Llewelyn Bethel United Church



Llewelyn Bethel Chapel

This cairn is erected in memory of the Welsh pioneers who came from Patagonia and Wales in the early 1900s and settled in this area.
In 1910 Bethel Methodist Chapel was built on this site, and became the centre for spiritual guidance and fellowship. The religious education of the young people was taught in the Welsh language.
This cairn is also dedicated to those who continued on in the tradiation of these pioneers.

Erected by members and friends of Bethel United Church and the J.Evans memorial fund committee in co-operation with the Department of Natural Resources.

Saltcoats located at Sec.1, Twp.24, R.2, W2
Bangor located at Sec.15, Twp.21, R.3, W2
Llewelyn located at Sec.2, Twp.22, R.3, W2 in the early 1900s
A totally separate location, a Llewellyn was located at Sec.4, Twp.38, R.4, W3 near Sskatoon formed in the late 1800s. Do not confuse this northerly location with the Llewelyn near Bangor-Saltcoats.
