ERNEST GARDNER.
Ernest Gardner is well known in the legal circles of Humboldt, tbe
district and province, enjoying an extensive private practice and in addi-
tion being agent of the Attorney-General of Saskatchewan and having
considerable agency work for the Minister of Justice at Ottawa. He
was born in England, on the 7th of December, 1877, a son of William
Gardner, who was one of the chancery clerks in England under the old
system. He has passed away.
Ernest Gardner received his literary and legal education in England
and for five years was a barrister in Lincoln's Inn, London. In 1911 he
came to Canada and located at Saskatoon, where he practiced for some
time. He also resided in Vonda, Saskatchewan, remaining there until
May of the year 1913, when he came to Humboldt. At that time Hum-
boldt was made the judicial centre and Mr. Gardner has since practiced
here. He has been agent of the Attorney-General since 1917 and is dis-
charging the many important duties devolving upon him to the complete
the members of the provincial bar.
Mr. Gardner was married to Miss Marie Peters, a Belgian lady, in
England. To them one child has been born: Martha. Mrs. Gardner is
a woman of culture and refinement and is prominent in the club and
social activities of this community. The Gardner family are consistent
communicants of the Catholic church and Mr. Gardner is a member of
the Knights of Columbus. He is very public-spirited and is never too
busy to cooperate in any movement for the benefit of the community.
