas, their wooden crosses were brought to the ARMOURS there in Moose Jaw. Now I am wondering if those crosses are still there? The ones I am searching for are the TALLIS' from Borden, Sask.

I am looking for any information on Alvina PRATT (maiden name COOK). She was married to Forrest Pratt and lived in Aneroid as of January 23, 1924 when my grandfather Ormond Pratt was born. She died approx. 3 months later. I don't know where she died for sure, But her family ended up in BC. I'm not sure if it was before or after her death. Any further information would be helpful as this is ALL I know about her from my grandfathers death certificate.

I am seeking information on my grandfather either John or William Mckenzie who was born in Scotland in the 1880"s, served with the Canadian Forces in WW1 2nd Canadian Infantry Brigade in France,and is believed to have setttled in the MooseJaw area. This is all the information I have on him.

I am attempting to find the grave site of my ggrandfather James McLean. I have a piece from the Regina LP dated March 1896, appears to have been submitted from Moose Jaw, that indicates he passed away in Moose Jaw or Swift Current and buried with the Orange Lodge in charge of arrangements. He was employed as CPR section foreman at Swift Current at the time. Family lore has it that his wife, Sarah was the second non-aborigional woman to live in Moose Jaw. She was buried at
Qu'appelle nine years after his death. I would be grateful if anyone can provide assistance.
