ANDERSON - Joe. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Joe Anderson on December 3, 2010 at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by his wife Louise (Rudrick) Anderson. Joe is survived by his children Paul (Doris), Anne (Ed), Max (Lois) and Tom (Beth) along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Nokomis Health Centre and Hansen's Funeral Home for their excellent care and compassion.

ARN - Mary Arn passed away, quietly, surrounded by her family, on May 19 at the age of 96. Born Mary Young Greenshields in Shawville Quebec, the family moved to Semans, Saskatchewan while she was still an infant. She met her husband Robert "Dr.Bob" Arn at teacher's college and continued her teaching career while raising three sons, Robert, Jack and David. She retained a lively lifelong interest in learning, completing a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Saskatchewan after her retirement. Dr. Bob Arn passed away in 1987 and Mary moved to Ontario to be close to her sons. Mary is survived by her sisters, Lettie McDonald and Esther Jameson; her sons and grandchildren, Spencer, Sydney, Carryn, Dhanya, Mercedes and Phoenix; and was much loved by their extended family and friends.

ARP - Calvin of Semans accidentally passed away April 8, 2002 at the age of 45 years. Predeceased by his mother Alvina. He leaves to mourn his father Leonard, brother Marvin (Cathy), sister Nola (Dave) Jacklin, special friend Pat Sedgwick, numerous relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday April 13, 2002 at 11 AM from Semans United Church. Interment Semans Cemetery.

BAINS - Joseph Norman "Norm" Bains passed away peacefully on October 2, 2014 just 6 days shy of his 86th birthday. He was born at Semans, Sask. on October 8, 1928 to Art and Meta Bains, the youngest of 6 children. He is survived by one sister, Elizabeth (Beth) Foley of Coronach Sask., and one brother, Richard "Dick" Bains of Govan, Sask. Norm will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Verna (Chatterson) Bains; his two sons: Greg (Pam) Bains of Saskatoon, and Warren (Carmen) Bains of West Kelowna; his two daughters: Brenda (Lyle) Bodman of Saskatoon, and Sandra (Brian) Thompson of Saskatoon; his six grandchildren: Lauren Bains, Adam Bains, Michael (Anna) Thompson, Mason Thompson, Natasha (Jeff) Hritzuk, Kristina (Mike) MacKenzie, and Alex (Tasha) Bains; and his four great-grandchildren: Kayla and Danika Hritzuk, and Emma and Will MacKenzie. Norm was first and foremost a family man, and eagerly anticipated visits from all of his family. Norm farmed at Semans, Lucky Lake (where he was also a Federal Grain buyer), and then for 25 years at Wolseley. Following retirement he enjoyed woodworking, playing pool, and visiting with friends and neighbours on coffee row. He was proud to have been a member of the Wolseley Lions Club for over 30 years. Norm's funeral will be held at Tubman's Funeral Chapel, Wolseley, on Saturday October 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.

BARCLAY - Edith Victoria (nee Fraser). A service has been held for Sequim, Washington resident Edith Victoria Barclay, who died Jan. 21, 2007, at the age of 93. She was born Oct. 22, 1913, in Tate, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Donalda (Kells) and Samuel Lee Fraser. She grew up on the prairies of Canada and Nebraska. She graduated from high school in 1931 with secretarial skills and as valedictorian of her class. Later she became personal secretary to the president of the Diamond Match Company. She met the love of her life, Dave Thompson Barclay, a grocer in Seattle, and they married on May 24, 1948. Mrs. Barclay delighted in the role of wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed camping, and camped with her young family all over the western U.S. in a tent-trailer. Seven years after her husband's death in 1980, she moved to Sequim. Mrs. Barclay thoroughly enjoyed the company of her four young grandchildren. She is survived by brother Henry Fraser of Fairfield, Calif., sister Canada Beasley of Marietta, Ga.; son David Lee Barclay of Olympia; daughter Ruth Evalin Barclay of Sequim; and four grandchildren.

BECKER - Ellen (nee Hoscheit). It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ellen Becker, late of Semans, formerly of Grande Cache, Alberta, at Nokomis Health Centre on May 27, 2011. Ellen was born near Prud'homme, Sask, on October 7, 1932. She was predeceased by: her parents Leon and Alice (nee Schmidt) Hoscheit, brother Ray Hoscheit, and husband, Bill Becker. She leaves to mourn: her children Myrna (Allan) Redshaw, Danny (Sharon) Becker, Marilyn (Rev. Bill) Pantzer, Judy (Vince) Deschene, seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of Ellen's life was held on Tuesday May 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Semans Pentecostal Assembly. Lunch followed at 1:00 p.m. at Semans Gym. Special thanks to the angels at Nokomis Health Centre. Hansen's Funeral Home, Strasbourg in care of arrangements. "We'll save room for dessert, Mom."

BECKER - William "Bill" late of Semans, formerly of Grande Cache, Alta. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bill at Nokomis Health Centre on July 13, 2005. Born in Quinton August 16, 1933. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Betty (nee Meyer), brother Henry (Frances) and nephew Calvin Becker. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Ellen, children Myrna (Allan) Redshaw, Danny (Sharon) Becker, Marilyn (Rev. William) Pantzer, Judy (Vince) Deschene, seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, numerous step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial Service celebrating Bill's life will be held on Monday July 18, 2005 at Semans Gym at 2:00 PM.

BELL - Darren Richard. On Saturday, February 23, 2002 Darren Richard of Vancouver passed away at the young age of 38 years. He was predeceased by grandparents Hazel and Sterling Reid and Ernie and Eva Bell. He will be sadly missed by his parents Hugh and Carolyn; sister Serena Bell; nephew Steven Duffy; niece Samantha Duffy; brother Sheldon (Cheryl); nephew Chance; also his son Justin Seniuk; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel of Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK, on Saturday, April 20, 2002 at 12:00 PM, with Rev. Ron Sutton, officiating. Private Burial Service to follow in Semans.

BERKAN Douglas Roy (February 25, 1946 - December 20, 2016). Born at Southey, at age three moved to the farm at Semans, where he worked as a young man. In 1984 he met and fell in love. From his union with Carol, they had Doug Jr. and James. Preceded by his mother in 1994, his father in 1999, and his sister "Patsy" in 2004. Doug leaves to mourn his wife Carol; sons Doug and James; brothers Ralph (Lyda), Neil (Sandra), Brian, Larry (Cheryl), Earl (Donald) and Warren (Maureen); brother-in- law Roy Sellers; and many neices and nephews. Memorial February 25, 2017 at Strasbourg Wildlife Hall, 2:00-4:00 p.m.

BLACK - David Henry Black (August 29, 1926 - November 19, 2011). It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather David Black, at Saskatoon. David was born in Semans, SK. on August 29th, 1926. He was raised on the farm near Tate where he graduated from high school. He worked for the Canadian National Railway, in several small towns and cities, along the main line, for 36 years. On August 15th, 1951 David married his sweetheart, Marjorie Mitchell. He finished his railway career in Saskatoon where he retired in 1986. After retirement, David enjoyed farming with his 4 sons on the farm where he was raised. David was predeceased by his sister Esther and parents James and Etta. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Marjorie of 60 years; son Doug (Laura) Tanis, Jared (Kyla); son Rick (Vivian), Owen (Brenda), great grandchildren Wesley and Samuel, Charlene (Morgan), Shannon (Scott), Marcella (JJ); son Robert (Kathy), Jordan (Kara), Graham; son Don (Marilyn), Kristin and Travis; sister Marjorie and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral will be held on Thursday, November 24th at the Semans United Church at 2:00 pm.

BOTT - Dorothy (nee Dickson) passed away peacefully at William Booth Nursing Home on March 11, 2010. She was predeceased by her father John in 1962, mother Margaret in 1979 and brother Robert in 1990. She is survived by her loving husband Alfred, daughter Deborah (Rene) Goertzen, grandsons Jason (Shelley) Goertzen and Scott Goertzen, Sister Florence (Chris) Dizy of Regina and brother Albert (Milly) Dickson of Regina. Also many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan in 1935. She attended school at Cardigan and Semans High School. After graduating grade 12 she came to Regina. She married Alfred Bott in 1956 and they had a daughter Debbie. She worked at Ash Temple Dental Supplies for 13 years. Her greatest joy was her daughter Debbie and all their shopping days. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Regina Memorial Gardens. Many thanks go to the staff at William Booth.

BREGG - Doris Hazell (nee Tadman). It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Doris who was born May 25, 1914 and died peacefully September 5, 2003 at her home in Stensrud Lodge with her family at her bedside. Predeceased by her infant son, Larry Lynn in 1954; her husband, R. Gerald Bregg in 1970; her daughter, Francis Vicki Shwydky in March 2003; and her sister, Kathleen Duke of Toronto in 1975. Doris took most of her schooling in Victoria where she later worked at Wengers Jewelry, BC. Telephones as a long distant operator and at the Empress Hotel until her marriage in 1942 to Gerry who was stationed at Pat Bay, BC. In 1945 they moved to Semans, SK where Gerry took over the family farm. They lived in Semans until 1959 when they moved to Saskatoon. They owned and operated a boarding house as well as the Avalon Cafe. Doris was a member of the Cancer Society and acted as a convener of drivers for out-oftown cancer patients needing treatment at the University Hospital. She was active in the Annual Cancer drives. She was a Past Matron of Maple Leaf, Chapter #6 Order of the Eastern Star, Semans branch receiving her 50 year pin. She was a former member of St. John's Anglican Church in Saskatoon. In 1977 Doris left Saskatoon to reside in Vancouver and Victoria where she assisted the elderly, some of whom were ill and needed a companion and or house sitter. Doris was always the traveler and visited many countries with a desire to learn and understand their customs and ways. She said when she was old and gray she would always have her memories of trips. In 1997 Doris moved back to Saskatoon to live close to her children and grandchildren. She lived on her own until 1998 when she became ill and moved to the Balicanta Personal Care Home. In 2002 Doris moved to Stensrud Lodge where she resided until she passed away. Doris was always a very positive person with a great sense of humor, courage and strength. She was an avid reader and loved her music. She was a very special lady! Doris is survived by her three children, Donna Gaille Weaver (Bob Parker) Victoria, BC, Darryl Bregg of Brandon, MB and Wendy Lee Wignes (Brent) Saskatoon and seven grandchildren, Denise and Robert Dion; Scott (Teresa) Weaver; David Weaver (Kate Connor); Jennelle, Kirsten, Mallory and Jeret Wignes; son-in-law, Walter Shwydky; and one great-grandson, Cole Dion. Special thanks to Dr. Zane Tymchak for taking such good care of our Mom; to Dr. Lawrence Taranger; and to all the staff at Stensrud Lodge for all their kindness. A Celebration of Life will be held at Stensrud Lodge, 2202 McEowen Ave., Saskatoon on Thursday, September 11 at 2:00 p.m. Doris had desired that her body be donated to medical science (Anatomy Dept.). A private family interment of her cremated remains will take place at a later date in Semans where she will be buried beside her husband and son.

BREGG - Jane "Jenny" (nee Lees) March 22, 1913 - January 26, 2014. Jenny passed away peacefully at Elm View Extendicare on Sunday, January 26, at the age of 100 years. She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Margaret Lees, brothers Jack and Walter, husband Gordon, and special friends Betty and Florie Johnston. Jane Watt Lees was born on March 22, 1913 in Durham County, North East England. Somewhere during her childhood days, Jane became Jenny to family and friends. Her favourite pastimes were music, going to the seaside, travelling, reading and knitting. These interests gave her a great deal of pleasure her entire life and her homemade afghans adorn many sofas of family and friends. At the age of 14 years her formal education ended and she entered the workforce as a nanny. Near the start of WWII she enlisted in the British Air Force. It was during the early years of the war that she met the love of her life at a dance, Gordon Bregg, who was stationed in England with the Canadian army. They married on June 19, 1943. Spring of 1946, she immigrated to a vast, foreign prairie home and was immersed into the close-knit, large Bregg clan. Gordon and Jenny lived to celebrate 53 anniversaries together. During her 56 years as a Semans resident, Jenny was very involved with the community. She was a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Legion, a member of the Rebecca Lodge and was a committed parishioner of St. Leonard's Anglican Church in association with the ACW (Anglican Church Women); her quiet faith sustained her over the years. Jenny leaves to mourn her daughter Carol, granddaughters Jacqueline, Jane (Vincent) and Carrie (Craig), nephews Walter and Ian Lees, nieces Vivian Bregg, Beverley (Gil) Pomrenke and family, Marnie Kerr (Bregg) and family, and special friend Muriel Chymko. Jenny's family wishes to thank the staff at Qu'Appelle House and Elm View Extendicare for their care and compassion for her over the years. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held in Semans United Church at a later date.

BRIGHTMAN - Frances Faye (nee Early). The family of Faye Brightman are sad to announce her passing on January 4th, 2013, at the age of 98 years. She was predeceased by her father, Frank Early, mother Hilda Early, brother James Early, husband Douglas Brightman and daughter Alice Moon. Born on the family homestead north of Semans, she resided for many years in the Semans area and in Regina where she worked at Simpson?s in the toy department while raising her four daughters. Left to mourn her passing are daughters Maxine Reavley (Semans), Claire Botkin (Calgary), Susan Shindelka (Nokomis); grand-daughters Kathy Reavley, Lynn Langrock, Laura Hughes and Anne Ritchie; plus her great granddaughters and grandsons whom she cherished. While very shy as a young girl, in later years she became known for her independence and her determination to stay active, capable and in control of her life for as long as possible.

BRIGHTMAN - George Edward Brightman, was born April 27, 1933 on the family farm at Tate, SK and died January 31, 2008 in Ottawa, ON with wife Florence and step-daughter Irene by his side. He was predeceased by his father and mother, John and Anna (Hudasek) Brightman, first wife Pat of Ottawa, brothers Gordon of Regina, James (Clara) and Douglas of Semans, and brothers-in-law Siegfried Hehn and Larry Koch of Regina. He is survived by his wife Florence and step-daughter Irene of Ottawa, sisters Alice Hehn and Barbara Koch of Regina, brother David (Irma) of Semans, sisters-in-law Faye of Semans and Edna of Regina, 11 nieces and nephews, 18 great-nieces and nephews and four great-great-nieces and nephews. George attended Killarney, Tate and Semans schools and enlisted in the Air Force when he was 18. He received the Governor General's Award for Excellence when he graduated from flight school. He taught flying for a number of years at the Moose Jaw Air Base and after a flying accident in 1953 in which he nearly lost his life, severe burns caused him life long problems. After his recovery, he taught ground school flying. George returned to Ottawa after serving in the Gaza Strip in Egypt for one year. He worked for the department of National Defense. After retiring from the federal government George and his wife Florence pursued many other endeavours. The funeral service took place February 11, 2008 in Ottawa. Interment was in the military section of the Beechwood Cemetery.

CARY - Ernest Neil passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, December 31, 2006 in Regina, SK, after a courageous battle with cancer. Neil was born on May 22, 1931 in Semans, SK. Neil is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate, Lorna Cary; sons, Clarence (Charlene) Cary, Kelly (Cindy) Cary and Bobby (Carrie) Cary; stepchildren, Lori Smythe, Keith Zimmer and Brad (Marty) Zimmer; brother, Lorne (Joan) Cary; sisters, Irene Sheils, Nola (Allan) Massey and Beryl (Syd) Dudley; brother in law, Gerald (Shirley) Leik; sister in law, Dorothy Merk; grandchildren, Wayne, Brandon, Jason, Kyle, Dylan, Vanessa, Sabrina, Jem, Leslie, Chea, Jaymie, Ryan, Jesse, Alicia and Adam, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a multitude of close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mertyl Cary; a brother in infancy; brother, Reg Cary and sister, Dorothy Lenz. Thank you to all the doctors, especially Dr. Clein and all the wonderful nurses of Pasqua Hospital 3A Palliative Care and Wascana Grace Hospice. At Neil's request, cremation will take place with a Private Memorial Service.

CHAMBERLIN ? Hilda (nee Schaffer). It is with great sadness the family of Hilda Chamberlin announces her passing on August 18, 2004, at the age of 86. Hilda was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan and spent most of her life in the Semans area. Hilda loved to sew, crochet, garden and cook and was always sharing her talents with family, community and friends. Her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and her love for her church was evident in all she did. Hilda was predeceased by her loving husband Irvan, as well as two sons, David and Claire, her father Frederick Schaffer, her mother Molly and her sister Pauline (Cecil) Creamer. She leaves to mourn her brother Alec (May), Fred (Pat), Victory (Hilda), and Tillie (Jacob) Den Blecker. Hilda is survived by her children: Shirley Chamberlin, Ruth (Bob) Thompson, Wes (Rhonda) Chamberlin, Wanda (Warren) Shiels, Ross Chamberlin, Trevor (Leona) Chamberlin, Ielene Chamberlin, Joan (Alan) Martin, Leonard (Cathy) Copeman, Bob (Colleen) Copeman, and Ronald Copeman. During her lifetime, Hilda cared for many foster children. Funeral Services will be held in the Semans Pentecostal Church, Semans Saskatchewan on Saturday August 21, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the Semans Cemetery.

CHAMBERLIN - Irvan. The death of Irvan Chamberlin aged 89 years of Nokomis and formerly of Semans, SK occurred at theNokomis Health Centre on Wednesday, June 19, 2002. The Funeral Service will be held in Semans Pentecostal Church on Tuesday, June 25th at 2 p.m. conducted by Pastor Rodger Halvorsen. Interment will follow in Semans Cemetery. Irvan was predeceased by his parents, brother Edwin, sister Mildred, two sons, David and Claire. He is survived by his loving wife Hilda; four daughters, Shirley Down of Saskatoon, Ruth (Bob) Thompson of Rocky Mountain, Wanda (Warren) Shiels of Semans, Ielene (Bob) Marshall of Semans; three sons, Wes (Rhonda) of Semans, Trevor (Leona) of Prince Albert and Ross of Raymore; 28 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sisters Elsie McCall and Pauline Bridge; brother Ross (Frances). Irvan was also a father to Joan (Al) Martin, Leonard (Kathy) Copeman, Bob (Colleen) Copeman, Ron Copeman, Hazel and Lorretta Punt.

CHAMBERLIN - Ross Earl. After a short illness, Ross Earl Chamberlin of Hudson Township died on June 22, 2006. He was born in Tate, Sask. on November 11, 1918 to Cephas and Martha-Jane (nee Weatherup) Chamberlin. Educated in Tate, he moved to this area in 1934 and married Frances Lillian Melitzer in New Liskeard on May 25, 1941. Mr. Chamberlin worked as a sales clerk and farmer. He loved his farm and family and helping others. Mr. Chamberlin is survived by his wife Frances; children and their spouses Esther and Bob Osmond, Irvan Chamberlin, Lillian and Dave Broomer, Dale and Susan Chamberlin; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters Pauline Brydge and Elsie McCall. He was predeceased by his brothers Irvan and Ed, sister Mildred Perratt and one grandchild. The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard with the service conducted by family members and friends outdoors on the family farm. Pallbearers were Joshua, Timothy and Tyler Broomer, Jory Chamberlin, Adam Chamberlin, John and Matthew Perisic and Jack Olewniczak. Burial is at Lakeview Cemetery in Harris Township. Family and friends from southern and Northern Ontario attended the funeral.

CHRISTIE - Amanda Pauline (nee Oehler) Christie. It is with deep regrets and sadness that the family of Amanda Pauline Christie announces her passing on March 24, 2008. Amanda was born August 29, 1917 in Regina, Saskatchewan, one of five sisters and a brother. She married Alexander Christie on March 7, 1942 and they had two children, Darlene (Wright) and Brian both born in Saskatchewan. In 1950, they left Saskatchewan for Ontario where they farmed for a short time before Alex obtained work at General Motors in Oshawa. Amanda was a dedicated homemaker, enjoyed cooking, gardening and her home. Like many of her time, she knew how to sew clothing and knit wool garments for her grandchildren, Nikki and Neil. Dolls were dressed in her homemade finery! Amanda was predeceased by her husband in 1995, her sisters Martha Oehler (Strasbourg), Hilda Strauss (Strasbourg), Selma Yaki (North Battleford) and brother Albert Oehler (Semans). She is survived by her sister Sophie Helen Baidak of Lament, AB. Amanda lived in Ontario, but her heart remained in Saskatchewan. Her most vivid memories were of her youth with friends and family in Semans and Strasbourg areas. Amanda was cremated on March 26,2008 with a private family interment on May 24,2008 as per her wishes. On behalf of her family in Ontario, we want to thank Sophie, all of her cousins, nieces and nephews and all of her friends who remained in contact these many years. You will never know how much it meant to her to have you in her heart.

COLE - Marion (nee MacDonald). Mrs. Marion Cole passed away peacefully on Thursday December 27, 2001 in the Nokomis Health Centre at the age of 92 years, with her son and daughter-in-law at her side. Marion is lovingly remembered by her 4 children: Ileen, Lorne, Betty Lou (Jim), Marvin (Judy); special friend Keith Cole; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild. Marion was predeceased by her husband Clifford, her son Douglas and daughter in law Esther, brother William, parents William and Kathleen Macdonald; son in law Victor Darasch; great-grandson Marc Langlois. Marion was born in Yorkton, SK on January 24, 1909 and lived most of her life in the Semans district. After her husband passed away Marion continued to take in boarders and made a home away from home for many people over the years. She loved her home, her flowers, her gardens and her life in Semans. Marion was a member of the Semans Legion Auxiliary for many years and took part in many community activities. A Funeral Service will be held in the Semans United Church, Semans, SK on Monday December 31, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Semans Cemetery.

COLE - Winnifred N. "Winnie", age 86, late of Saskatoon and formerly of Semans, SK, passed away on Sunday, November 23rd, 2003. A Graveside Service will take place at the Semans Cemetery.

COWLING - James Valdon Corser (February 8, 1933 - May 22, 2010). Our beloved husband, dad, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the age of 77. He was predeceased by son Wayne, parents, Horace & Isabel Cowling, in-laws Millie & Roy Zander, brothers Walter (Marian) Cowling, Henry (Mignon) Cowling, Fred (Jessie) Cowling, sisters Mary (Alvie) Shaw, Teresa (Sandy) Walker, Ruby (Alf) Copeman, son-in-law Dave Dech, brothers-in-law Pete Repski & Paul Evanovich. Jim leaves to mourn his wife Marjorie, daughters Valerie (George) Curran, Cheryl Dech, Karen (Cliff) Butchko, son Garth (Cheryl) Cowling, 8 grandchildren Baron, Robin, Terry, Tylor, George, Jason, Carmen and Easton, 7 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Ralph (Karen) Zander, sisters, Doreen, Violet, Dorothy, Edith and brother Bert, several nieces & nephews. CUMING - Dorothy May (nee Hancock). 1912 - 2003 Dorothy May Lititia Hancock Cuming passed away peacefully at Bethany Care Calgary, AB, Tuesday, October 07, 2003 at the age of 90 years. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by stepson Norman (Betty), son Gordon, daughter, Karen (Keith) Weimer, Grandson Steven (Katherine), granddaughters Kristin, Lisa, Robin, all of Calgary, granddaughter Beverly (Chris), great granddaughter, Melissa of Airdrie and great grandson Michael of Calgary, sister-in laws Evelyn of Govan, SK and Haldis, of Saskatoon, SK, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends across Canada. She was born on the family farm near Tate, SK. After marrying John Wesley Cuming in 1945, they moved to Manitoba then retuned to Saskatchewan in 1954. She joined her children in Alberta in 1985. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; Aquilla and Florence, step-mother Gertie, husband, John (1970), brothers Wesley (2002) and Lorne (2003). A celebration of her life will be held at Knox Metropolitan United Church, 2340 Victoria Avenue SW, Saturday, November 1, 2002 at 1:30 pm pm, Rev. Robert A. Kitchen officiating. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in The City of Regina Cemetery.

DAVIDSON - Walter Cecil. The death of Walter Cecil Davidson aged 50 years of Semans, SK. occurred at the Nokomis Health Centre in Nokomis, SK. on Tuesday, March 13, 2001. The Memorial Service will be held in the Semans School Gymnasium on Monday, March 19th at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Sherran Schick.

DICKSON Margaret Edith(nee Nicolson). With family by her side, Margaret passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the age of 94 years. On March 9, 1923 on the family farm south of Semans, SK, she was the eighth child born to Malcolm and Jean Nicolson. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband Hilliand (1997); her parents, her siblings and their spouses Jesse, James (Rose), Willy (Dorcas), Tena (Len), Jean (Cal, Bud), and Lillian. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Jean (John) Hillmer and Irene (Del) Ludvigsen; granddaughters Jennifer (Walter) Norquay, Janice Hillmer and Kerri Ludvigsen; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Logan Norquay; her sister Mary Stokes; and her extended family and friends. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at First Baptist Church, 2241 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. where she was an active member for many years. A private interment will follow later that day at the Semans Cemetery.

DIGNEY - Leslie (Les) of Semans passed away September 19, 2002 at the age of 79 years. Predeceased by one brother Stewart. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Margaret, three daughters Lynn (Lyle) Davis, Faye (Trevor) Potts and Karen Woods, one son Bob (Jose Verwimp), five grandchildren, one brother Len (Eva), one sister Evelyn (Alf) Webb, several nieces, nephews and friends. DIGNEY - Margaret Jenny (nee Dunville) Digney, of Semans, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2011 at Raymore Silver Heights Special Care Home with family at her side. Marg leaves to mourn: Lynn (Lyle) Davis, Bob (Jose) Digney, Faye (Trevor) Potts and Karen Woods, and five grandchildren. She is survived by: brothers, Stan Dunville, Earle Dunville and Jake Dunville; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Webb and Eva Digney. She is predeceased by: her husband, Les; infant son, Alien; sisters, Avis, Ena, Florence, Joyce; brothers, Shirley, Ait; brothers-in-law, Len Digney, Stewart Digney, Murray Robinson, Arnold Boam, Bob Morris; sisters-in-law, Nellie Dunville and Peggy Dunville. Marg was born on April 17, 1923 to Bill and Ella Dunville on the farm south east of Raymore. She attended public school at Wallenstein and moved to Raymore to complete her Grade 12. She enrolled in Balfour Tech Collegiate and completed a business course. She then moved to Toronto and worked as a secretary/ bookkeeper.Marg moved back home to Raymore in 1948 to help care for her mom. Marg was an avid dancer and would attend local functions. She told us of one time she and Shirley won a ballroom dancing contest at the Trianon Ballroom in Regina. It was at a dance in Copeland where she met Les Digney. They were married in Regina on December 2,1949. During the next years, they were busy farming and raising Lynn, Bob, Faye and Karen. Mom and Dad were active volunteers in Semans. They belonged to various organizations such as the Legion, Legion Auxilliary, and Semans Curling Club. Marg was a devoted wife and mother and gifted home maker. She was known for her bread and buns. Often, we would come home to find fresh cinnamon buns. Many friends liked to come out for lunch after a function because she always served her canned chicken, fresh buns and home made pickles. Mom taught us to knit, crochet and sew. She made many of our clothes. She was our best friend. The family sincerely thanks staff at Silver Heights for the loving and excellent care they provided Mom during her stay.

DOIDGE - Wilfred James aged 71 years, died at Nokomis, Sask. on Tuesday, August 17th, 1993. Wilf was predeceased by his parents Walter and Blanche (nee Paget) Doidge; a sister Eva in infancy; his father and mother-in-law Joe and Byng Nadiger; brothers-in-law Louis Ritz, Bill Ellis, and Walter Nadiger; sister-in-law Mary (Young) Doidge. Wilf is survived by his loving wife Beth; daughters Joanne (Wayne) Bolt, Patricia (Walter) Davidson, Linda (Dwayne) Law; son Gary Doidge; grandchildren Dean and Chad Bolt, Bradley, Mitchell, and Jared Davidson, Taryl and Janelle Law. Wilf is also survived by a brother Ted; brother-in-law Herb (Elaine) Nadiger; sisters-in-law Aline Ritz, Connie Ellis, Edith Nadiger; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service at Semans United Church on Saturday, August 21st, 1993 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation with inurnment in Semans Cemetery.

DUFFIELD - Dennis Fred passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012 at the age of 87. Dennis was predeceased by his wife Irene, brothers Elgin Duffield and Murray Duffield; nephews Bryan, Terry, and niece Robin Duffield. He is survived by his daughter Laurraine Duffield and his son Maurice (Jana) Duffield and family (Lee, Darby, Trenton); brothers Kenny Duffield and Vance (Ethel) Duffield; brothers-in-law Mel (Eileen) McKnight, Brian (Linda) McKnight, Darwin McClughan; and sister-in-law Jean Rogers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was born in Central Butte and moved to Semans when he was 14. He spent his life farming in the Semans and Govan area, where he remained active on the farm until his passing.

DUFFIELD - Robin Margaret, of Semans, passed away December 23, 2000 at the Pasqua Hospital. She was born June 6, 1956, the daughter of Kenneth and Ruth Duffield of Semans. She received her elementary and high school in Govan then was employed at the Semans Credit Union. Her next position was as a teacher aide and librarian at the Govan School, followed by a move to Regina where she worked at the Sherwood Credit Union while taking university classes. For summer employment she worked for the Provincial Highway Traffic Board. The following year, she was employed by the Department of Municipal Affairs where provincial property assessment was entered into a computer system and where she first learned computer skills. When the project was completed, she returned home and for several years made excellent use of her 4-H training in dressmaking and tailoring. Robin belonged to Semans Legion Auxiliary and the Govan Eastern Star. She received a certificate in horticulture through community college classes and was the librarian in Semans until her health failed. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, December 29, 2000 at 2 PM from Semans United Church. Archdeacon Ken Buchan and Reverend Don Wells officiated. Mrs. Evelyn Hancock was the organist.

DUFFIELD - Ruth (nee Richardson) Duffield passed away peacefully March 9, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Ruth is survived by her husband Ken; and was predeceased by her daughter Robin in 2000. Ruth was born and raised in the Semans area, taking all her schooling in Semans and graduating in 1944 from Semans High School. Ruth married Ken Duffield in October, 1948, and they farmed in the Govan / Semans area for many years. As a member of the School Board, Ruth played the piano for pupils marching into school morning and afternoon while at school. Ruth also played the harmonica at church services. When Semans Anglican Church joined St. Martins Anglican Church in Raymore, Ruth played the organ for services and continued to do so to date. For many years she played piano for the Legion Remembrance Services and meetings, as well as the Eastern Star meetings. In her late teens and early 20's she played in a local orchestra led by Sid Staigh. Ruth also contributed to music festivals . As a young girl she sang at local festivals, and later when the local festival was revised she acted as a committee member for a number of years filling several roles. In more recent years her services have been called on for a variety of productions, filling in for the pianist for the Senior Citizens singing group at times and organist for Women's World Day of Prayer, as well as some carol festivals. Ruth and Ken were members of the Regina Dance Club. About 14 years ago Ruth and Ken gave ballroom dancing lessons to different community groups, travelling to many towns. These were done in connection with the Community College in the area over a number of years, and were much appreciated. Ruth also helped the school graduates prepare their steps for their graduation ceremony. Ruth has made a valuable contribution to her community musically as well as in many other ways. Ruth will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

DYER - Florence Evelyn (nee Brown). On Friday, December 6, 2002 at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, Sask. Florence was born in Des Moines, Iowa, U.S.A. on August 25, 1907. In her youth she traveled to Canada to a farm near Strasbourg with her father William Brown, mother Cecelia; and several brothers and sisters. In 1935 she married Charles H. Dyer and farmed in the Semans district until his death on Sept. 16, 1971. Early in 1972 she moved to "Cheryl Court" Regina where she had many good friends andenjoyed countless "crib" card games. In November 1998 Florence moved to Dunsmore Place Care Home and later to South Gemini Care Home. Family and friends thank the care-givers for their never ending T.L.C. and support. Florence was the only remaining member of her immediate family and was predeceased by her sister Mildred Rambo on Feb. 9, 2002. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, two being Mildred's twins Carol Krajnak and Melvin Rambo living in the Des Moines, Iowa area. Her Regina friends Hilda and Bud Findlay, Lorna and Jerome Pasloski, Loris and Olga Roth, Elsie and Ernie Whelpton and Helen Leier will miss her friendship and her love for playing crib. She will also be missed by her friends from the Argyle Road Baptist Church where she attended for years and whose members still visited her. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 11 at 2:00 p.m. in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Ron Phillips officiating.

EGGLETON - Gordon David Eggleton passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18th, 2006 at the Regina Pasqua Hospital in his 84th year. Gordon was born to William and Bessie Eggleton on October 6th, 1921 at Semans, SK. Gordon along with his brother Harold grew up on the family farm at Semans. After finishing his schooling Gordon continued to farm until his retirement. On June 17th, 1978 Gordon married Lillian Kram and they resided in Raymore, SK for many years, then spent their final few years together in Regina, SK. Three of Gordon's greatest passions in life were trapping, hunting and fishing. Along with his love for the great outdoors Gordon became an accomplished photographer. His love of nature went hand in hand with his photography skills, evident in his many wonderful still photography shots. Another love of Gordon's was the ability to invent and build. He could take an idea and turn it into a reality. Many will remember the pea shelling machines, paint shakers and even snow machines that he toiled over until perfected. His ability to build carried over to his collection and repair of many antiques, including his cherished 1953 Mercury and 1949 DeSota. In later years he stayed in touch with his interests through reading. Gordon spent many hours reading and stored a wealth of information. His father William; his mother Bessie; and his wife of 26 years Lillian predeceased Gordon. Gordon leaves to mourn, his brother Harold; his three daughters: Bonnie (Wayne) Back, Laurie (Bruce) Buitenhuis and Kathy (Dave) Adams; grandchildren: Michael Back, Colin Back, Angie (Ryan) Ward, Bryan Buitenhuis, Jared Buitenhuis, Brad Adams and Courtney Adams; niece Diane (Ken) Doidge and family; nephew Larry (Louise) and family; and many other relatives, friends and neighbours. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, May 21st, 2006 at 7:00 P.M. at Semans United Church Cemetery, Semans, SK. EGGLETON - Harold passed away on September 19, 2013 at Silver Heights in Raymore at the age of 90. He was born on the family farm at Semans, Sask. to William and Bessie. Harold served in the RCAF from 1942-1946, spending three years in England, and was a proud member of the Semans Legion. Harold was a farmer and a jack of all trades, operating a cat in his spare time, and serving on the Raymore fire board for several years. Harold truly enjoyed visiting with his friends on coffee row. He loved the outdoors, enjoying camping, fishing and snowmobiling in the winter especially if a grandson could go with him. Harold was predeceased by his parents, brother Gordon and sister-in-law Lil. He will be forever remembered by his family; son Larry (Louise) and daughter Diane (Ken) Doidge, 5 grandchildren, 16 great-grandkids and 1 great-great-grandchild. A Legion graveside service was held at the Semans Cemetery on October 12, 2013.

EISLER - Lawrence. In loving memory of Lawrence (Larry) Eisler, late of Regina, who passed away peacefully the morning of November 23, 2003. Predeceased by his parents John and Magdalena Eisler; brothers Frank, Max, Joseph, John; and infant sister Mary, Larry is survived by his loving wife Ruby (Culling), sons Keith (Ann) of Langley, B.C. and Dwight of Balgonie, Sask.; daughter Patricia (Bill) King of Parksville, B.C. and Eadie Goldsworthy of Regina; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Larry is also survived by his sister Caroline McLean and brother Robert (Mary) of Regina, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was born on June 7, 1909 on a farmstead just outside of Semans, Sask. The family moved to Raymore and from there, to Kendal, Sask. Larry received his education in Kendal and at Campion College, Regina. He chose a career with the CNR and attended Telegrapher's College in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His career as a Station Agent spanned forty-six years and had many stops throughout Saskatchewan. Larry retired from the CNR in Estevan and he and Ruby resided there until their move to Regina. Larry's other great love was sports, especially hockey and baseball, playing both for over thirty years. Larry also had a lifelong love affair with people and he befriended them from all walks of life. Larry's faith was strong and he was active in his Church and parishes. Larry resided in The Santa Maria Nursing Home for the past four years. A special thank you to Sr. Denise and staff for the wonderful care they provided for Dad. FELTON - George Thomas. Tom passed away on Tuesday April 11th 2006 in a tragic accident at the family farm at the age of 52. He leaves to mourn, his wife of 30 years, Janice, three children: Jennifer (Clarke) Moebis of Beechy, SK, Scott of Regina, SK and Chris (Elana) of Edmonton, AB. He also leaves his mother Shirley Felton, brother Terry (Pat) Felton, sisters Boni (Claude) Felton-Masse and Debbie. He will also be sadly missed by his mother in law Doreen Kirkham of Melfort, brothers in law, Randy (Linda), Jim (Denise), Keith (Susan) and Tom Wong, numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his father Fred Felton & father in law Ken Kirkham as well as aunts & uncles. Tom loved his family & the land. He was extremely proud of all his children & their endeavours as they explored life. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday April 16th at 2:00 p.m. in the Semans Gymnasium with Rev. FELTON - Shirley Margaret (April 5, 1929 - January 15, 2009). The family of Shirley Felton, formerly of Semans, announce her passing on Friday, January 15, 2010. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Fred Felton in 1986 and her son, Tom Felton in 2006. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by daughter-in-law Janice of Semans, son Terry (Patt) of Calgary, and daughters Debbie of Regina and Bonita (Claude) of Calgary. Shirley cherished her grandchildren: Jennifer (Clark), Scott, Chris (Elena), Jessica (Rob), Cory, Jonathan, Jordan, Jadan, Kyle and Andrew. She especially adored her great-granddaughters Jaina and Kyla. Shirley was born in Mullingar, Sask and raised on a farm there. She married Fred Felton in 1953 and they raised their children on the family farm until they moved into Semans in 1973. Shirley actively worked on the farm and along with Tom & Janice was a proud recipient of the Century Farm Award in 2005. Shirley was a 4-H leader for 35 years, enjoying the presence of young people in her home. She was involved in 4-H on the district, regional and provincial levels and was inducted into the Saskatchewan 4-H Hall of Fame. Shirley was an active member of the Semans Legion Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. Shirley was always willing to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed a good game of cards, especially crib, curling and gardening. A memorial service will be held on Thursday January 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Semans United Church.

FINDLAY - Edward Wesley "Bud" passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the age of 83 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Jean Findlay and his daughter Echo Lavonne Findlay. Bud is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hilda (nee Butz), his children; Dennis, Lyle and Audrey Neufeld, her husband Walt Neufeld and two grandchildren, Chad and Kristy Neufeld. The family wishes to thank the Neurological staff at the Regina General Hospital for the loving care given to Bud during his time there. After four years (1941-45) in the Royal Canadian Air force, Bud threw himself into his lifelong passion of farming on the family farm located 15 miles south of Semans. He also filled the role of municipal councilor for 24 years as well as being active in the Serath Elbourn Lutheran Church. Bud and Hilda wintered in Hemet, California for 26 years where they forged a host of life long friendships. Family, friends and helping others was central to Bud's life. He will be missed by all and in particular his card playing circle. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 30, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. in Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK., with Pastor Bob Leeson, officiating.

FINDLAY - Hilda Julia (nee Butz), born Southey, Sask, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday September 12, 2014 at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her parents John and Regina Butz, three sisters, two brothers, her husband Bud and daughter Echo Lavonne Findlay. Hilda is survived by her children; Dennis and Lyle Findlay, Audrey Neufeld and husband Walt Neufeld and her two grandchildren Chad and Kristy Neufeld, her sister Doreen and husband Bill Muloin and sister-in-law Irene Butz, nieces nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Golden Years Manor for their loving care of Hilda during her two year stay there and their kindness to us. Hilda and Bud farmed the family farm 15 miles south of Semans where their engagement and contribution to many community organizations were much valued. Hilda's dedication to family, her love of gardening, cooking, card playing as well as her loyalty to friends will be remembered and treasured by many. FISHER - Marjorie May (nee Bedford). December 7, 1919 October 10, 2004. Marjorie passed away peacefully in the Kelowna Hospital following a sudden illness . She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford, in 1974. She leaves to grieve her companion of 28 years, William Magel, her daughter Sandra (Lloyd) Benson, brother, Gordon (Ina) Bedford, sister Joyce (Elmore) Ward, and sister, Doreen Rattai, and her grandchildren Jay (Anne) Benson, Marnie (James) Pope, and Paul (Christen) Benson; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Julie Benson, and Cassidy and Cheyenne Pope, as well as many nieces and nephews. Marjorie grew up in the Wadena area, and lived in Wynyard, Regina, Semans and Kelowna over the years of her life. A service in celebration of her life was held in Kelowna on Thursday, October 14, 2004.

FORBES - John Toogood passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the Nokomis Health Centre in Nokomis, SK. He was predeceased by his wife Sarah in January 2005 and grandson David. John is survived by his son Don (Donna); granddaughter Annette (Rob); great grandson Justin; granddaughter Vanessa (Morgan); grandson Michael; son Doug; daughter-in-law Corrine; granddaughter Terri (Rob); great granddaughter Kristen, granddaughter Susan; sister Dorothy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John served overseas in World War II. He was with the Artillery 15th Field RCA and served in Canada, the United Kingdom and in Continental Europe as Sergeant. John and Sarah farmed in the Semans District. A special thanks is extended to all the staff of the Nokomis Health Centre for all their compassion and care shown to John and his family. A Memorial Service will be held at Semans School Gym, King Street, Semans, SK on Monday, April 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Semans Cemetery.

FORBES - Sarah Alfreda (nee Woodworth) passed away on January 18, 2005 at the Nokomis Health Centre in Nokomis, SK. Sarah was predeceased by her sister, Cora Kaufhold. She is survived by her husband, John "Jack" Forbes; son, Don (Donna), granddaughter, Annette (Rob); great-grandson, Justin; granddaughter, Vannessa; grandson Micheal; son, Doug; daughter-in-law, Corrine, granddaughter, Terri (Rob); great-granddaughter, Kristen; granddaughter, Susan; brother, Doug (Faye) Woodworth; brother-in-law, Frank Kaufhold; and many nieces and nephews. Sarah was born to Bowman and Charlotte Woodworth in 1924 at Clavet, SK where the family farmed and bought grain. They remained at Clavet until 1936 when they moved to Naicam, SK where Sarah completed her grade 12 education. In 1944, after completing the College of Business, she moved to Semans. She took a position with the Bank of Montreal in Semans and while employed there she met John Forbes. After a few years of courtship, John and Sarah were married on October 9, 1948. Sarah and John raised two chosen sons and baptized them Donald and Douglas. John and Sarah became residents of the Village of Semans in 1982. Sarah was very active in local organizations and became Secretary/ Treasurer of the following organizations: I.O.D.E, United Church Evening Circle, Semans United Church Sunday School and the local Cubs and Scouts. A memorial service will take place at Semans Pentecostal Assembly, Semans, SK, on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rodger Halvorsen officiating.

FRANKS - Christina Helen (nee Nicolson) February 24, 1918 - March 12, 2012. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Christina Franks, late of Regina Pioneer Village, and formerly of Raymore, Sask, at the age of 94 years. Tena was the fourth child born to Malcolm and Jean Nicolson on the family farm south east of Semans, Sask. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Len Franks, sister Jessie Nicolson, brothers James and William Nicolson and by her infant sister Lillian Nicolson, as well as by several brothers and sisters in law. Tena was also predeceased by her grandson Leonard John Franks and by her great-granddaughter, Robyn Christina Curran Kram, both in infancy. Tena will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Doug (Dianne) Franks, Jim (Joanne) Franks and by her daughter Cheryl (Les) Kram; grandchildren, Todd Franks and Lynn Schenher, Brad and Mike Kram, Melissa Mann and Darren Franks; great-grandchildren Lauren and Luke Schenher, Cohen and Reaghan Mann and Mason and Michael Kram. She is also survived by her sisters Jean Stimson, Mary Stokes, Margaret Dickson, sisters-in-law Dorcas Nicolson and Veta Potts and by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at St. Martin's Anglican Church in Raymore, Sask. on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Doug Armbruster officiating.

FRASER - Donna Lee of Saskatoon, Sask. passed away peacefully on December 9, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Donna was born in Nokomis, SK on November 5, 1954, the daughter of Elmer and Shirley Fraser of Semans. Donna moved to Saskatoon at a young age and was a hairdresser by trade. She eventually migrated into sales and office management in the beauty supply industry, where she was adored by hair stylists throughout central Saskatchewan. This adoration was not limited to the beauty supply industry for Donna brought a great amount of joy to all that encountered this small ball of energy. Her incredible sense of humour and her propensity to help others were traits admired by friends and family alike. Even during her long and arduous 18-year battle with cancer, Donna always tried to put a smile on the faces of all she met ? whether they were old time friends or new acquaintances. "I get by with a little help from my friends" ? the Beatles. In her last months, Donna relied heavily on the generosity of her dear friends Louise Cerniuk and Diane Hubelit as well as many others ? all who gave their precious time to someone they sincerely loved. A special thank you to Donna's personal caregiver and friend, Dorothy Gerbrandt, who opened her home to Donna and made her last months so memorable. Donna is survived by her siblings, Marlene (Maurice) and Blair of Semans, Trent (Lorette) of Regina and Darren of Edmonton. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Chastity Simister of Edmonton, Logan (Karleen), Corbin (Kristian), Payden (Kayla) of Regina and Tealyn (Razvan) of Calgary; as well as 4 great-nieces, Bryce Erhardt, Brianna and Julia Simister of Edmonton and London Fraser of Regina. FRASER - Elmer George of Semans, Sask. passed away peacefully at the Lanigan Hospital on December 14, 2012. Elmer was born April 28, 1923 and grew up in the Tate district. As a young man he successfully showed Percheron horses throughout North America with his father, George, and in the 70s and 80s he was a much-loved school bus driver in the Govan School Unit. Elmer was a dedicated farmer all his life - to the point that he drove combine in this past harvest at the age of 89. In his later years Elmer loved spending his time fishing, playing cribbage with his nephew, Maynard Phillips, and reading western novels. Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley, and their children, Marlene (Maurice) and Blair of Semans, Donna of Saskatoon, Trent (Lorette) of Regina and Darren of Edmonton. He will be lovingly remembered by 5 grandchildren, Chastity Simister of Edmonton, Logan (Karleen) of Regina, Corbin of Halifax, Tealyn of Calgary and Payden of Regina as well as 3 great grand-daughters, Bryce Erhardt, Brianna and Julia Simister of Edmonton. Elmer also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and neighbours. By request there will be no funeral.

FRASER - Shirley Aileen (nee Gandrud) of Semans, Sask. passed away peacefully at the Nokomis Health Centre on November 10, 2014. Shirley was born in Nokomis on March 3, 1928 and was married 65 years to Elmer Fraser who passed away on December 14, 2012. Shirley was the consummate farm wife who grew a large garden, raised chickens and other farm animals in addition to cooking for a large family. Further to this, she loved nothing better than to feed all visitors that came into their farmyard located in the Tate district. As well as knowing her way around the kitchen she was known to drive grain truck and throw bales in her younger days. A very intelligent person, Shirley had an incredible sense of humour and always had a joke to share. In her later years she loved to knit as well as crochet afghans that she would give to those in need. Shirley is survived by her children, Marlene (Maurice) and Blair of Semans, Donna of Saskatoon, Trent (Lorette) of Regina and Darren of Edmonton. She will be lovingly remembered by five grandchildren, Chastity Simister of Edmonton, Logan (Karleen), Corbin (Kristian), Payden of Regina and Tealyn of Calgary as well as four great- granddaughters, Bryce Erhardt, Brianna and Julia Simister of Edmonton and London Fraser of Regina. GETTIS - Mary (nee Knowles) June 12, 1923 - June 14, 2012. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Gettis in Calgary on June 14th at the age of 89. Mary was predeceased by her parents and Duain, her husband of 52 years. She is survived by her six children: Jim (Barbara), Dawn (Stephen), Denise (Allen), Ken (Bernadette), Kevin (Lynn), and Gary (Melody). She will be greatly missed by her sister, Marie (Ray) Roberts of England. She was also the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mary was born in Bradbury, England on June 12, 1923, and lived with her parents, James and Rachel Knowles and sister, Marie, in Great Harwood, Lancashire. In 1939, she joined the Royal Air Force where she met Duain Gettis, a gunner with the Royal Artillery. They married on January 9, 1945 in England and lived the majority of their life on a farm near Semans, Sask. Mary enjoyed many years at their condo in Mesa, Arizona where she loved to entertain and golf. After Duain passed away, she moved to Calgary to be near Denise and family. She will be missed for her smile, great sense of humour, and her ready laugh. The Funeral Mass will take place in Raymore Sacred Heart Church, Raymore, SK on Tuesday, June 19 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Semans Cemetery.

GILHOOLY - Gordon Clarence. After 77 years spent enjoying nature, camping, golfing, watching sunsets, loving to read, being curious, trying to be the very best friend, grandfather, father and husband he could, Gordon (Gil) Gilhooly drifted off to his eternal home, without pain and with his family by his side on Tuesday May 14, 2002. Gil was born in Semans, SK to David & Elizabeth Gilhooly. He served his country by enlisting in 1943 in the R.C.N.V.R. serving in the D.E.M.S. Branch. Gil spent his working career with the C.N.R.as an Agent/Operator at numerous point throughout Saskatchewan. He retired in 1982 and spent his remaining years in Watrous. Survived by his best friend and loving wife Frances (Frankie) of nearly 56 years; daughter Lee (Darrell) Costea; son Brian (Elly) Gilhooly; granddaughter Missy Costea. He is also survived by his brother Graham Gilhooly of Thunder Bay, Ont.; sister Verna Walden of Orangeville, Ont. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Dr. Ross & Clifford Gilhooly. The Memorial Service will be held in Fotheringham's Funeral Chapel Watrous SK on Saturday May 18th at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Watrous Cemetery will take place at a later date.

GLASS-APOSTAL - Ida Regina (nee Ritter), late of Regina, passed away at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by her first husband Phillip in 1977; second husband George in 1991; parents Fred and Lena Ritter; brother Frank, Ida is survived by two sons, Lawrence (Betty) and Lloyd (June), and grandchildren, Brent (Lisa) and Scott (Carol), all of Regina; one sister Bertha Mohr of Osoyoos, BC. Ida grew up in the Hazelwood district, and married Phillip Glass. They farmed in Semans and later in Earl Grey. Ida retired in Regina and married George Apostal, residing in Regina until her passing. She enjoyed farming over the years, and especially her gardening and yard work. In her later years, she enjoyed the outings with her family. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. GRAHAM - Mary Ann of Summerland died peacefully on April 10, 2008 in her 95th year. She is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter, Karin Graham of Calgary; two grandchildren, Andrew Adair of Calgary and Pamela Adair of Toronto; sister in law Maxine Graham of Saskatoon, SK as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and friends in the Semans area. I was born to pioneer parents on May 6, 1909 at Kinbrae, Saskatchewan, receiving my elementary education at Kinbrae and Clumber country schools. After attending Normal School in Regina, I taught at Coma Park School near Atwater and Good Luck School near Springside. I married Leonard Davies in 1933 and we struggled through the Depression years in the grocery and confectionery business in Tate and Semans, SK. In 1941, Leonard joined the army and was sent overseas for training at Aldershot. I worked in munitions factories in Ontario until the war ended. Leonard was killed in the final drive through Holland and I returned to the teaching profession. It was then I discovered I had active tuberculosis and I spent two years as a patient at Fort San. In 1954 I married Bill Gray, also an ex-patient, and we spent very busy years on the Sanatorium staff and in the community. I have enjoyed many hobbies, travelling, handicrafts, writing, painting, singing, dancing, curling, reading, skating, bridge and socializing with family and friends. After my husband's health broke down, we spent 13 winters in south Texas where his health improved. In 1989, we moved to Luther Heights in Saskatoon where we found warmth and friendship in a new environment. Bill passed away on October 2, 1996. Six years later I moved to Regina and have enjoyed new friends and the many activities at the Queen Victoria Estates and William Albert House in Emerald Park. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and support I have received from all my relatives and friends, especially Mavis deBruin, Merle Nostbakken and their families, and Linda Velmer. Aunt Jennie wrote her own life story and we her family felt there was nothing we could add except that she was admired, loved and will be dearly missed. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Saturday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m. A PRIVATE FAMILY INTERMENT will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Fort Qu'Appelle.

GREENHOUGH - Harold (Sam). Passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2002 at the age of 72 years. Sam was born on February 18th, 1930 in Semans, SK. He was predeceased by his parents Florence and Challoner "Charles" Greenhough, brother Jim and sister Norma. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Donna (Doug) Forsyth and Bev (Phil) Flottorp, 2 grandsons, Derek and wife April and Scott Forsyth, brother Lloyd and wife Margaret, sister Shirley (Jesse) Friesen, brother-in-law John Boyko and wife Jean, sister-in-law Beatrice (Len) Neumeier and numerous nephews and nieces. A Funeral Service will be held in Saskatchewan in May 2002, announcement to be made at a later date.

GREENSHIELDS - Verna Jean (nee Salkeld) Greenshields. Verna passed away August 31, 2010 at Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon, after a lengthy illness with her four children at her side. Verna was born August 3, 1928 to Rae and Effie Salkeld. She grew up on the family farm on the Cutarm Valley near Gerald, Saskatchewan. After completing her high school diploma at Spy Hill, she headed to Saskatoon's Normal School and became a teacher. Verna taught at Rocanville School before moving to Semans to teach school. There she met her future husband, Wes Greenshields. They were married July 9, 1954 and Verna settled into a farming life with Wes on the Greenshields family farm north of Semans. Besides her homemaking job, Verna was active in the community. She taught Sunday school at the Semans United Church, as well as 4-H. Verna loved reading and served on the local library board. Her love of music inspired her involvement with the Last Mountain District Music Festival. History and its preservation was important to Verna, and she was very involved in the compilation of the Semans History book, Always a Hometown, as well as the Semans Museum. Verna is survived by her son Jim (Lorna) of Saskatoon, granddaughter Erin(Ryan) Brimacombe of Saskatoon, great-grandsons Sam and Ike, granddaughter Michelle (Michael) Yakimchuk of Regina, greatgrandsons Adam and Theo; son Grant (Callie) of Semans, grandchildren Charlotte, Tom (Ashley) and Kathryn; daughter Patty (Tom) Burk of Taber, grandchildren Emily, Jon and Ethan; daughter Linda (Kevin) Ness of Saskatoon, granddaughters Caroline (Brenan) Smith and Lauren. Verna is also survived by brother Lloyd Salkeld of Edmonton and sister Lorraine Vinterlik of Punnichy and sister-in-law Dora Salkeld of Grand Forks, BC. GRIFFITHS - Isabelle (nee Runolfson). On Saturday, April 7, 2001, Isabella "Belle" late of Regina and formerly of Semans, Sask passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar; parents, Runolvur and Bertha; brothers, Harold and Albert; and sisters, Bertha and Laufey. Belle is survived by her son, Bob (Sandy); daughter, Corinne (Lorne) Lys; grand daughter, Terra; step grand children, Pattie and Shawn; great grand children, Andrea and Ryan; great great grand son, Ethan; sister, Peggy Runolfson; brother, John (Anna) Runolfson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Belle was actively involved with the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxilary, of which she was a Honorable Lifetime Member. After her retirement from the Bank of Montreal she turned her focus to yard work and gardening that she and Edgar tended diligently. When Belle was not gardening she passed her leisure time travelling and doing many beautiful needlework pictures which she proudly framed and displayed. GUSKJOLEN - Elva (nee Purdy) passed away in Lethbridge on February 17, 2005 at the age of 98 years, Mrs. Elva Guskjolen, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Ole Guskjolen. Elva is survived by her children, Vera Robertson, James (Shirley), William (Joan), and Lillian Edna (Arnold) Swanson; 21 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and her sister Donna Hallock. Besides her loving husband Olde, Elva was predeceased by her parents William and Mary Estella Purdy, and five brothers and sisters. Cremation. GUTHRIE - Dorothy (nee Wright) passed away peacefully in her sleep, February 8, 2013 in Mississauga, ON, in her 97th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, George Guthrie; her parents Albert and Minnie Wright; sister Hazel Wood; and brother, Wesley Wright. Survived by her sister and dear friend, Connie Lundmark of Buchanan, SK, and by her four children, Gary (Sherril) Guthrie of Abbotsford, BC, Randall (Lynda "Chriss") Guthrie of Mississauga, ON, Lynn Wilson of Hamilton, ON and Janet (Ken) Laverty of Mississauga. Dorothy was cherished Grammy to Avery and Jordan Guthrie; Lindsay, Clayton and Robyn Wilson; and Wesley, Braeden and Kalen Laverty. Dorothy was born October 3, 1916 in Semans, SK, a direct descendant of Lt. Abel Wright, who landed in North America no later than 1655. She lived - and made many friends - in Penticton, BC, Vonda, SK, Saskatoon, SK, Moose Jaw, SK, Regina, SK, Thunder Bay, ON, Winnipeg, MB, Pointe Claire, QC, and Mississauga, ON, and travelled with George across Canada, the US, the Caribbean and Europe. Dorothy was proud to have worked as an operator for the Saskatchewan Department of Telephones (now SaskTel) during the Second World War, and was a long-time employee of the Hudson's Bay Company. She had fond memories of her time playing semi-professional baseball in Saskatchewan, in addition to curling, speed skating, and pick-up hockey. She was a devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, skilled player of bridge, and was always up for a game against her grandchildren on her Nintendo and N64 game systems. She will be remembered as being strikingly beautiful, always immaculately dressed, a believer in angels, and full of unexpected talents. The family would like to sincerely thank Miranda and Jenny Marshall for their devoted and compassionate care. A private memorial service will be held for Dorothy at a later date.

HAGAN - Dorothy (nee Menzies) March 28, 1929 - July 22, 2016. In loving memory of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dorothy, who is now with her Lord and Saviour and reunited with her husband, Bruce Hagan (2001), and son, Mark Hagan (2000). She was also predeceased by her parents, Harry and Dora Menzies; and brothers, Wayne Menzies and Calvin Menzies. Dorothy is survived by her son, Craig (Doris) Hagan; grandchildren, Daniel (Candace) Hagan, Angela (Matt) Hoffman (great-grandchild, Samantha), and John Hagan; daughter-in-law, Gayle Hagan; grandchildren, Ory Hagan, and Sheraea (Avery) Rusk; daughter, Nancy (Ted) Hawkins; grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Chow (great-grandchildren, Lily and Luke), and Thomas Hawkins; daughter, Marcy (Peter) Switzer; grandchildren, Andrew (Monica) Switzer (great-grandchildren, Caleb, Amayah, and Eli), Jesse Switzer, and Lisa Switzer; sisters, Lucille Philips, Cecile (Wendel) Mills, Elaine (Allan) Gorrill and Pat (Ray) Worth; sister-in-law, Gladys Menzies; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born and raised on a farm near Semans, SK. She was a teenager when she moved to Regina to attend Balfour Technical School. After high school, she worked for the provincial government until she married the love of her life, Bruce Hagan. Together they owned and operated Hagan's Moving and Storage. They raised their four children in Regina, and spent their summers at the family cottage at Kedleston Beach. Bruce and Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour in the early 1950s while they were dating. They raised their children to love and serve the Lord. Their home was always centered around Jesus and his love. Mom had a very kind and quiet spirit. Anyone who ever entered our home was always welcomed, she was the queen of hospitality. She always put the needs of her family and others first. Besides cooking and baking, Mom also enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening. You are welcome to attend a Celebration of Dorothy's Life at the Regina Apostolic Church, 808 Assiniboine Ave. E., Regina, SK on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Merv Switzer and Pastor Andrew Switzer officiating. Interment will follow the luncheon at 2:00 p.m. at Kedleston Cemetery. We would like to thank Parkside Extendicare for the years of care and attention to Mom's needs. HAMILTON - Elzina Mae (nee Russell). The death of Mrs. Elzina Hamilton, aged 91 years, of Semans, SK. occurred peacefully on December 1, 2011. Elzina was born on March 7, 1920 to John and Eva Russell in the Strasbourg District. She grew up on the family farm and attended the Pengarth School. Elzina married Robert Hamilton on September 23, 1944 in Strasbourg. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, braiding rugs and reading in her spare time. Family was always the most important thing to Elzina and she loved to visit with friends. Elzina passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years on December 1, 2011 at her home in Semans. Elzina was predeceased by: her parents John and Eva Russell; her husband Robert Hamilton; brother Jack Russell and sister-in-law Ina; brother-in-law Corbet Anderson and niece Lana Anderson. She is survived by: her sons Russell (Phoebe) Hamilton of Nanaimo, Grant (Joanne) Hamilton of Semans; and daughters Elva (Don) Turner of Watrous, Sheila Hamilton of Regina; grandchildren Craig (Karla) Hamilton, Tara (Jack) Hawes, Bradley Hamilton, Amanda (Justin) Muirhead, Marcella, Scott (Mia) Turner, Tammy (Rob) Krieger; five great-grandchildren Austin, Brynn, Jared, Brendan and Luke; her sister Doris Anderson; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. A funeral service was held at Semans United Church, Semans Saskatchewan, on Friday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m. Officiant was Rev. Alison West. Register attendants were Edna Peeke and Bertha Paproski. HAMILTON - Robert "Bert" Hamilton passed away at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK on Monday, December 10th, 2001. The Funeral Service will be held at the Semans United Church Semans, SK. on Saturday December 15, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Semans Cemetery. HANNA - Clarence (Casey). The family of Casey Hanna regretfully announce his passing at the Silver Heights Nursing Home in Raymore, SK on Friday, August 18th, 2006. Casey was born in Semans, SK on March 28th, 1911. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Nelda and two sons Greg (Eileen) and Lynn of Alberta, his sister Madge Mager of Winnipeg, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and numerous friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 26th, 2006 at 2:00 P.M in St. Martin's Anglican Church, Raymore, SK with Rev. Don Wells presiding and assisted by Pastor Rey Dahlen. Cremation has taken place. Interment following the lunch.

HARDING - Ron. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Harding age 65 years who passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, July 3, 2008. He was predeceased by his daughter, Laurie in 1999; great grandson, Landon in 2003. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Cathy and their three children, Rhonda (Carl) of Radisson, SK, Trevor (Eyvonne) of Regina, SK, Scott (Tasha) of Regina, SK; twelve grandchildren; one great grandson and numerous nieces, nephews, inlaws and friends. Ron was born in Semans, SK on March 16, 1943. He married, Cathy Davis in 1965. Rons passions in life were spending time with his loving wife and their family. Ron was happiest when he spent time with his grandchildren. He traveled many miles in his eighteen wheeler. Ron spent many afternoons and evenings in front of the television watching all of his favorite sports. Ron was loved by all who knew him and will be missed greatly. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK. with Pastor Bob Leeson officiating. HARRIS - Elwood, age 88, Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at home with his wife of 66 years and family by his side on Saturday, May 18, 2013. He was born in Tate, Saskatchewan May 24, 1924 and married his true love Jacqueline (Jackie) on August 24, 1946 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was long retired from Air Canada where he worked as a production planner in the aircraft maintenance department, but that was only his day job. He also worked as a contractor building houses and owned a general store for ten years. He had the opportunity to relocate to many different cities and towns, from Winnipeg to McCreary to Montreal to Springhill, Florida, then Kelowna and finally to Halifax where he could be closer to family. He had helped many family and friends over the years with house repairs and renovations and was always willing to take time to help out anyone in need. He met friends easily and kept in touch with every one of them over the years. He was a past president of the Rotary Club, was involved in the Lion's Club, was an elder at the McCreary United Church, and did volunteer contractor work to help build schools in Manitoba. He loved shuffle board and built his own shuffle board court in his yard in Florida where he and Jackie hosted many shuffle board and bocce tournaments. He loved to golf, bowl and curl and most of all he was a die-hard football fan and Sundays were dedicated to watching the games. He was always willing to explain the rules and tactics of the game whether you wanted the lesson or not. He loved to laugh and tell stories of his world travels and his time spent in the Navy during WWII. He was always interested in hearing about everyone else's lives and and was especially interested in his great-grandchildren's stories and he enjoyed their visits immensely. He loved animals and always enjoyed visits from rambunctious family dogs. He is survived by his wife Jackie (Ehrie) who will miss him terribly, his daughters Heather (Walter) McCalllum, Tracey (Bob), his sons Greg (Marielle) and Jeff (Anne) and his sister Kay McNeil, eight grandchildren, Rob (Wendy) McCallum, Ryan (Janis) McCallum, Ellen (George) Bryan, Emily (Ethan Hrychuk) Harris, Marlowe Harris, Logan (Stephanie) Harris, Luc (Alexandra Smith) Lessard and Lianne Lessard, seven great-grandchildren, Duncan, Georgia, Ayla, Nora, Dawson, Felix and Flora. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews with whom he was very close. He will be sadly missed by all. He was predeceased by his sisters Elvretta and Marjorie and his brother Maitland. A private ceremony was held Sunday, May 19, 2013, where he was proudly piped in for the next part of his journey. A special thank you goes to health care aide Jennifer Griffiths for her loving care in his last few months which I know he was very grateful. Thank you also to Dr. D. MacNeil, Dr. G. Bailey, palliative care nurse Glenna and VON nurse Dave for their extra attention and support.

HARRISON - Kathleen "Mary" Harrison (nee Lindley). Following a long and happy life, Mary Harrison of Metcalfe, ON (formerly of Semans, SK), passed away on July 29, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Mary was the loving wife of the late Lorne Harrison, mother of Ron (Margaret Hill), Heather (Peter Griffin) and the late Joan. She was the proud grandmother of Ian and Brian Harrison and sister of Betty Montgomery and the late James and Joseph (the late Maureen Sherlock) Lindley. A memorial service was held on August 1, 2008. Interment at Springhill Cemetery, Vernon, ON.

HAWES - Bob (May 2, 1957 - October 19, 2012). Bob was called home to meet his Lord and Saviour with his loving family at his side. Bob brought an incredible warmth and enthusiasm to every aspect of his life, whether he was busy farming, selling products, building companies, or spending his summer vacations with friends and family. Bob leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Donna; sons Michael (fiance Latisha), Steven and Mark; brothers Reg and Stan; sisters-in-law Rhonda, Valerie and Darla; brothers-in-law Lorne, Lloyd and Mark; along with four nieces, two nephews, and his mother-in-law Shirley. A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Semans School Gymnasium.

HEINTZ - Mary. Born Mary Kerbs on October 25,1911, Mary was raised in the Last Mountain district and attended Havelock School. In 1925, Mary was baptized in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. In 1936, Mary married Chris Heintz, and they farmed 14 miles south of Semans. In later life, due to health reasons, they retired and moved to town. Chris passed away in 1997. Mary continued to live in Semans until 2009, when she moved into the Eastview Lodge in Raymore, SK, after 64 years in her hometown and district. Mary celebrated her looth birthday still living on her own. Shortly after, she moved to the Silver Heights Special Care Home in Raymore. Mary passed away peacefully on September 5, 2013, just short of her 1O2nd birthday. Mary will be fondly remembered by: her sisters-in-law Freda Gray and Mary Heintz; numerous nieces/nephews and many wonderful friends. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Silver Heights and Eastview Lodge for the wonderful and loving care Mary received. A memorial service will be held at the Raymore Manor, Raymore, SK on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate Mary's life.

HEINTZ - William (Bill) Heintz was born in Leipzig, Romania on September 24, 1906. He immigrated to Canada in 1927 and married Carrie Kerbs in 1934. Carrie predeceased Bill in 1993. Bill farmed in the Semans area for about 40 years. He passed to his rest on April 16th, 2007 at the Nokomis Health Centre. He leaves to mourn a son, Dennis (Marlene) of Lacombe, AB., a daughter, Donna (Delvern) Loreth of Weyburn; sisters Ada Stewart of Saskatoon and Freda Grey of Raymore; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The funeral service was held at the United Church in Semans on Saturday, April 21st at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Ken Wiebe as officiant. Pallbearers were Shawn Loreth, Brad Penman, Les Weger, Curtis Neiszner, Glen Heintz and Larry Grey. Interment was in the Semans Cemetery where he awaits the call of the Lifegiver. Lunch was served in the church hall following the interment.

HICKS - Margaret Annie (nee Swan). It is with deep sadness the family of Margaret Annie Hicks of Scott-Forget Tower, Saskatoon, formerly of Semans announce her passing on December 27, 2004 at Saskatoon City Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Fred in 1990 and three infant children. She leaves to mourn ten children & spouses. Ethel, Jack, Muriel, Myrna, Jean, Ruth, Ruby, Claude, Edna, Lloyd, special grandson Wayne and special nephew Laird, twenty four grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Also her brother Ted and her sister May. Funeral services will be from Semans United Church on Friday, January 31, 2:00 p.m.

HILLIS - Iva (nee Hodgins) of Semans was called into the arms of God to be with her husband Walter on January 17, 2011 at 83 years of age. Iva was born on a farm North of Semans on May 17, 1927, daughter of the late Russell and Pearl Hodgins. Predeceased by her husband Walter in 2005, Iva will be fondly remembered and forever cherished by all those whose hearts she touched with her caring spirit, generous nature and dedication to life. Left to celebrate her life is her son Robert (Vivian) Hillis, and daughters Marilyne (Paul) Bonnet and Vivian (Rick) Black. Granddaughter Sasha, children Hayley, Carley, Trenton and Karter. Granddaughter Melissa (Jamie) and child Dolce. Grandson Brett (Tara) children Milo and Rowan. Grandson Colin, Granddaughter Jill (Tarla). Grandson Owen (Brenda) children Wesley and Samuel. Granddaughter Charlene (Morgan). Granddaughter Shannon (Scott). Granddaughter Marcella (J.J.) Brothers Doug (Hilda) Hodgins, Elwood (Ada) Hodgins and Bryan (Kym) Hodgins. Sister in laws Alma Hillis and Janice Hillis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. HILLIS - Lawrence James Hillis. It was with overwhelming sadness that we said Good-Bye to our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He passed peacefully at 2:10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Royal University Hospital at the age of 78. He is survived by his loving wife Janice of 52 years; his son William; daughters Dianne (Ray), Sandra (Don), Frances; grandchildren Tammy (Greg), Shanna (Jose), Samatha, Brook, Courtney, Victor and Great Granddaughter Morgan; sister Helena (Banks), sisters-in-law Ivy (Hillis), Elma (Hillis) and many nephews and nieces. Dad's happiest times were being surrounded by family and friends on the farm. Dad also enjoyed golf, pool playing and backyard BBQ's. Lawrence was born in Govan in 1928. He and his family moved to Semans in 1933 where Dad grew up and farmed with his father and upon his father's retirement Dad carried on with the family farm until his retirement in 2003 when Dad and Mom moved to Saskatoon. A Family Memorial Service will be held at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338-4th Avenue North on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. There will not be an interment at this time.

HILLIS - Robert passed away on October 10, 2014. Robert was born June 7, 1953 to Walter and Iva Hillis in Nokomis, SK. Robert had two sisters, Marilyne (Paul) Bonnet and Vivian (Rick) Black, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Iva. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Vivian, three children and eight grandchildren; Sasha Nemeth, Hayley, Carley, Trenton, and Karter; Melissa (Jamie) Lenuik, Dolce; Brett (Tara) Hillis, Milo, Rowan, and Eric. Robert was a strong community man and was involved in many events and organizations, spending many years on the Semans School Board, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Board, Semans Goodtimer Hockey, coaching minor hockey, and he is the Semans Fire Chief. His top loves were his family and the farm. His many other loves included hunting, going to the cabin at Last Mountain Regional Park, going to the home in Yuma, and Semans "coffee row". He was so proud of Brett being the third generation on the farm and the upcoming fourth generation. A Celebration of Robert's Life will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Semans Gym, Semans, SK.

HILLIS - Walter of Semans. Jesus came to take him home on March 20, 2005 in his 79th year. Walter was born at Govan, the son of the late Samuel and Lily (nee McClughan) Hillis. Predeceased by his brothers William, Joseph and Victor and sister Catherine Graham. HODGINS - Dustin Elwood. Dustin was born on December 18, 1977 in Lanigan, SK. and passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 2, 2014. He was predeceased by his grandparents Gladys and Reg Scott; and uncle Rob. Dustin will be forever remembered and missed by his soul mate and best friend Amanda Iles; parents Lin and Kathryn; sister Hollie (Trevor); grandparents Elwood and Ada Hodgins; plus many extended family members and friends. Dustin was an electrician by trade and a true farmer at heart. He loved cows, horses, football, hockey and good times with friends. Dustin will be forever loved and missed deeply. HOFFMAN - Eva Patricia (nee Wallbridge) born September 17, 1925 near Govan, Sask. passed away April 18, 2006 in Port Moody, BC. Predeceased by her husband, Warren, she will be missed by her children Richard, Mary Ann (Jeff), sister Sheila, family and friends. Patricia attended U of Sask. from 1948-1951 teaching at Wessels near Govan '49-'50 then taught in Govan, Rosetown and Semans Sask. until 1957. HOLMES - Marina Helen (nee Carter). The death of Mrs. Marina Helen Holmes aged 67 years of Semans SK occurred at the Regina General Hospital on Wednesday April 24, 2002. HOLMES - Robert Blake Holmes of Lloydminster passed away suddenly on June 29, 2002 at the age of 42 years. HOPKINSON - David Clarence "Connie" (March 11, 1919 ? January 17, 2015). It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Clarence (Connie) Hopkinson of Raymore, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his grandson Cpl. David Braun, son-in-law Blaine Braun, his parents Robert and Mabel of Semans, brother Fred, and sisters Fern, Patricia, and Fay. Connie leaves to mourn his wife of sixty-two years, Olga, daughter Valerie Hopkinson, daughter Patty Braun, granddaughter Daina Braun, and grandsons Christopher and Michael Braun, great-granddaughter Aidin Lysyshin (David's daughter), numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Dad loved his family, was hard working and took pride in anything he did. He loved to dance, and in retirement, golf became a new passion which he shared with his grandsons and many friends. He always had some kind of project on the go. He will always be remembered for his ease at making friends and for his great sense of humour and story-telling. Anyone who knew dad was a lucky person. HORTON - Leona Ordelia (nee Wideman) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Leona Ordelia Horton age 58 years, on Friday, March 2, 2001 at the Pasqua Hospital. She was known to family and friends as a caregiver, and will be greatly missed by all. We had no choice but to let her go, safely and peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. JAMES - Ivan Ross. The death of Ivan Ross James aged 78 years of Semans, Saskatchewan occurred at the Pasqua Hospital on Monday January 22, 2001. JEFFERY - Ruth Beatrice (nee Hukee). It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our cherished wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, Ruth Jeffery. Ruth passed away peacefully on June 15, 2005 with her family at her side. Ruth was born in Semans, SK on August 4, 1926 to Isabella and Hans Ole Hukee. She received her public and high school education in Semans and graduated from the Regina General Hospital Nursing Program in 1947. She came to Eston, SK in 1947 to nurse in the Eston Union Hospital. In those times public skating was very popular and while skating she met William John Jeffery. They were married at St. Andrew's Chapel in Saskatoon on August 27, 1949. Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Bill of 56 years; daughter, Dianne, grandchildren, Covey, Camilla (Todd) and greatgrandchild, Gunnar, Lani (Phil); daughter, Bonnie (Peter) and step-grandchildren, Ayla and Lillith; daughter, Cathy (Bernie) and grandchildren, Andrew and Rosalind; son, Jim (Andrea) and grandchildren, Jessica, William and Vienna; nieces and nephew, Lorraine, Rae-Lynn, Roberta and Ed. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved brother, Raymond and sister-in-law, Hazel and son-in-law, Pat. Ruth had a life-long love for the companionship of her faithful dogs and on her passing she left Sheba in the care of her family. Ruth will be remembered for her commitment to the community of Eston, by the many contributions she made through her professional nursing practice, her support of music festivals and numerous other volunteer roles. She was the Director of Care for the Jubilee Lodge, was active in the Jubilee Lodge Auxiliary and devoted many hours to coordinating the Red Cross blood donor program. Ruth had a great love of music and for over 30 years sang in the St. Andrew's senior choir and devoted many hours as piano teacher and accompanist, church organist and music festival organizer. She was also active in the United Church Women's Auxiliary, the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a creative and gifted seamstress and knitter whose handiwork and needlework still grace the homes of her children. Ruth was an amazing woman who always made birthdays and holidays special and who balanced her family life with her professional career and her extensive community service. She will be missed so much and remembered lovingly by her family and many friends. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Andrew's United Church in Eston, SK.

KARST - Pauline (nee Hilderman) late of Regina, SK passed away on August 3, 2004 at the age of 90 years. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pauline and her husband farmed in the Semans and Quill Lake areas until Ed's sudden passing in 1965. She came to Regina a few years later, living with her brother, Edward, in various locations and finely residing with Fran Fansher who took a very loving, caring interest in her aunt's well-being. At Pauline's request the funeral service will be held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 3720 Hill Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, August 6, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Quill Lake Cemetery. She displayed an inner strength to the very end and a devotion to her church.

KAYTO - Beatrice Margaret "Bea" (nee McBride) passed away on Monday, April 12, 2004 at the age of 81. Born May 6, 1922 at Semans, SK. Bea is predeceased by her parents James and Alma McBride; brothers, Lorne McBride and Leslie McBride; sisters Dorothea Arnold and Jean Scott. She will be lovingly missed by her husband Frank Kayto; brother Cecil McBride of Trenton, ON; sister Marjorie MacDonald of Regina as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. KELLS - Charles Lloyd Kells passed away peacefully, June 19, 2012 at Wetaskiwin Hospital surrounded by his family. Lloyd was born at Semans, SK to Arthur and Ethel Kells. He was predeceased by his wife Carrol, parents, and sister-in-law Kayla. Left to mourn are: son Donald, daughters Cheryl (Les), Karen (Warren), Debbie (Les), Shawna (Daryl), 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandson; sisters Dorothy (Bill) and Grace, brother George, and nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. Funeral was held at Wetaskiwin United Church, June 25.

KELLS - Dorothy Ethel (nee Wickham) Kells was born on April 25, 1913 at Bengough, SK, to Frank and Jessie Wickham. She was the eldest of a large family of eight brothers and two sisters. They grew up at Wishart. Ethel attended a one-room school in Lestock, graduating Grade 8 with honours. After graduating, she worked in several homes before moving to Tate where she worked for the Carlsons. She then began working for her future in-laws, Richard and Margaret Kells. Arthur and Ethel were married March 21, 1939 and lived on the home farm. Ida Waylett, her niece is the only surviving member of the wedding party. Ethel loved farm life - hard work and all. She especially enjoyed her large garden, the farm animals, and poultry, baking, knitting, quilting, playing cards and board games. She loved the visits from her neighbours as they shared a cup of coffee and news of the farm life. Art and Ethel raised four children: Lloyd (Carrol deceased), Dorothy (Bill), George (Kayla) and Grace. She has nine grandchildren: Don Kells, Cheryl (Les) Glimm, Karen (Warren) Kells, Debbie Kells, Shawna (Darryl) McLay, Bill (Cheryl) Holmes, Ann (Jim) Morgan, Ryan Kells, Kathy Kells, and 17 great-grandchildren. Ethel is survived by two brothers - John (Mary) of Abbottsford, BC, and George (Georgia) of Osoyoos, BC, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of treasured friends. Art and Ethel sold their farm in 1977 to nephew Owen and Vera Simpson and moved to Semans where activities at the Senior Centre and choir. United Church, Legion, trips with Peek's Tours, and of course her smaller garden and fruit trees filled her life. Five years ago, she moved to Nokomis and continued to enjoy life, board games and movies, with her dear neighbours Catherine Yauck and Ida Landstrom, activities at the Senior Centre, United Church and music at the nursing home. She lived on her own with assistance from Home Care until August 2010 when she moved to Earl Grey assisted living. Illness sent her to Regina General Hospital in October. On November 14, Ethel moved to the Watrous Hospital Long-Term Care where she passed away peacefully January 14, 2011 in the company of her caring nurses. A funeral to honour and celebrate Ethel's life was held in Semans on January 21 with internment at Semans Cemetery.

KEMPTON - Ivy Esther Eugenie. The death of Ivy Esther Eugenie Kempton aged 91 years of Semans, SK occurred at the Silver Heights Special Care Home in Raymore, SK on Monday May 26th, 2003. A Funeral Service will be held in the Semans School Gymnasium, Semans, SK on Friday May 30th at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Semans Cemetery.

KERBS - Agatha, formerly of Semans, SK. passed away peacefully with her family by her side January 18th, 2008 at Regina Lutheran Home at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband David, her parents, seven siblings, a grandson Gary Redshaw and son-in-law Alvin Redshaw. KINKLEY - Frank, of Semans passed away February 11, 2001 at the age of 86 years. Predeceased by his wife Doris, brother Clifford and one sister Vena Jackson. He leaves to mourn son Bryan (Joyce) and a daughter Shirley (Wayne) Hicks, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters Hazel Lewis and Marjorie Thompson, several nieces, nephews and many friends. KNOBLAUCH - Albert Ferdinand. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Albert Ferdinand Knoblauch on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at theage of 93 years. Albert was predeceased by his parents, wife Adeline, his three brothers and their wives Karl (Barb), Frank (Elsie) and Adam (Margaret, Dorothea). He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Brian (Tracy) and their daughters Kelsey and Shelby and Warren (Brenda) and their sons Mike, Tim and Jeff. Albert was born on February 5, 1920 on the family farm near Semans, SK to Barbara and Jacob Knoblauch. Albert had a difficult start in life being born premature and severely underweight in the middle of a tough prairie winter. He was placed in a bread pan and kept on the warming shelf of the old wood stove to help him gain the strength necessary for his long journey in life. He made up for this slow start by a life of hard physical labour and making it a point to never miss a good meal. His family couldn?t make a go of the farming on the homestead so they moved to Shaunavon, SK where they ran the livery stable and operated a draying service. During the depression of the 1930s Albert was forced to quit school in his early teens and together with his brother Frank they roamed the prairies in search of work to support themselves and the family left at home. His travels lead him from the interior of BC to Manitoba. He finally descended on Edenwold, SK where he met and married the love of his life, Adeline Mang on July 6, 1948. Together they moved to Regina to begin a life of their own. This is where they lived, worked, played, raised their family and eventually passed. Albert and his brother Frank owned Knoblauch Bros. Painting and Contracting where they did everything from painting farm buildings to new home construction. They were jacks of the trades. Albert was a remarkable role model. He had humble beginnings and circumstances cut his childhood short, he did most of his growing up on the road without a lot of direct parental help. Yet he succeeded in life by hard work and determination. With Adeline?s guidance he was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who was loved and cherished by all of them. He will be greatly missed! Albert and Adeline led a quiet, comfortable life and were always ready to share with and help family, friends and relatives. Well done Dad. A large heartfelt thank you to the staff at Santa Maria for the care and compassion shown to Albert. In keeping with Albert's wishes there will be no formal funeral just a simple private interment for immediate family. Please do however make some time for a moment of silence to reflect upon your fondest memories of Albert and then, wish him God's speed on his next journey.

KOCH - Barbara Hazel Helen (nee Brightman) passed away peacefully at home in the early evening of Monday, November 29, 2010 with her daughter by her side at the age of 70 years. KOPP - Leonard Kopp, aged 90 years, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Elmview Extendicare, Regina, Sask. Leonard was born in Kiselewsleay, Volhynia, Russia on August 13, 1920. LARSON - Ruby Ila Larson was born May 30, 1914 and passed away peacefully at Lutheran Good Samaritan Home in Stony Plain, AB, on February 13, 2011, at the age of 96 years. The eldest of five children born on the family farm at Hatfield, she was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Ester Larson and her siblings, Howard, Hazel, Earl and Austin and nephews, Keith Larson and Wayne Larsen. Ruby attended Garland country school and completed her high school training in Govan before attending Regina Normal School. She taught at Aylesbury, Wood Mountain, her own school, Garland, and Shellbrook before enrolling at the University of Saskatchewan in 1940 where she attained her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and her Master of Science degree. After working seasonally as a student hi Swift Current and losing nearly a year recovering from TB at Fort San, she began her own research work at the Swift Current Experimental Farm in 1946. Always adventurous and curious, she received her Ph.D. in cytogenetics from the University of Missouri in 1952, then continued her work in breeding of sawfly resistant wheat and other cereals at the Lethbridge Research Station. Retiring from Agriculture Canada in 1979 she continued her wide ranging interests and was recognized nationally and internationally for her professional work and locally for her humanitarian and community contributions in the fields of scholarship and science. In 2006 she moved to St. Albert, Alberta to reside close to her niece, Lyla Smylie, and later to the Samaritan Home. Not having children of her own, she had also supported four separate international foster children to the university level. Cremation, interment at Semans Cemetery. Aunty Ruby is lovingly remembered by her surviving 18 nieces, nephews and their families in Yukon, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and USA.

LAZAR - Louis Paul, Regina, SK., Born August 5, 1926, Lestock, SK, Lou sadly passed away at the Pasqua Hospital on Saturday, May 23, 2009. Lou is survived by his wife, Elma (nee Lendvoy) of 53 years; children, Ray (Dianne), Raymore SK, Rick, Yorkton, SK, Tim (Tracey), Dunmore AB, Cindy (Greg) Butterfield, Kronau SK, and special nephew, Fred (Bev) Fisher, Saskatoon SK; grandchildren, Tammy (Greg) Taylor, Shanna Ochoa, Derek, Kelsey, Dallas Lazar, Parker and Daneca Butterfield, Landon and Breann Tarnasky; great grandchildren, Morgan and Brody; one sister, 3 brothers, and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Ted; grandson, Austin; parents; 8 sisters and 3 brothers. Lou was one of the first two people to graduate from Lestock High School. He taught school in several locations completing his career as Principal of Margaret McClumb High School in Semans SK. Lou used his free time to coach, referee, umpire, drive bus, fish, hunt, carpentry, electrical work, and he was always lending a helping hand or tool. Lou and Elma enjoyed family and friends at their cabin at Last Mountain Regional Park for the last 34 years. At Lou's request there will be no formal funeral service. LEMON - Charles. On Friday, September 26, 2014, Charles passed away. He was predeceased by his mother Louise, father Amos and sister Violet. LEWIS - Elizabeth "Lizzie" Lewis of Earl Grey, formerly of Semans, SK. passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008 after celebrating her 99th birthday. Lizzie was born November 21, 1909 near Lestock, SK. Predeceased by her parents, husband Frederick Lewis, three brothers and five sisters. Left to mourn her passing, her daughter Edna (Des) Peeke of Semans, Linda Danielsen of Dease Lake, BC, grandchildren Brenda (Jim) Grant, Tracy Sutton (Richard), Robert (Tara) Sutton, and Trevor (Caroline) Danielsen. Seven great-grandchildren, brother John Reti, Sisters Rose, Edna and Sister Pauline Reti, and numerous nieces and nephews, her loving caregivers Jim and Lorna Greenway and staff of Earl Grey, SK. Elizabeth walked 2 1/2 miles to Bimbo School south of Lestock. As she was the second eldest of 13 she often had to stay home and tend to the younger children. At the age of 16 Lizzie left home to work in Regina, then worked for Mr. & Mrs. George Williams and the Phipps brothers of Semans. On Labour Day 1927 she came to work for Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lewis. There she met Fred Lewis and they were married and had two daughters Edna May and Linda Louise. Lizzie was always busy with chickens, gardening and milking cows but always had a meal ready for whoever happened to be at the farm at meal time. She was a member of the Semans Co-op Guild and the Anglican Church Women. Fred passed away in 1972 and Lizzie stayed on the farm until 1975 when she moved into Semans. She was active in the Senior Citizens and a yearly participant in the Terry Fox Run. She spent her time gardening, hiking, craft work and taking bus tours. She was well known for her plastic work, especially her mats. She was able to show the young people how to walk on stilts. The last year she walked was 1989 and then the stilts were put away for safe keeping. In 2003 she moved to Greenway's Country Care Home at Earl Grey which became her happy home in the country. Interment in Semans Cemetery was on Friday, November 28, 2008 with Reverend Robin Sherman officiating. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends and she was loved by all who knew her.

LEWIS - Laura Maud of Semans passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 9, 2006 at the age of 86. Predeceased by her husband Bob and two sisters Elva and Isabel. MacDONALD - Evelyn Pearl (nee Amor) Okell MacDonald, late of Regina passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at the age of 97. Evelyn was born to Frank and Leona Amor and raised on their farm in the Semans area. It was there she met and married Syd Okell and together they farmed in the Semans, Raymore area until Syd passed away in 1972. She later married Wm. 'Bill' MacDonald. They resided in Peachland, B.C. until Bill passed away in 1987. Evelyn then returned to Regina to be close to her only daughter and grandchildren. She is predeceased by Syd Okell and Bill MacDonald. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Leona (Claude) Finch of Regina; grandchildren, Wendy (Ray) Demyen, Dean (Cyndi) Finch, Joanne (Andrew) Klein all of Regina and nine great grandchildren all of Regina; brothers, Art Amor of Kelowna and Cyril (Doris) Amor of Regina; sisters, Margaret Haynee, Alice (Gordon) Berner and Trudy Pizak all of Kamloops; sister-in-law, Viola Feldman of Foam Lake, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A private Family service will be held.

MACKAY, Ron ~ Ronald Ian Innes Mackay, beloved husband of Evelyn Lydia Mackay of Saskatoon/La Ronge passed away suddenly on March 31, 2020 at the age of 85. Born in Semans, Saskatchewan on September 16, 1934, Ron grew up in the farming town playing hockey and baseball. He was a dedicated Army Cadet, proud recipient of the King's Medal in marksmanship, and worked summers on the farm of family friends, who influenced him in a big way with their hard work and resilience. After high school, he attended the last training school for conservation officers run by the provincial Department of Natural Resources (D.N.R.). He married school teacher Evelyn Oblander in August 1958, and got his first D.N.R. posting to Wadena that same year. Their first child Mikki was born there in 1959. His first transfer saw the family move north to Cumberland House in 1960, where second and third children Scott and Rae-Lynn were born in 1961 and 1963. He was stationed there for five years, getting to know the residents and their way of life, and beginning to develop a network of friends and acquaintances that still exists today.
Three more transfers/promotions followed over the next decade: to La Ronge in 1965, where fourth child Lisa was born in 1967; to Buffalo Narrows in 1967, with fifth child Grant born in 1968; and finally to Prince Albert in 1970, where he was positioned as Area Administrator, Northern District for the D.N.R.. There he began to contemplate a career change. He loved being a conservation officer in the field, but not a desk job supervising the others.
In 1971, Ron and Ev purchased Red's Camps, a tourist outfitting business based out of La Ronge, and headed north again in the spring of 1972 as private entrepreneurs. For the next twenty years the family hosted fishing customers every summer at their four camps, and mining and business customers all year long in the motel they renovated and expanded in La Ronge. They enjoyed meeting people from around the world and all walks of life, including country music stars, sports legends and international filmmakers. They added hundreds of new friendships to the many they already held dear across the north and around the world.
Ron felt a strong commitment to the community he chose to raise his family in. He was a volunteer firefighter with the La Ronge Fire Department. He was an active and engaged member of the Chamber of Commerce, Kinsmen Club, and Royal Canadian Legion, supporting the introduction of Air Cadets to the community. He worked on the Building Committee for the Mel Hegland Uniplex. He coached minor hockey, and played old timers hockey with the La Ronge Rusty Hookers. He curled.
Ron also had strong political beliefs, and a conviction that the north could flourish under the right political leadership, with strong northern representation sitting on the government side of the Provincial Legislature instead of the opposition. He felt it was the only way the north would achieve real partnership in the province. And, to that end, he logged hours and northern miles on executive and fund raising committees for both federal and provincial Conservative parties, and later the Saskatchewan Party, in every election campaign in the north for almost forty-five years.
In the early 90's, Ron and Ev semi-retired to their island dream home on Lac La Ronge, log-constructed from their own design, and began to sell the fishing camps. They enjoyed years of summer living and socializing on the lake, and winter travel connecting them with family and friends. They made a lot of checkmarks on their bucket lists.
In the fall of 2018, having decided they wanted to be more central to family and closer to medical services, Ron and Ev moved to Saskatoon and began another new chapter in their lives. The only constant was that they continued to make many more friends, and reconnect with old ones. He loved the north, the lake and his island home.
He loved his
community and his friends, politics and people. He loved bagpipes and Amazing Grace.
He loved to see the sun set on a prairie wheat field.
He loved a bonfire on the beach.
He loved the call of a loon in the quiet of dawn.
He loved his family most of all.

MacMURCHY - Gordon Samuel of Semans passed away on April 20, 2005 at Nokomis Health Centre at the age of 79. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Jean, infant son Donald, parents Laura and Edward, sister Helen Beynon. He is survived by his children Gordon Jr. (Carol) of Semans, Mark (Caroline) of Regina, Joyce of Regina; grandchildren Todd(Kari) on Minot, ND and Tyler of Regina; sister Margaret (Arne Stensrud) of Regina; special friend Edna McPherson of Regina and many relatives and friends. Gordon was born in Semans and educated in Alexandra School and Semans High School completing grade 12. In 1949, Gordon and Jean were married and settled on the family farm three miles south of Semans. Gordon Jr., Mark and Joyce were raised on the farm until the family moved to town in 1965. Gordie Mac, as he was known, became a dominant figure in provincial hockey and baseball. His tenure as player/coach with the Semans Wheat Kings attained 5 provincial intermediate C championships and 6 Last Mountain Hockey League championships. His decisiveness and fairness made him a respected umpire throughout the province. He brought these qualities along with a sense of team and community to a career in public service. His 40 Years of service began in 1962 when he was elected to the Govan School Unit. He was elected to the provincial legislature in 1971 and appointed to cabinet. He served as a Minister of Education, Municipal Affairs, and Agriculture and Transportation from 1971-1982. His mayorship of Semans spanned 15 years from 1982-1997. Gordon founded the Family Farm Foundation in 1982, and served as board chair of the Living Sky Health Distract from 1982-2002. Gordon held numerous positions with Seniors Education and was a leader in the Semans United Church, most recently initiating the Good Shepherd Sunday celebration each October. He was inducted into the Sask Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989 and received their Special Merit award in 2004; presented with a lifetime membership from the Sask Urban Municipalities Association in 1997; invested with the Sask Order of Merit in 1999; and received the Centennial Medal just hours before his passing. He will be remembered as a man who had the courage and desire to make a better life for everyone in his community and province. His legacy as a humanitarian will live on in all of us. A celebration of Gordon's life will be held on Tuesday, April 26 at 2 p.m. at Semans United Church with Rev. Ned Garstad officiating.

MacMURCHY - Jean Elizabeth (nee Neft). After a full life of family and friends, Jean Elizabeth of Semans at the Last Mountain Pioneer Home on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at the age of 80 years. Predeceased by a son Donald; parents Garnet and Sarah Neft; brother Jack; she will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Gordon; children Gordon Jr. (Carol) of Semans; Mark (Caroline) of Regina; Joyce of Regina; grandsons Todd of Minot N.D.; Tyler of Regina; and many relatives and friends. Jean grew up and took all her schooling in Grenfell. After graduation, she moved to Semans to work at the Bank of Montreal. There she met and married her husband and companion of 52 years. They raised their children on the family farm and later in town. She gave her time freely in support of her family's interests, including the church, figure skating, hockey, baseball and politics. Jean enjoyed spending time with family, swimming at the lake, gardening, reading and doing her crosswords. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 6, 2002 at 2pm., Semans United Church.

MARKEL - Karoline Markel (nee Decker) passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007 into the arms of her Saviour, Jesus Christ, at the age 91 years. She is survived by her son Norman (Judy), daughters Irene (Henry) Schultz, Irma and Shiralee Markel, twelve grandchildren, and twenty greatgrandchildren, also in-laws Millie Decker, Elizabeth Markel, Wilma Markel, Margaret Markel, Beatrice Markel, Emma Markel, and numerous nieces and nephews. Karoline was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba Jan. 19, 1916, and was raised on a farm at Semans, SK. She married Andrew Markel in 1934 at Markinch, SK. and they farmed in the Last Mountain District and Duval, SK. before moving to Regina in 1953. Karoline was employed at the General Hospital for four years and the YMCA for thirty-two years before retiring in 1991. She was a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher at Redeemer Lutheran Church. After transferring to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, she was co-ordinator of worship service readers. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and caregivers at Pioneer Village for the excellent care and compassion shown to our mother. A special thank you to Dr. Bouwer for her devoted attention to our mother's health. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2007 from 7:00 8:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 935 McCarthy Boulevard, with Pastor D. Solie officiating. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens.

MARSHALL - Florence Laurena (1916 - 2013). Laurena passed away on Wednesday, July 10. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, children Marlene, James and Joyce, and grandsons David, Joshua and Conrad. She is survived by Wayne (Sylvia), Vivian (Lloyd), Robert (Maureen), Greg (Edie), Valerie (Allan), Bruce (Ruth), 23 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Semans United Church, Monday, July 15 at 2 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff at Silver Heights and Dr. Lim for their care.

MARSHALL - Irvine Lloyd (November 29, 1925 ? November 28, 2015). Irvine passed away peacefully with his family by his side, after a valiant battle with cancer. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 69 years Marjorie; children Lucille (Gerard) Hornung, Laura (Doug) Black, Lois Marshall, David (Henrietta) Marshall; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Irvine's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3 at the Semans United Church.

MARSHALL - Jim (February 12, 1944 - October 9, 2010). On October 9, 2010, Jim Marshall passed away peacefully. He will forever be loved and cherished by his loving wife, Fareda; his children: Jeff (Aletha); Carter (Chantel) and their children, Estora and Parker; and Paula (Dave); his six brothers and sisters, and his mother, Laurena. A Graveside Service will be held at United Church Manse in Semans, Sask. with tea and lunch to follow on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 2:00 pm.

MARTIN - Martha. The death of Mrs. Martha Martin aged 83 years of Nokomis and formerly of Semans SK occurred at the Nokomis Health Center on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000. The Funeral Service will be held in Semans United Church on Wednesday, Nov. 1st at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Semans Cemetery. Martha was predeceased by her husband David, sons, Clifford and Raymond, 4 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by 2 sons, Gerald (Julie) Martin, Alderside, AB; Allan (Joan) Martin, Semans, SK; 6 grandchildren, daughter in-law, Sharon Martin; brother Godfrey; sisters, Lena and Rosie.

MASSEY - Allan (June 7, 1930 - March 1, 2015). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allan. Allan Massey was a farmer in the Booth Siding area and also did plumbing and heating work in Semans and surrounding towns. He enjoyed many years of being involved as Manager with the Semans Wheat Kings. He was also a member of the Semans Royal Canadian Legion. Allan took pride in his wood work and enjoyed being with friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Allan is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Nola. He is predeceased by his parents Helen and Peter Massey and his son-in-law Gordon Lehne. Allan leaves to mourn: his stepchildren, Debbie Lehne of Regina and Leigh (Glenda) Macfarlane also of Regina; two grandsons Shawn (Mary) Lehne and Ryan (Laura) Lehne; and four granddaughters, Alea, Miya, Julia and Brenna, all of Regina. Interment will be at the Semans Cemetery at a later date.

MASSIER - Terry Dennis. On Friday, December 10, 2010, Terry went to be with his Lord and Saviour at the age of 57 years following injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Terry was an awesome husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents Rudolph and Laufey Massier, father-in-law John Rieger, sister-in-law Debbie Rieger and brother Albert Massier. He is survived by his loving wife, Caroline and sons Brad (Shandra), Ryan and Garret (Regan), as well as his cherished granddaughters Jovie, Zooey, Avie and Perla, his brothers Roger (Alma) and Wayne (Sylvia) and sister Diane (Ben Mowat), in-laws John J. Rieger, Mandy (Art Huzina), Jerry Rieger (Susan) and Dave Rieger, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Terry was born in Nokomis, SK and his family moved to Regina where Terry attended Herchmer School and Scott Collegiate. He married his high school sweetheart in September of 1974. He began his career at Sears after graduation and retired 2009 after 36 years of service mostly in Parts and Service. After two days in retirement, he started a new career at Brandt Industries where he worked for a few months until work shortages lead to his layoff. Within a few days, he had accepted another position at Sears, this time in HIPS as a Field Inspector. Terry's pride and joy were his children and granddaughters. He enjoyed many tea parties and being the patient for doctors in training. Other than size, you could not differentiate him from the other kids playing on the floor. Terry took great pleasure in cheering on Brad in music and Ryan in sports. He also loved 56 Fords and spent many hours with his son, Garret, restoring his latest project. Terry was always willing to share his talents (not limited to automobiles and home repairs) with family, friends and even complete strangers. He always had a smile on his face and quickly befriended everyone he met. He was an encourager to all whether at Church (where he served as an Elder at Calvary Baptist), the office (Sears) or the home. He will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Terry's Life will be held at Faith Baptist Church, 437 Broadway Avenue East, Regina, SK on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.

MCBRIDE - Evlyn (April 4, 1941 - March, 23, 2012). Evlyn died suddenly at home on March 23, 2012 after a brief illness, and went to meet her Saviour and be reunited with family and friends who preceded her. Evlyn was born in Semans, Saskatchewan to Lorne and Ethel McBride. The family moved to Regina in 1945 where Evlyn attended elementary and high school. Following high school, she attended Canadian Bible College for a year and then began her career as a medical stenographer. She was employed by Group Medical Services, and later by a group of urological surgeons. When her parents moved to Kelowna in 1978 Evlyn accompanied them and worked for a medical clinic in Rutland until moving in with her parents to provide the care they needed. Evlyn was an active participant in the Mission Creek Alliance Church and enjoyed serving others in practical ways such as preparing lunches for special events. She was also known for her musical ability and often played the organ or vibraharp in church or at funerals. Evlyn loved cats and in her later years found them great companions, especially ?Mitzi?, and then "Big Boy". Handcrafts and visiting on the phone occupied much of her time. Evlyn was predeceased by her father, Lorne, and her mother, Ethel. She is survived by her brother, Bert (Lorna), and their children, Eldon, Leeanne Thiessen (Brent), Richard (Jerilynne), and Cameron (Candy). A group of close friends in Kelowna mourn her loss greatly. A time of visitation and viewing will be held on Thursday, March 29th at 6:00 p.m. at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 30th at 4:00 p.m. also at Springfield Funeral Home.

McCLUGHAN - Edward William. July 24, 1929 - May 1, 2007. Born in Semans to William and Nora (nee Thompson). Ed grew up on the family farm at Semans, later farming and working in the construction trade. In 1958, Ed moved to Cupar to help build new schools in the Cupar School Division and continued to farm at Semans. In 1973, land in the Cupar area was purchased and Semans land sold. By now, Ed was married and had five sons. He enjoyed farming and life in a rural community. He built two new houses for his family over the years. Ed's greatest pride was his Versatile Tractor, so many changes occurred over the years he farmed. In December 2002, a move to Regina was made as Ed was in Renal Failure and on dialysis three times a week. We took Ed from the farm but never the farm from Ed. Only hours before his death he was asking the staff if he could get out of bed and start seeding. Ed enjoyed farming, fishing, his horses when younger and the many dogs he had. He also enjoyed summers at the cabin, golfing and winter holidays. Spending get togethers with family was a great joy. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Walter. Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife Marilyne, of 47 years; sons Randy of Alameda, Don (Janet) of Lacombe, AB, Brent of Regina, Harley (Becky) of Southey and Rory (Shelly) of Calgary; grandchildren Deanna (Kelly), Luke, Lyndsey, Landace, Amber, Whitney and Carson; mother-in-law Betty Beug; sisters-in-law Sharon Church and Helen McClughan; brother-in-law Elwood (Roberta) Beug and special aunt Barbara Dinwoodie. Even throughout Ed's illness he never lost his sense of humour. The family would like to thank the staff of the Renal Unit and all other wards at the Regina General Hospital who cared and understood Ed. At Ed's request, no funeral services will be held. Cremation with interment to follow at a later date. Ed often said his last move would be just east of town.

McCLUGHAN - Shirley Marilyne (nee Beug). Born in Semans to Betty and Harry Beug. Marilyne grew up on the family farm near Semans. Upon graduation she taught school in Punnichy for a short period, then attended nursing school at the Grey Nun's Hospital in Regina. Marilyne married Edward McClughan in December 1959, and soon after started a family. Marilyne spent her career nursing in Cupar at both the hospital and later at the nursing home. She also helped to run the family farm near Cupar where they raised 5 boys. The biggest joy for Marilyne was having her family together - especially if she could have everyone at one time. She enjoyed all the aspects of small town living including curling, card games, and chasing after kids at the rink! The family also had a summer cottage at Last Mountain Regional Park (close to where Ed and Marilyne grew up). Many good times were enjoyed at the cottage with their family and close friends from that area. Marilyne was predeceased by her parents, her husband Ed, and her sister-in- law Roberta Beug. Left to mourn her loss are her sons; Randy of Alameda, Don (Janet) of Lacombe, Brent (Glenda) of Regina, Harley (Becky) of Warman, and Rory (Shelly) of Calgary; grandchildren Deanna (Kelly), Luke (Amanda), Lyndsey (Riley), Landace (Jonathan), Amber, Whitney, and Carson; her great-grandchildren; brother Woodie Beug; sister Sharon Church; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff of the Lacombe Care Centre who cared for her in a small town setting just the way she liked. At Marilyne's request, no funeral services will be held. MCDONALD - Letitia Annie (nee Greenshields). The family of Lettie McDonald regret to announce her passing at the Carrot River Health Centre on July, 14th 2006 in her 95th year. Lettie was born in a sod house on her parent's homestead near Raymore on October 22, 1911. She was the third of five children. Lettie grew up and attended elementary school in the Kamanatha district near Semans. Following high school in Semans she enrolled in the Saskatoon City Hospital of School of Nursing, graduating in 1936. Lettie nursed in Provost and Hanna, AB and did private duty nursing in Saskatoon. While visiting her sister Jean Jensen in Arborfield she met her future husband Ron McDonald. They were married in June, 1948 and farmed for many years in the Huntdale district retiring from farming in 1975. After Ron's death in 1990 Lettie moved to Saskatoon for 8 years, returning to Carrot River in 1999. Lettie resided in the North Star Lodge until ill health forced a move to the Health Centre in 2002. Lettie was predeceased by her parents, John and Charlotte Greenshields; her husband, Ron McDonald; two sisters, Mary (Bob) Arn and Jean (Albert) Jensen; and her brother, Hugh (Esther) Greenshields. Lettie leaves to mourn: her sister, Esther (Vic) Jameson; nephews and nieces, John (Penny) Jensen, Diane Jensen, JD (Elaine) Greenshields, Garry (Gwen) Greenshields, Vivian (Barry) Halbert, Robert (Jeanne) Arn, Jack (Deann) Arn, David (Judy) Arn, Larry (Marg) Jameson and Perry (Linda) Jameson; 19 grand nieces and nephews; and nine great-grand nieces and nephews. She also leaves to mourn special friends, Garry and Donna Meyer and their family, Muriel Pennycook, and the Garth Lefebvre family. Lettie will be fondly remembered as a beloved aunt and a good friend and neighbour. A memorial service was held at Carrot River United Church on Monday July 17, 2006. MIDDLEMISS - James Ian (September 4, 1961 - February 4, 2017). With sadness, it is announced that Jim Middlemiss of Regina passed away February 4, 2017 in Phoenix (Maricopa) Arizona at the age of 55. Born in Nokomis, he was raised and educated in Semans. Jim trucked and contracted out of Regina and for the last few years escaped south for the winter. Predeceased by father Jim (1966) and mother Vivian (2006), Jim is survived by sons Neil Middlemiss and Michael Middlemiss of Regina, brother Bryan Middlemiss (Delores) of Kelowna, sister Jackie McDonald (Rodger), their families, close relatives, and a number of supportive and long term friends.At Jim's request, there will be no funeral service, but a celebration of his life is planned for a later date.He will be missed.

MOAR - Allister Edgar & Rosemary (nee Pennington). "Life behind and Heaven before, And each a friend; Whether we share a last farewell, When the Sun has set, Whether we silent go our way--Oh, dinna forget! (Edwin Grover, 1913) Allister Edgar Moar (82) and Rosemary Moar (74) of Canwood passed away as the result of a highway accident, Friday May 18, 2001. Predeceased by an infant daughter Melanie and their oldest son, John; Al & Rose will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by their 6 surviving children: Elizabeth (Sandy) Scott of Prince Albert; Grant (Lynn) of Airdrie Alberta; Penny (Marvin) Kunitz of Regina; Lorie (Harvey Tuchscherer) Ludke of Swift Current; Wanda (Eric) Bell of La Ronge; and Ken (Sherry) of Canwood. They are also survived by son John's widow, Wilma, of Calgary. MOREY - Clifford Charles. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clifford Charles Morey at Saskatoon City Hospital on Friday, April 20, 2007, at the age of 88 years. He is survived by Emma, his loving wife of 64 years; children Dennis (Nina) Morey, Saskatoon, SK, Terry (Joyce) Morey, Cochrane, AB, Patricia (Walter) Moskal, Lloydmin-ster, AB, Robert (Diane) Morey, Saskatoon, SK, Sandra (Gerald) Ferguson, North Battleford, SK; grandchildren Lee (fiancee Dena Koloff) Morey, Erin (James) Kinch, Katherine (Kevin) Istace, Lisa (John) Hinton, Candace (Wesley) Myers, Kristopher (Tricia Walchuk) Moskal, Scan Morey, Stacey Ferguson, Ryan (Jessica) Morey, Curtis Ferguson, Janet Ferguson and Shane Morey; great-grandchildren Laeken and Aspen Kinch, Olivia and Isabella Myers, Avalyn Moskal and Makayla Walchuk; sister Winnifred (Fred) Hilderman, Winnipeg, MB; in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. Cliff grew up on the family farm at Tate, Saskatchewan and farmed for many years. He and his family moved to Saskatoon in 1966 where he worked for the T. Eaton Company and the Army & Navy Department Store until his retirement in 1987. Cliff had a wonderful smile and a great sense of humour. He enjoyed playing the accordion, dancing at Manitou Beach, telling stories and playing cards with family and friends. His love for farming and his family was evident to all who knew him. Vigil for Clifford was held Tuesday, April 24,2007 at 7:30 p.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Both services were held at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 114 Kingsmere Place with Reverend Fr. Ken Beck Celebrant. Rite of Committal took place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

MORGAN - David "Dave" Willard Morgan passed away peacefully at the Nokomis Health Centre on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the age of 102. He was born October 21, 1910 at Oxbow, SK. to David Morgan Sr. and Celia Morgan (nee Southam). Dave grew up on the family ranch in the Oxbow area, and later moved to Regina where he attended and completed his high school education. During his school years in Regina, he lived at a boarding house operated by his mother Celia. Dave joined the Canadian Army in 1939, but was never called for overseas duty. He spent the war years serving in a military band, and left the Army in 1946. The saxophone and his talent for playing it remained with Dave for the rest of his life. Trained as a refrigeration technician, Dave owned and operated his own refrigeration service business in Regina and area until he retired in the late 1960's. His first wife Evelyn passed away during this time. In 1978, Dave married Dora Lochrey and became stepfather to Dora's eleven grown children. Dave and Dora lived in several small communities around Saskatchewan. Dora passed away in 1999 and is buried in the Semans Cemetery. Dave spent his last several years in nursing homes, and the last two years at the Nokomis Health Centre, where he enjoyed socializing with the staff and other residents. He especially enjoyed the attention and recognition he received upon reaching his milestone birthdays of 100, 101 and 102. Locally, Dave Morgan is survived by his step-daughters June (Alex) Munroe, (formerly of Nokomis, now living in Kelowna); and Katherine Tomyn, of Macdowall, SK; as well as several other step-children. June and Katherine express sincere thanks to the staff at Nokomis Health Centre for the excellent care that Dave received in his final years. Funeral service for Dave Morgan was held Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in Semans, Pastor Rick Short officiating. Dave will be interred in the family plot at the Semans Cemetery.

MOSER - Annetta (nee Newman) Moser died on August 13, 2006. She was born at Semans in 1928. Annetta was predeceased by her husband Sam in 1995. She is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren and brother Misha (Gutie).

MUNRO - Iona (nee Murray) McConnell Munro (February 11, 1912 -May 28, 2012) was predeceased by parents, Daisy and Archibald Murray; first husband, Ivan McConnell; second husband, Arthur Munro; sister and brother-in-law Orma and Walter Murray; brother Lloyd Murray. She is survived by nieces and nephews; Clarice and Fred Rodgers, Cupar, SK; James and Sheron Murray, Salmon Arm, BC; Shirley and Murray Peddle, Craik, SK; Brian Murray, Cupar, SK; Alvin and Angie Murray, Regina, SK; and their families. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and in-laws on the McConnell side of the family, and cousins on the Murray side of the family as well as many friends. Iona worked hard on the family farm in Semans as a young girl and stayed home and helped on the farm when her brother, Lloyd, joined the forces as her father was not well and could not do a lot of the hard work needed on the farm. After Lloyd returned to the farm, Iona started as a temporary telephone operator with SaskTel at Watrous in 1946. After a year on temporary staff, she was taken on full time. She worked at Battleford, Kindersley, Lanigan and Canora. Iona married Ivan McConnell in 1949. In 1969, Iona and Ivan moved to Yorkton where she became chief operator and continued to work there until she retired in 1982. She was very active in curling and was inducted into the SaskTel curling hall of fame. She was a great golfer and was a member of the York Lake Golf Club in Yorkton. Iona won many prizes in the many golf tournaments she entered. She was involved for many years in Healthy Horizons and Legion Auxiliary in Yorkton. Her greatest pride were "her girls" that were her operators in the Yorkton telephone office. In 1998, she met Arthur Munro from Lucky Lake at a legion convention. They were married in 1999. She moved from Yorkton to Lucky Lake and resided on the farm until Alzheimers clamed her mind and she had to enter the Lucky Lake Primary Care Home where she resided until her passing. Iona will be missed by her nieces, nephews and all her friends. Iona was a person that if you needed anything and she could help out, she was there. Our memories are the things that will remain with us throughout our lifetime. We believe there is a place in Heaven for Angels and we are sure Iona has earned her wings and is now watching over us, her pain and suffering on earth is over.

MURNEY - Calvin Clair (April 25, 1936 ? April 12, 2016). Calvin was born at Carragana, SK, and spent his youth and most of his life at Semans. Kelly leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Mary; son John of Regina; daughter Jennifer (Lloyd) of Cupar; brother Gilbert (Katherine); sister Margretta; sisters-in-law Muriel Murney of Raymore, and Christine Fruk of Regina. He was predeceased by his parents Finlay and Edith Murney; sister Elizabeth; and brother John. At Kelly's request there will be no funeral service.

MURNEY - Finlay John. On Saturday August 24th, 2013 Finlay John Murney of Raymore, SK (formerly of Semans, SK) passed away peacefully at the age of 79 years with family by his side. Dad was a hockey enthusiast and was inducted into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of the 1955-64 Semans Wheat Kings. Grandma was an avid fan until someone had Dad down on the ice and Grandma headed to the boards to give him the 'what for' with her purse. The purse opened up and the contents spilled out onto the ice. Grandma said she never attended another game. Dad worked in Lynn Lake, Manitoba at Sheritt Gordon Mines where he enjoyed the amenities of the north. He loved boating, ice fishing, fishing, swimming, was a fan of 50's music and was the Jive King with his children. Dad enjoyed coaching hockey and leading cub scouts in Semans. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, square dancing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Dad quit farming and worked a variety of jobs which he enjoyed. He and mom retired to Regina and then Dad moved into Silver Heights Nursing Home in Raymore and mom moved into the lodge. John is lovingly survived by his second wife Muriel, his children Corinne, Karlene, Kelly John (Marlene), Jocelyn (Bill) and stepdaughter Linda (Les). Grandchildren Terri (Rob), Susan (Jeff), Dakota, Jarret (Gail), Alicia (Shawn) and Curtis. Great grandchildren Kirsten, Ellie, Adelyn, Dallyn, Braden, Eric and Chase. Brother Gilbert (Kathy), Calvin (Mary) and sister Margretta. John was predeceased by his first wife Orma, his father and mother Fin and Edith, stepson Larry, grandson David and sister Beth. At John's request no service will be held. Remains will be placed at Semans Cemetery.

MURRAY - J. C. Lloyd. Born in Semans, SK on December 30, 1917, Lloyd left us on May 14, 2005 to join those who had predeceased him: his father, Archie; his mother, Daisy; his sister and brother-in-law, Orma and Walt Murray. Lloyd and Glen owned adjacent farms north of Semans and spent many years farming together. Lloyd served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a mechanic servicing airplanes during WWII then returned to Semans to do what he enjoyed mostfarming. Lloyd moved to the Cupar & District Nursing Home in August 1999 and resided there until his passing. Lloyd was very active in the Legion, Semans United Church, Senior's Centre and the NDP. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man, always ready to lend a helping hand. OBLANDER - Donna Rose (nee Brandt). Surrounded by family, Donna passed away peacefully at the Nokomis Health Centre on April 6, 2012. Born Donna Rose Brandt on June 13, 1944, she was raised in the Tisdale and Star City area, until she moved with her parents to Innisfail, AB. She married Ernest Oblander on November 16, 1963, and came to reside on the farm in the Semans area. The farm was their home until they moved to town in 2011. Even with her full and active life, she listed her children as her proudest accomplishment and her grandchildren as her greatest joy. Any job or project that Donna undertook, she undertook with tenacity, passion and high standards. Of her activities, her first love was music. She spent over 35 years playing organ for churches, and was honoured to play at funerals and weddings for friends and family. She was an active, involved community person. She shared her creativity, community pride, love of music, baking, and computer applications with her friends, family and community. Even after her cancer diagnosis and treatment, Donna found ways to actively contribute to the lives of others and further her own passions. She worked at her small business creating trophies, awards and engraving with her usual high standards, and became a mentor with the Multiple Myeloma Peer Support program. She is predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Matilda (Francouer) Brandt, and brothers, Wayne and Sheldon, brother-in-laws Robert Stewart, Ed Oblander, John Hoday, Earl Parmenter and sister-in-law Janet Brandt. OEHLER - Robert. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother, uncle and special friend Robert Oehler on January 22, 2008 at the age of 62. Bob was born in Strasbourg August 22, 1945 and lived there on the farm with his family until they moved to the Semans area. He was the oldest son of a family of three boys and one daughter. Predeceased by his wife Anne, mother Muriel, father Albert, brother Larry, nephew Robby Oehler, and brotherin-law Joe Brickner. He is survived by his brother Wilbert Oehler, sister Arlene Brickner, niece Dawn Oehler, nephews Tim Oehler, Cory Parks and Joey Brickner and their families, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Bob will be fondly remembered for his strong love of family, friends and compassion for all living things. Always busy and working to help others, Bob was very special to all that knew him. We will miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 26, 2008 at 2:00 at the Semans United Church with Rev. Robin Sherman officiating. Interment at a later date.

PAISLEY - Margery Rose (nee Whitmarsh) Lidgren passed away peacefully in her 92nd year on May 6, 2010 at Regina Pioneer Village. Born March 5, 1918 at Dunblane, SK and raised in Moose Jaw, she was predeceased by her parents and two siblings, Nora Szuch and Lae Grieve, as well as her ex husbands Hal Lidgren and Doug Paisley. She is survived by her sons: Martin (Loretta) Lidgren Semans, SK; Roy (Anna) Lidgren Redwater, AB. And 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. During her lifetime, after leaving Moose Jaw, she resided in Ottawa, Kincaid, Shaunavon, Regina, Swift Current and Sidney, Saanich, Penticton, Nelson & Castlegar, B.C. before returning to Moose Jaw in 1995. She has resided in Regina since 2001. Thanks to the caregivers at Gemini Personal Care Home, Elmview Extendicare and Pioneer Village for the excellent care they provided to our mother. As per Mom's wishes, she has been cremated with a private family service at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Regina Funeral Home.

PAPROSKI - Mervyn John of Semans passed away August 27, 2009 at the age of 77. PEEKE - Beverly "Bev" Peeke (December 13, 1932 ? December 20, 2013) passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the age of 81. Bev is survived by his loving wife of 21 years Anna Mae Peeke; his children Lynda Dudley (Gary Holmstrom); Barrie (Melanie) Peeke; Bob (Shelley) Peeke; Connie (Daryl) Kozak; step-sons Jim (Wendy) Nakoneshny and Brian Nakoneshny; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one great-nephew; his niece Brenda (Jim) Grant and his sister-in-law Edna Peeke. A private family gathering was held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 to celebrate his life.

PEEKE - John Desmond. In memory of John Desmond "Des" Peeke who passed away on Friday, December 26, 2008 at Raymore Silver Heights Home in Raymore, SK, at the age of 85 years. Des is lovingly remembered by his wife Edna of 50 years together; daughter Brenda (Jim) Grant of Semans; one and only special grandson Brendan Grant; brother Bev (Anna Mae); nephews, Barrie (Melanie) Peeke, Robert (Shelly) Peeke; nieces, Lynda Dudley, Connie (Daryl) Kozak; six great-nieces and five great-nephews; sisters-in-law, Linda Danielson and Eileen Peeke. Des was predeceased by parents John Edgar and Lillian Elizabeth "Lil", aunts and uncles in England. Des was born in Saskatoon on April 5, 1923 and grew up in the Alexandra and Highclere school districts where he took his education south of Semans. Upon watching airplanes flying over he decided to join the Air Force at the age of 17. In 1945, after returning from the war, he was stationed at Dafoe, Regina, Lachine, Gimli and Riverton. Following this, Des purchased farmland south of Semans and farmed until 1974. During this time he drove the school bombardier in the winter months bringing children from the north to Semans School. After the passing of their father, Des and Bev built a new home for their mother in town. They then purchased the John Deere dealership on Main Street and in 1957 began constructing Peeke's Esso Service and cafe across from the school. Des married Edna Lewis in 1958 and built their new home. In the fall of 1963 they decided to build an eight unit motel and opened in September 1964, the Westview Motel in Raymore. Des opened the service centre with Massey Ferguson and Imperial Oil dealership. Later renovating to a dwelling. The motel was expanded and he continued farming and moved to Raymore until 1974, then returned to Semans the following spring, Des sold the land and in 1978 became a salesman at Case Power in Raymore until 1980 and received Salesman of the Year award. Des decided to pursue flying lessons and obtained his private pilot's license and purchased a Cessna 177 airplane and built an ultra light plane along with a runway and hanger at the farm. During this time he was on Village Council and Mayor of Semans for many years retiring in 1982. Des was a representative on the Semans Gym Committee for the construction of the gym as well as Library Board and president of the Home and School Committee. Des also worked for the Saskatchewan Weights and Measures in Regina during the winter months. He ventured into selling SkiDoos, in trade for grain sometimes. He was also an active member of the Saskatchewan Water East Central Watershed Advisory Board 1984-1991. Des was active as campaign manager for a political group, and worked for Demeter Agro contracting Mustard for over 20 years, selling and inspecting crops, taking him all over the provinces and California. He was very active with the Semans Wheat Kings in the 1950s, being on the executive and driving players to games. He held membership in the Semans Legion for 64 years, and served as President for many of those years. Des loved music and his piano playing every day at home and animals of all kinds were very important in his life, patience and kindness to very devoted pets. He loved to travel and took his family on many trips from Florida to Alaska, England and Hawaii. One of his greatest pleasures was his one and only grandson with whom he spent a lot of time. He decided, since he loved to travel, to become a tour escort with Anik Travel of Regina. He then purchased his first coach in 1992 and a second bus later and traveled many places with new and old friends. As his health declined with Parkinson's and a heart condition, he sold the bus in January 2002 and finally retired and became a resident of Raymore Silver Heights Home in November of 2007. Des will be sadly missed by all that knew him. A memorial service was held at Semans School Gymnasium in Semans. SK, on Friday, January 2 at 2:00 p.m. Mary Anne Grand was the officiant. Register attendants were Howard and Anne Speers. Ushers were Legion members Lloyd Saul and Tom Anderson. Honourary Pallbearers were all that knew him. Soloist Eric Jeschke sang The Holy City. Reflection by Arnold Tusa was followed by the hymn Beyond the Sunset. Commendation was followed by piano recessional music. Piano music was by Wanda Shiels. Lunch by Janet Williams. PERRATT - William James "Jim" passed away peacefully on October 13, 2008 at Royal University Hospital with his wife Betty by his side. Jim was born on December 9, 1923 in Tate, SK, living briefly in Harris, SK, before moving to the family farm at Dodsland, SK. Jim enlisted in the military in November 1942 and was shipped overseas on the Queen Mary as a member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons. After landing in Scotland he completed his tour of duty first in Sicily, and then throughout Italy, Germany and Holland. While in Scotland he met his future wife, Betty (Elizabeth Lyon), at a dance. They were married after the war on October 18, 1947 in Dodsland and enjoyed a great life together. They farmed in Dodsland and enjoyed many winters in Arizona and Texas. Jim refereed hockey games and played and umpired ball. He was also very active in the Royal Canadian Legion (221), serving as President, Secretary and Zone Commander. He was also Past Director of the Dodsland Credit Union Board. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Mary and William Perratt. Left to remember Jim are his wife Betty; his brother Jack (Bea); his sisters Helen Lewis, Mary Morris (Harold), Donella MacMillan (Jim), Jean Holt (Doug); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the RUH ICU staff for taking such good care of Jim. PHILLIPS - Edna May (nee Shaw). The death of Edna May Phillips aged 87 years of Regina and formerly of Semans, SK occurred at the Regina General Hospital on Friday January 18, 2008. Edna was predeceased by her husband Les; parents Jake and Gladys Shaw; grandson Darcy Latoski; daughter-in-law Pat Phillips; brothers, Alvie, twin Elmo, Denzil and John Shaw; and sister Julia Ainsworth. She is survived by her loving family; two sons Jim (Gloria) Phillips and Frank (Sharon) Phillips, all of Semans; a daughter Patricia (Trish) (Bernie) Latoski of Regina; six grandchildren Mike (Lorna) Phillips; Shelly (Tim) Boudreau; Terry (Shari) Phillips; Sherry (Brad) Missura; Darren (Linmarie) Latoski; Jason (Selenna) Latoski; eight great-grandchildren Ashley and Taylor Phillips; Colton Phillips; Paige and Regan Klus; Baylee Missura; Teidra and Quaid Latoski; and several nieces and nephews. PHILLIPS - James Alsworth, April 8, 1942 - September 4, 2009. Jim is lovingly remembered by wife Gloria Wojcichowsky of Semans, SK, son Mike (Lorna), grandchildren Ashley and Taylor Phillips of Clavet, SK, and daughter Michelle Shelly (Tim Boudreau) Phillips of Halifax, NS. Happy times will also be remembered by his brother Frank (Sharon) Phillips of Semans, SK and sister Patricia (Bernie) Latoski of Regina, SK and their families. Jim was predeceased by his father and mother Leslie and Edna (nee Shaw) Phillips, and his loving wife of 37 years, Patricia Phillips. Jim was a pipefitter by trade, a profession which took him to various locations throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta. In the fall of 1974 Jim and Pat purchased their acreage near Plunkett, SK where they raised their children and spent many happy times with their grandchildren. After Pat passed away in December of 2000, Jim found love and companionship with wife Gloria. Jim and Gloria made a home together in Semans, SK where they enjoyed visits from family and friends, including Gloria's grandchildren. Jim loved kids, horses, hunting, fishing, rodeos, country and western music, dancing, and laughing with family and friends. He had a quick wit and a remarkable (usually offcolour) sense of humour. Although it rarely showed, Jim had an incredibly soft and fragile heart beneath his rough gruff exterior. The family extends sincerest thanks to Jim's caregivers in the ICU at St. Paul's Hospital for their care and concern for him and for us. PHILLIPS - William "Bill" Ralph, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at the age of 72 years, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, with his loving family at his side. He was predeceased by his much-loved grandson Cory Hovind; his parents Bowen and Laura; brothers Howard, Leslie, Chummy and sister Norma Barclay. Bill is survived by his loving wife Arlene; his daughters Linda (Doug) Hovind, Diane and Joanne; his son Brian; his grandchildren Jerod (Christa), Dylan and Luke; his brother Ross (Chris); sister Doris Collis as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was born in Semans, SK on January 24, 1934, he and Arlene were married for 53 years, they lived their lives in the Estlin District, where Bill was a grain buyer for 31 years later retiring to farm full time. Bill and Arlene were very active in their children and grandchildren's lives, he coached ball and hockey at various times over the years as his children were in different activities, attending many hockey and basketball games and events in his grandchildren' lives. Bill had a very special gift with children and loved spending time with them and made many lasting bonds with these children over the years with friendships in all age groups. Bill was a loving father and grandfather and it was an honor for us to have had him in our lives, words cannot express how much he will be missed. A CELEBRATION OF BILL'S LIFE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Friday, May 26, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Kevin Gooding officiating. PICKRELL - Claremont Herman Pickrell (May 21, 1936 December 15, 2005) of Saskatoon passed away suddenly. He was predeceased by his parents: Herman & Alexas, siblings: Phyllis (Roy) Kempton, Bob (Ruth) & Jack (Arlene). Clare is survived by two daughters: Beverly (Greg) & grandchildren: Kris, Sara & Hailey & Shawna (Chris Teed); siblings Elaine (Eldon deceased) Sinnamon, Erma (Pat) Riley, Calvin (Joyce deceased) & Lenore (Larry) Morrison. Clare was a journeyman mechanic, both for work & pleasure. He enjoyed square dancing and gave of himself by chauffeuring to different dances and assisting with wheelchair square dancing. He was a huge fan of the local sports scene. After his career, he found new enjoyment in designing and hooking rugs & home brewing. He was a very social person & will be missed by family, friends & acquaintances. Clare was a spirited individual who never gave up the fight. Following cremation, a family service will be held in Semans at a later date.

PICKRELL - Joyce Aileene (nee Marshall) passed away on Monday, August 30, 2004 at the age of 58 after a long and courageous battle with Scleroderma. Predeceased by her father Gordon Marshall in 1977 and her sister Marlene in 1995, Joyce is survived by her loving husband Calvin of Semans; daughter Connie (Robert) Edgar of Tampa Bay, Florida; grandchildren: Kyle and Tristan; son Conrad Roth of B.C., her mother Laurena Marshall of Raymore; sisters: Vivian (Lloyd) Massier of Humboldt, Valerie Marshall (Allan) of Raymore; brothers: Wayne (Sylvia) Marshall of Raymore, Jim (Fareda) Marshall of Edmonton, Robert Marshall and friend Maureen of Semans, Greg (Edie) Marshall of Semans and Bruce (Ruth) Marshall of Spruce Grove, AB and a brother-in-law Albert Massier of Semans as well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. PRATT - Mabel (August 1931 - May 16, 2013) of Semans, Sask. Mabel died peacefully with her husband loyally by her side after a long 15 year struggle with Alzheimer's. She is predeceased by her parents Ernie and Louise, siblings Kathleen, Genevieve, Helen, Johnny, Margaret, Dorothy, Laura. Mabel is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Jack, her children Jim (Penny), Les (Laurie), Gale (Dean), grandchildren Lindsay (Jason), Amber (Sheldon), John, great grandchildren Lily and Savanna, brother Dickie (Marina), brother-in-law Jim, sister-in-law Joan and countless nieces and nephews. Mabel always maintained a deep trust in Jehovah God's promise of a paradise earth and the resurrection hope . Even when her Alzheimer's caused her to forget almost everything, she never forgot her love for Jehovah. RATTAI - Arlene Gail (February 7,1952 - January 27, 2015). It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of 'Our Gail'. Gail was born in Wadena, SK., eldest daughter of Ervin and Doreen Rattai. She received her education at Semans, graduated in 1971, and worked for Extendicare in Regina for over 40 years, touching the lives of many. A celebration of life for Gail was held at 2:30 PM on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Broadway United Church, 105 Broadway Avenue, Regina, SK., with Rev. Jim Balfour officiating. Gerry Feist, brother-in-law of Gail reflected on stories and the life of Gail. She was a very warm-hearted, fun-loving person. She loved her family, friends, work, playing cards and entertaining everyone. She loved the cabin at Last Mountain Regional Park, spending time there with family, fishing, swimming and maybe even having the odd adult refreshment! Esther Duppron, a best friend and co-worker of Gail's, spoke on behalf of all the people that enjoyed working with Gail over her 43 years at Extendicare. Esther reflected on some residents even taking Gail on vacation with them to Vegas! The love and respect for her was over-whelming. Many stories were shared with family at the luncheon. Gail was predeceased by her father Ervin, mother Doreen, and brother Randy. She leaves to mourn her sister Diane (Gerry) Feist, of Kelowna, B.C.; and sister-in-law Maureen Rattai (Elden Schira) of Strasbourg, SK. RICHARDSON - Jean Veronica (nee Corrie) passed away peacefully with family at her side on February 5, 2009 at the age of 88. Jean was born to Frank and Isabel Corrie in Hexham, England on May 4, 1920 and attended school in Surrey and Sussex where she enjoyed field hockey, tennis and riding. She obtained a dispensing certificate from the London College of Pharmacy and was proud of her work preparing dressings for burned airmen hospitalized in East Grinstead. Jean married Captain George Richardson on Dec 29, 1943 and travelled to Canada in June 1945, forgoing her career to be a devoted wife and mother. The family farmed near Semans, Sask. until 1979. Jean and George lived in Ottawa from 1979 to 1982, retiring to Regina, and moving to Saskatoon in 1997. Jean will be sadly missed by her sons Malcolm (Sharon) of High River, Alberta, Gavin (Elaine) of Charlottetown, PEI, daughter Jane of Saskatoon, Sask., grandchildren Brenda, Ian, Shari, Heather and Susan, and great grandchildren Karra and Savanna. She was predeceased by her husband George, brother Ian and sister Morag. In accordance with her wishes, a private family commitment service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at the St. John's Cathedral Columbarium. The family expresses their sincere thanks to the staff of Elderlife Care Home and Geriatric Services, Ward 6200 and Palliative Care Services at Saskatoon City Hospital for the excellent care they provided during the last year of her life.

RIVNEY - Anita (nee McKaeff) March 31, 1943 - August 25, 2015. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Anita Rivney, 72, of Semans SK. She passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at he Pasqua Hospital in Regina SK. Anita is survived by her loving husband Mike of Semans; daughters Donna Gilewicz (Tom) of Regina, SK. and Amanda Rivney (Kurt Elmer) of Sedley, SK.; brother Fred McKaeff (Delphine) of Indian Head, SK.; and sisters-in-law Kay McKaeff of Regina, SK. and Liz McKaeff of Norway, SK. She was predeceased by parents Fred and Tina McKeaff of Kamsack SK; and brothers John McKaeff of Norquay, SK. and George McKaeff of Regina, SK. Anita was also a caring aunt to several nieces and nephews and their children. The family would like to express sincere gratitude and thanks to the doctors and staff of the ICU and ward 4 at the Pasqua Hospital. You gave comfort to Anita and her family during this difficult time. ROBERTS - Ella Nordon (nee Furneaux) late of Saskatoon, SK went to be her Lord and Saviour on Wednesday morning, August 29, 2012. She was born on July 23, 1917 at Semans, SK. Ella is predeceased by her husband Earl, her son Barry, daughter Phyllis Gregor, parents Fred and Gladys Furneaux, and sister Grace. She is survived by her brothers Stuart Furneaux of Surrey, BC and Ron (Elsie) Furneaux of Regina, SK, son-in-law Walter Gregor of Martensville, SK, daughter-in-law Charlene Roberts of Oakville, ON, granddaughters Sherry (Derin) Hildebrandt of Martensville, Cynthia (Steven) Bell of Oakville, and Heather (Ken) Boyd of Vancouver, WA, great-granddaughters Alissa and Amy Hildebrandt of Martensville and Sadie and Emily Boyd of Vancouver, WA, great-grandsons Matthew Hildebrandt of Martensville and Nathaniel, Ethan and Joseph Bell of Oakville. Memorial service to be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 107 McWillie Ave, Saskatoon on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Leyton Erickson officiating. A private family interment will occur at Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery prior to the memorial service.

ROTH - Gary Louie Roth, age 67, died peacefully on January 12,2011 at the Breton Care Home, Breton, AB. He was born on April 21, 1943, the son of Olga (Wagner) and Louie Roth. Gary was preceded in death by his son Conrad in 2007. He is survived by his daughter Connie (Rob) and grandchildren, Kyle and Tristyn Edgar, currently residing in Germany. Gary is also survived by his sisters Lorna (Jerome) Pasloski and Loris Roth. At the age of 15 years, Gary helped his father by hauling grain, and later fuel, for the family store located across from Grain Growers Hall. In 1965, Gary's love of the automobile and the ability to create anything resulted in beginning of 'Gary's Auto Body' shop. Gary, a self taught journeyman customized and repaired numerous types of vehicles. Unfortunately, Gary was forced to stop his work in the shop due to a diagnosis of MS. Gary spent his spare time hunting, traveling and racing. Many of his summer weekends were spent at local chariot and chuck wagon competitions. Gary was well known for his cooking skills. His famous 'Mulligan' stew was always on the stove. His neighbors, friends, and family knew the door was always open for a hungry soul. In 2004, Gary fulfilled his lifelong dream, and moved to BC. Later ending up in Breton, AB, where he spent the last several years of his life. Gary was known for his big smile, loud belly laughs, and mischievous behavior.

RUNOLFSON - Anna (nee Massier). It is with great sadness that the family of Anna Runolfson, late of Semans, announce her peaceful passing on Friday, February 24, 2012. Anna was born on September 27, 1918 at Coronach to Karl and Caroline Massier. She was predeceased by her son, Larry; grandson, Brett; daughter-in-law, Lorraine; her parents and her brothers and sisters Bill, Wilhelmina, Lydia, Rudy and their spouses. Anna is loved and will be forever remembered by her husband John whom together would have celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary on March 5, 2012. Her sons, Chuck (Marilyn) of Ottawa; Ron (Bev) of Edmonton; Gerry (Elayne) of Vancouver and daughters, Debbie (Ray) Lamontagne of Semans; Wanda (Brian) Fazakas of Raymore and daughter-in-law, Darlene. Missing Grandma are 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Also, left to mourn are Anna's half sisters and brothers and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 10th at 2:00 PM in Semans United Church.

RUNOLFSON - John. Holding the hands of his daughters, John Runolfson of Semans passed away peacefully, on Saturday, September 22, 2012. John was born at Semans on July 20, 1915 to Olafur and Bertha Runolfson. John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anna on February 24, 2012; his son, Larry; grandson, Brett; daughter-in-law, Lorraine; his parents and all of his siblings - Bella, Peggy, Bertha, Harold, Laufey, Albert and their spouses. John leaves to mourn his children Chuck (Marilyn); Ron (Bev); Gerry (Elayne); Debbie (Ray) Lamontagne; Wanda (Brian) Fazakas and daugher-in-law, Darlene . Fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren will forever remember "Gramps".

RUNOLFSON - Mabel Catherine (nee Goodin). On December 2, 2004 Mabel Catherine Runolfson of Regina, Sk. passed away after a lengthy illness, at the age of 73 years. Predeceased by her dear husband Harold (of Semans, Sk.) on November 26, 1986. Mabel will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Linda Jerricke and grandson Donal, her brother Ed (Marg), and sisters Rita, Hilda, Bonnie (Walter),and Marlene (Roy). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews on both sides of her and Harold's family, whom she thought of often. Mabel was cremated and at her request there will be no services held, she simply hopes that her family and friends will fondly remember the many good times they shared. Very special thanks go to her doctors and the compassionate staff at the Palliative Care Unit of the Pasqua Hospital who made Mabel's last days as easy as they could be. She lived with grace and passed with dignity.

RUSKI - William (Bill) of Semans District passed away peacefully on his farm on August 30, 2003 at the age of 97 years. Predeceased by three brothers and two sisters, he leaves to cherish his memory his wife Blanche of 73 years, daughter Alice (Hugh) Sweet, two grandsons Darin (Rhonda) and Daryl (Jackie), three greatgrandchildren Kassidy, Joel and Jesse, sister Jean Danish, brother Harry (Polly), six sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, neighbours, and friends. SAUL - Myrtle Pauline (nee Gobrell) passed away Wednesday July 21, 2004 at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by her husband John, her parents Helene and Elmer Grobell, four sisters and one brother. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Lloyd, two brothers Clifford (Kathleen) and Maynard, three sisters Wilma Auchstaetter, Florence (Michael) Gushulak and Helen (Edward) Karst, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday July 24, 2004 at 2 PM from Semans United Church. Interment Semans Cemetery.

SCHAFFER - Hilda Mabel (nee Brooks) 1919 - 2010 was born February 26, 1919 on a farm near Keystown, SK. to Hugh Archibald and Bertha Annie Brooks. She was the oldest surviving child. Between 1923 and 1930 the family moved to Horizon. Hilda walked 3 1/2 miles with her sisters to West Lawn School. About 1929 the Brooks family moved to Regina where Hilda attended Albert School and then Kitchener School. In the spring of 1937 Hilda boarded a train for Duval. A few months later she moved to the Semans district. That summer she met Victor at a ball game and on October 29, 1937 they exchanged wedding vows. That same fall the happy couple moved to New Liskard, ON. with Victor's family. In 1940 Victor & Hilda returned to Cymric, SK. and became hired help on different farms. A short time later they moved back to the Semans District. On January 10, 1946 an infant daughter was laid to rest. In the fall of that same year Donna became part of the family by adoption. Hilda taught Sunday School, helped organize Sunday School picnics, and served on the executives at numerous levels of the Ladies Aid Society, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Lutheran Church Women, helped organize and serve suppers at weddings and funerals, held bridal and baby showers for the church families as well as for the Alexandra School District families. She cooked fabulous meals for friends and family, threshing gangs and road building gangs. She helped organize the school picnics for the Alexandra School and worked as caretaker at the school for a couple of years. In her spare time she looked after a huge garden, sewed for Donna and herself, quilted and embroidered. In 1979 she and Dad sold the farm and retired to Regina. For 29 years they lived a few blocks from Christ Lutheran Church in Regina and again Mom and Dad were active members until bad health forced them to "take life easier". In August of 2008 they relocated to Ultimate Care where they continued to enjoy their retirement years together. The family would like to thank the Ultimate Care Home staff for the wonderful care given to Hilda for the past year and a half as well as the staff on 3D and 4B at the Pasqua Hospital for their compassionate care. Hilda was predeceased by her parents Hugh and Bertha Brooks; husband of 72 years Victor Schaffer; infant sister Evelyn; infant daughter Marlene; sisters Mona (Eddie) Edgcumbe, Pearl (Ernie) Keasey and Doris (Walt) Green; brother Glenn Brooks; sisters-in-law Hilda (Irvine) Chamberlin and Pauline (Cecil) Creamer; and brothers-in-law Stewart McMillan, Ernie Harbridge and Jacob den Blekker. She leaves to mourn her daughter Donna (Ken) Schultz; grandsons Garrett and Craig Schultz; and three great granddaughters Allison, Kayla and Dayna; as well as special niece Heather (Russ) Warner; sister Dora McMillan; brothers-inlaw Alex (Mae) Schaffer, Fred (Pat) Schaffer;and sister-in-law Tillie den Blekker; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of Hilda's life will be held at the Regina Funeral Home, Highway #1 East, Regina on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bob Leeson officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service.

SCHMIDT - Elsie Esther (nee Karst) passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the age of 88 years. She was predeceased by her husband (George) Alfred Schmidt (1996); and infant daughter Daphne Darlene (1946). Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her children Maxine (Nicolas) Issa, Gloria (Eugene) Radomsky, and Kevin (Evelyn Gray) Schmidt; grandchildren Nadia (Torrey) Laack, Ramon (Celeste) Issa, Tetiana (David) Appel, Tiffany (Ben) Bartsch, Kelly (Darren) Lambert and Karry Schmidt (Robyn Wallis); great-grandchildren Xavier, Soren and Axel Laack, Chloe, Joshua, Kaidin, Seth and Drew Issa, Zachary and Silas Appel, Caleb Bartsch, Kailey Lambert, and Zoe and Quinn Schmidt. Elsie was born near Cymric, SK to Mary and Sam Karst on April 13, 1926. Elsie attended Ashleaf School until grade 10, and then worked as a telephone operator. On July 23, 1945 she married Alfred. They farmed near Semans and in 1955 moved to a farm in the Qu'Appelle area. Elsie loved horses and usually had at least one on the farm. She also loved playing piano and organ 'by ear'. In her retirement she took lessons. As a farm wife, she always had a large garden and helped around the farm. In 1995 they retired to Regina. Elsie had a passion for life, family and her church. A celebration of life will be held at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3720 Hill Avenue, Regina, SK on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.

SELLERS - Pat (nee Berkan). On Thursday, October 28, 2004 Pat Sellers, late of Regina, SK passed away at the age of 56 years. Predeceased by her parents Roy and Elizabeth Berkan; Pat is survived by her beloved husband Roy; brothers: Ralph (Lyda), Douglas (Carol), Neil (Sandra), Brian, Larry (Cheryl), Earl and Warren (Maureen); sisters-in-law Roseanna (Willard) Willis; Myrtle Scheier; Irene (Roy) Sorensen; brother-in-law Allan (Betty) Sellers and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat married Roy in 1970, farming at Semans, SK until 1990 and providing child care for various people and working in a daycare in Regina. Later Pat and Roy enjoyed traveling, especially bus trips where they met many people. Pat battled diabetes and kidney problems requiring a transplant. Pat never complained and was a favorite with the dialysis staff at the General Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 1, 2004 in the Chapel of Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK with Pastor Bob Leeson officiating. Interment to follow in Ceylon Cemetery, Ceylon, SK.

SHAW - Mary Elizabeth Ellen. The death of Mary Elizabeth Ellen Shaw aged 87 years of Regina SK and formerly of Semans, SK occurred peacefully at the Sunset Extendicare on Wedneday, March 25, 2009. The Memorial Service will be held in Semans United Church on Thursday April 2nd at 2 p.m. conducted by Mary Anne Grand. Interment will take place in Semans Cemetery at a later date. Mary was predeceased by her husband Alvie and daughter Mae Stachowich. She is survived by her son, Denzil (Kathy) Shaw of Dundurn, SK; son in law Henry Stachowich of Melville and six grandchildren.

SHAW - Robert Irwin Shaw passed away with his family at his side on Monday, March 6, 2006 in Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital, Castor, AB at the age of 68 years. Robert "Bob" Irwin Shaw was born February 16, 1938 in Semans, SK at his Grandpa and Grandma Smith?s farm. He was the second oldest child of Norman and Mildred Shaw. Bob attended school at Tate, SK. After school he enjoyed helping his father farm. He also worked for various farmers in the area before moving out to Alberta. Once in Alberta his first destination was Stettler, where he found employment in housing and cement construction. He then moved on, working for John and Paul Wilfort Construction for many years. It was during these years he happened to be working in Magrath, AB where he met the love of his life, Bonnie. It was love at first sight! Bob and Bonnie were married in 1965. To this union three children were born; Kenneth, Dana and Kelly. Bob was a hard worker and was often away supporting his family working throughout Alberta. He was always busy building roads, leases, dugouts and pipelines. In 1972 Bob and Bonnie moved to Coronation working as a foreman for Neville Hughes, a long-time friend. In 1985, Bob decided to start his own company "Robert Shaw Construction". Bob subcontracted out for various companies such as; M & N Construction, M & N Pipeline and local farmers. Unfortunately Bob had to retire early due to health problems. One of his saddest moments was selling his CAT and watching it drive out of the yard. Over the years Bob?s true passion was camping, fishing and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family. One of his favourite lakes was Lac Des Isles, SK where he went camping for over 30 years with family and friends. Spending time with grandchildren was a highlight for Bob. You would often find Bob sitting with his family. Bob will be sadly missed. Survived by his loving wife Bonnie; children, Ken (Roxanne), Dana (Darren Parker), Kelly (Patty); grandchildren, Garrett, Brittany, Trey, Carver, Mikeala, Breanne, Tristen and Alyssa. Predeceased by his brother Wayne (1938), father Norman (1966), mother Mildred (1988) and sister Lorraine (1990). Funeral Services were held at the Coronation Community Centre, Coronation, Alberta on Friday, March 10, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Stephen Shantz of Trinity United Church officiating. Reverend Jim Culham shared a prayer and encouraging words. Tara Godlien and Diane Berg gave a loving tribute in memory of their uncle Bob. Harvey Granatier, brother in-law gave the eulogy. Prelude music was songs Bob that loved throughout the years. Linda Osetsky played the piano for the congregational hymns, ?How Great Thou Art? and ?The Old Rugged Cross?. Recorded selections by Dana Shaw ?Daddy?s Hand? and ?Grandpa? were played during the video tribute. ?Rose Of My Heart? by Johnny Rodriguez was the recessional selection. Honorary pallbearers were ?All Bob?s Friends and Fellow Co-Workers Over The Years?; active pallbearers were Jayden Hewitt, Tim Wakefield, Clint Hillmer, Brad Phillips, David Shaw and John Leuck Jr. Following the funeral service family and friends remained at the Community Centre for a time of visiting and reminiscing. A beautiful lunch was prepared and served by the Sunshine Club.

SHIER - Bella Irene was born at Saltcoats, Sask. on August 25, 1912, being the first of six children. She passed peacefully through Heaven's Gates with family at her side on April 24, 2007. She was pre-deceased by her husband Ernest, a twin brother at birth, as well as her brother Tom and sister Edna. Bella is survived by sister Beulah Barry in Ontario, sister Leta (Ray) Furneaux of Watrous, brother Max (Anne) of Strathmore Alberta, brother Bert (Ann) of Seba Beach, Alberta; Also son Edward (Marjorie), grandson Richard, great-grandchildren Tarryn, Taylor, & Tyson; grandson Rodney (Linda), great-grandchildren Cassandra, Gavin, & Ryley; and grandson Raymond (Diane), great-grandchildren Dana & Justin of Vancouver, B.C. Also son Leonard (Linda) of Regina, grandson Darcy (Debbie) Shier and greatgrandchildren Arie and Mitchell of Cochrane, Alberta; granddaughter Kathy (Kevin) Schick and great-grandchildren Cody and Jenell of Regina; grandson Don (Megan) Shier and great-grandchildren Cameron and Nathan of Vernon, B.C. Bella moved to the Semans area in 1929 at the age of 17, where she met and later married Ernest John Shier. Bella and Ernest farmed south of Semans for over 40 years, then resided in Semans for close to 15 years. In 1993, a year or so after Ernest passed away she moved to Regina. Bella resided at the Santa Maria Senior Citizen's Home in Regina for the past four years. Bella was known throughout the farming area for the large flocks of turkeys she raised each year, and later for her excellent baking skills as she stocked the Semans village bake sales. The funeral will be held Monday, April 30th at 2 p.m. in the Semans Pentacostal Assembly Church, with Pastor Cory Steinson officiating.

SHIER - Ernest "Ernie" John Shier, aged 92, passed away quietly on June 4, 1992 in Regina. Born in Lindsay, Ontario on October 16,1899 he came west at the age of 12 with his grandfather to help homestead south of Semans. He returned to Toronto a few months later to finish his schooling and came west again in 1915 to stay. In 1925 a new house was built on the homestead to replace the original one which had burned and in 1928 he built the "house on the hill", both of which still stand today. In 1933 he married Bella Irene Melville. Together they farmed, raised two sons, Ted and Len, and finally in 1974 retired and moved to Semans. There he turned to his hobby of cars and restored several antique models, his final one being a 1927 Chrysler which he finished in his 88th year. He belonged to the Scattered Spokes Antique Car Club and really enjoyed going to parades and meets around the province. The highlight of his efforts was to display a 1930 Chev Coupe at the Concours d'Elegance Antique Car Show at Expo '86 in Vancouver, B.C. Ernest was the eldest of five brothers and was predeceased by Clifford and Reaford of Semans, Milburne (Bill) and Harold (Doc) of Detroit, Mich. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Bella, sons Edward (Ted) of Vancouver, Leonard (Len) of Regina; six grandchildren Richard, Rodney and Raymond of Vancouver, Darcy of Saskatoon, Kathy of Regina and Donald of Edmonton as well as five great grandchildren Cassandra, Tarryn and a newborn of Vancouver, Arie of Saskatoon and Cody of Regina. Funeral services were held on Monday, June 8th at Semans United Church with Pastor David Bodvarson of the Pentacostal Assembly officiating. Interment followed at Semans Cemetery. Fotheringham?McDougall Funeral Services of Nokomis in charge of arrangements. Ernie will truly be missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

SHIER - Esther Marie (nee Lorenz) October 31, 1927 - August 16, 2010. Esther Marie Shier, beloved wife of Norman Shier of Semans, passed away peacefully at Manitou Lodge in Watrous, SK, at the age of 82 years, on Monday, August 16, 2010. Esther was predeceased by: parents, Louis Lorenz and Annie (Ollinger) Lorenz; siblings, Mary (Joe) Daradich, Julia (Peter) David, Helen Biletski, Elmer (Clara) Lorenz, Louis (Helen) Lorenz, Peter Lor-ence; sister-in-laws, Isabel Lorencz and Bernice Popick. Left to honor her memory are: brothers, Ben (Veronica) Lorenz and Tony Lorencz; sister-in-law, Velma Lorence; brother-in-laws, Henry Biletski and Peter Popick; sister-in-law, Joyce McGratton; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Esther was born and raised on a farm in the Arbury District and was the fourth of 10 children born to Hungarian immigrants. As a young woman, she worked at the Sengers General Store in Southey and later at the Sears Catalogue Store in Regina. On May 23, 1959, she married Norman "Shier at St. Ann's Church in Arbury, SK. For several years, they made their home in Regina, but worked the farm they bad purchased in 1961 in the Semans District. In 1962, they moved permanently to the farm near Semans and farmed together there until 2009. In 2009, Esther and Norman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Because of declining health, Esther moved to the Manitou Lodge Special Care Home in Watrous, SK. Special thanks to the staff at Manitou Lodge for the compassionate care Esther received during her time there. A Mass of the Christian Burial service was held at the Raymore Sacred Heart Church in Raymore, SK, on August 21st, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Officiant was Rev. Father Francis Plaparampil. Organist was Fran Wilde. Ushers were Ron Lang and Harvey Degelman. Honourary Pallbearers were Kathy Benko, Jeannie Frankl, Elaine Degelman, Myrna Redshaw, Diane McLaughlin and Bertha Paproski. Eulogy was by Bertha Paproski. Pallbearers were Brian Benko, Keith Frankl, Mark Degelman, Allan Degelman, Allan Redshaw and Merv McLaughlin. Immediately following the service was a lunch in the Raymore School Auditorium. Interment followed at Semans Cemetery.

SHIER - Norman Wesley Shier was born and raised on a farm in the Semans District on Boothe Siding Road, and was the youngest of three children born to Reaford and Verna Shier. He attended Blythewood Country School with his sisters until Grade 8, and then went to Balfour Tech in Regina. As a young man, he continued to help on the family farm, but moved to Regina to work as a tradesman doing drywall and ceiling stipple. On May 23, 1959, Norman married Esther Lorenz at St. Ann's Church in Arbury, SK. For several years they made their home in Regina, but worked a farm they had purchased in 1961 in the Semans District close to his parents home quarter. In 1962 they moved permanently to the farm near Semans, and farmed together there until 2009. Norman had a strong sense of humour and loved to tell a good story. He enjoyed going to town on Saturday nights, and 'jogging' in his half ton to visit on coffee row. He and Esther raised cattle, pigs and chickens, but reduced their operation to grain crops alone in later years. Norman always had a dog at his side for company. He enjoyed trips in his fifth-wheel and later in his motor home. In 2009, Esther and Norman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Esther passed away in August 2010, and Norman moved into Semans that fall. He continued to appreciate the company of his extended family, and visited his nieces and nephews in Calgary, Airdrie and Sylvan Lake. His last trip was to Fergus, ON, in the motor home that he was so proud of, to visit his nephew Larry and reconnect with other Shier family members in the Ontario area. Norman passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at the age of 74 years, at his residence in Semans, SK. Norman was predeceased by: his beloved wife, Esther Shier (Lorenz); parents, Reaford and Verna Shier; and sister, Bernice Popick. SHIER - Reaford Charles, age 73, of Semans, Sask., passed away in Regina October 10, 1976. Funeral service to be held Thursday, October 14, at 2 p.m. from Semans United Church, conducted by Rev. J. SIMMONDS - Lorne Gilroy. The death of Lorne Gilroy aged 74 years formerely of Semans, SK occurred at the Silver Heights Care Home in Raymore on May 1, 2002. Lorne was born February 15, 1928 at Semans, living most of his life there. Lorne is predeceased by his dad Clem, mom Nellie, brother Cyril, sister Margaret, mother and father-in-law Amy and Derward Fish as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Lorne is survived by his loving family; wife Rema, daughters Michelle (Larry) Simmonds of Semans, Amy (Wayne) Giroux of Regina, grandson Leam Giroux of Regina as well as his Stepchildren, Bev Garland & Darryl Garland of Regina. Also his Step grandchildren Jeff Wihidal of Roberts Creek, B.C., Chelsey Ullman of Regina, Tara & Janessa Garland of Strasbourg, Stacey Giroux of Regina, Aunt Dorothy Simmonds of Wadena, brother Dunanc Simmonds of Edmonton AB. as well as nieces, nephews & cousins. SMITH - Dorothy Esther (nee Farrish). Dorothy passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Santa Maria Senior Citizens Nursing Home in Regina, SK. Dorothy was born in Semans, SK on December 16, 1918. She was predeceased by her husband Gervase; son Tom; son-in-law Dale Cameron; brothers Bill and Jabe; stepsister Wilmarie; and her faithful friend and mentor Joseph Miller. Dorothy leaves to mourn, her son Ron (Mary Jane); daughters Tish Cameron and Donna (Doug) Lynd; daughters-inlaw Kathy, Diane and Sharon; stepsister Muriel (John) Murney; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends from activities in school, church and social clubs. Dorothy was an active outdoors person and was thankful daily for her many blessings. SMITH - Harold "Haddie" James Smith passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Regina General Hospital at the age of 70 after a lengthy battle with COPD. He was born to Mary and Donald Smith on March 17, 1938 at NE 6-31-18 Big Quill 308. Harold married Kay Menzies on July 3, 1959 at the Foote Copeland United Church. Harold is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Kay; daughters, Penny Smith and Donna Krause (Barry) and son, Paul (Leanne); grandchildren, Janelle and Brittany Krause and Cordell and Kendra Smith; brothers, Murray (Gordena) and Brian and sister Dorothy Douglas (Terry); aunts, Flo Seignor and Gertrude Walker. In 1956 Harold enlisted in the RC AF where he spent 13 years stationed in Calgary, Toronto and Montreal. He left the RCAF in 1969 to take up his first love, farming. Harold and Kay purchased her dad's farm at Semans. While farming Harold worked at the PFRA as a rider, at Case Power & Equipment setting up and delivering machinery, as well as doing custom cutting and baling. Harold and Kay remained on the family farm until 2006 when Paul and Leanne purchased it and they moved to Raymore. Summers were spent in the RV out at the farm close to the Saskatoon patch. Harold was predeceased by his father, Donald (1980); mother, Mary (2004); sister, Frances Elsie (1935); niece, Gayleen (1964); father-in-law, Leonard Menzies (1978); and mother-in-law, Gertrude (2005). The family would like to express our thanks to First Responders Heidi Linford and Joyce Warriner and the Strasbourg EMS for their assistance. SMITH - Orma Jacklin Smith (August 4, 1910 - January 23, 2008). Sadly the family of Orma Smith announce her passing on January 23, 2008. Orma was born in Semans, Saskatchewan, to a pioneering family and attended school there until she enrolled in the University of Saskatchewan. With a B.A. in hand, she completed nurses training at the Vancouver General Hospital, a Psychiatric Nursing Degree in Toronto, and a Masters Degree in Hospital Administration at McGill. Always one to accept a challenge, she joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps and left home and family on November 11, 1941. Orma served her country as a Captain working in an army hospital in Oribi, South Africa. She returned home in 1944. Her career took her to Lethbridge Alberta, as Director of Nursing at Galt Hospital, to Saint John's General Hospital, New Brunswick as Director of Nursing, to Edmonton Alberta as advisor to schools of nursing, and BC as Director of Education in Mental Health. In 1956 she accepted the position of Nursing Administrator at Saskatoon City Hospital until her retirement in 1971. Orma was a proud member of Third Avenue United Church, Saskatoon and an honorary member of Saskatoon City Hospital School of Nursing. She was much loved, and will be missed by her sister, Beth Garrick of Port Coquitlam BC; and her three nieces, Sandra Bleackley, Linda Nisbet, Trudy Bowman, and their families. Special thanks to her caregivers in the past few years, especially Marleen Klassen of Sunshine Haven in Saskatoon, and Marion Funk and staff at Spruce Manor in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Third Avenue United Church, 304 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, officiated by Rev. Donna Wilson. SMITH - Thomas Edward. On Sunday, January 20, 2002, 9 days after his 81st birthday, Mr. Thomas Edward "Tom" Smith of Yorkton and formerly of Regina passed away at Anderson Lodge, Yorkton, Sk. He was 81 years of age. Tom was born in Semans, Sask, son of William and Mary Smith. After serving in World War II, he made his home in Regina where he met and married the love of his life, Doreen Rooke. Over the years Tom worked at various jobs until he became a foreman for Estevan Brick which called for him to commute for many years. After his retirement, Tom became a Commissionaire for the R.C.M.P. His gentle nature will be greatly missed by his family. Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife, Doreen; his parents, John William and Mary Rose; his brothers, Gervase and Ernest and his sisters, Agnes, Norma, Roberta (in infancy), Doris and Mary. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his son, Terry (Ida) Maleska of Vancouver, B.C.; his daughter, Tammy (Rick) Leland of Yorkton, SK; his grandchildren, Amanda and Deanna Leland of Yorkton and Valerie (Jim) Munro of Calgary, AB; his brother, Doug (Barb) Smith of Regina as well as his Aunt Jean; cousins, Ben and Dan and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. SORENSEN - Edith (nee Mann) was bom August 9,1929. She passed away May 22, 2014 in Regina after a short stay in hospital. Left to cherish her memory are: daughter, Laurie (Jack) Challand, three sons, Frank (Colleen), Sheldon (Jenny) and Mile; as well as 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Edith is predeceased by: her father William and mother Margaret Mann; brothers Ivan, John, Bert, Herb, Leonard and Glenus; sisters Dora, Eva, Tilly, Ruby, Ivy and Gladys. She is survived by: sisters-in-law Edith and Julie Mann, and brothers-in-law Mike Pall and Henry Herman, as well as many nieces and nephews. Edith will be laid to rest at Semans Cemetery, following a memorial service which is to be held at Semans Gymnasium on June 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.

STENSRUD - Margaret Lillian (nee MacMurchy). It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Margaret Stensrud on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in the Pasqua Hospital at the age of 93. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her husband Arne; her daughter Laurine (Rudy) Lackhan; daughter-in-law Judy Stensrud; grandchildren: Kirk (Michelle) Stensrud, Craig Stensrud (Jessica Kronlund), Alyssa Lackhan and Brendin Lackhan, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Margaret was predeceased by her sons Arnold and Kenneth, sister Helen Beynon and brother Gordon MacMurchy. Margaret was born in Semans on November 13, 1916. She attended Normal and taught in a number of schools in Saskatchewan including Crooked River where she met and married her husband of 63 years. Throughout their life together they especially enjoyed camping, their cottage on Long Lake and their travels through Europe, USA and the Caribbean. Margaret enjoyed visits with her family and friends, gardening, travelling, needlepoint, reading and doing her crosswords. She was especially proud of her grandchildren. As per Margaret's wishes, a private family interment will be held in Riverside Memorial Park.

SUTTON - Robert Allan (April 23, 1936 ? March 3, 2017). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Allan Sutton, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, brother and friend. Allan passed away peacefully at the Nokomis Health Centre after a brief and courageous battle with cancer on March 3, 2017 with his family at his side. Allan was predeceased by his parents Bob and Doris Sutton, brother Stewart, son-in-law Ken Miller and parents- in-law Alex and Martha Froats. Allan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Loretta, and his children Brent (Pat) Sutton, Carrie (George) Flotre, Laurie (Kevin) Louis and Colleen (Craig) Mortenson. He will also be greatly missed by his 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren: Geoff, Brendan (Cara), Genna (Blaine and Bennett), Daron (Amanda and Hudson), Jayla, Jory (Eden), Emily, Breanna and Jodi (Merit). He also will be greatly missed by his sister Marion (Victor) Derkach as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Allan was born on the family farm north of Semans, Saskatchewan on April 23, 1936, the eldest of his three siblings. Allan attended school in Wakefield and Semans, and he later found the love of his life. He married Loretta Froats on October 2, 1957 and moved to Regina where he worked for CN Rail. Shortly after, Allan and Loretta moved back to his family farm 12 miles north of Semans where they raised their four children. He retired from farming in 1994 and resided in Govan to be closer to his grandchildren. Allan loved life - he enjoyed travelling across the world, from kissing the Blarney stone in Ireland to walking the Great Wall of China. He loved going on road trips with Loretta in the "blue van," going to church, reading history books and listening to old country music. Allan would initiate a conversation with anyone; he loved telling stories as well as the odd joke. He was a strong community-minded person and always supported the communities around him. He always had time for a chat and a wave. Known for his generosity, kindness and humour, Allan was a friend and an inspiration to many. Most of all, Allan loved his family. He was the rock to his family and would do anything for the people he loved. He enjoyed hosting family gatherings, no matter the occasion. Allan was very involved in his grandchildren's lives: he watched them partake in various sports and never missed a game, and he certainly was their number #1 fan. Allan was a one of a kind man and he truly was special. The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Nokomis Health Centre for caring for Allan and welcoming the family into their home. A memorial service to celebrate and honour his life will be held at Govan Community Centre at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. The burial will take place following the service at Semans Cemetery. A luncheon to follow at Govan Community Centre.

SWANSON - Lillian Beatrice (nee Felton) passed away peacefully on December 3, 2012 at the Silver Heights Special Care Home, Raymore, Saskatchewan at the age of 89 years. Lillian was the youngest child of George and Amy Felton (Alton). Lillian was born at the Felton farm north of Semans on April 8, 1923. Lillian took all of her schooling in the Semans area, followed by Secretarial School in Regina. She worked for Gus Mackay in Semans until she fell in love and married Raymond Swanson in 1942. Lillian (and Raymond) raised four children on a farm south of Semans and moved from the farm into Semans in the fall of 1974. Lillian was very active in her children's activities, and was on the board of numerous community organizations throughout her life. Lillian was predeceased by her parents and in-laws, four brothers, five sisters and their spouses. Also numerous nephews, nieces, and one granddaughter Deena Battenfelder (Swanson). Lillian leaves to mourn: her husband of 70 years and two months - Raymond Swanson; her children - Gail (John) Kluth, Grant (Cathy) Swanson, Lana (Howard) Tonge and Lynn (Kevin) Gettis; her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren - Guy (Sue) Loucks and Annastasia; Lisa (Bill) Loucks and Tyris (Matt), Riliegh, Shai; Austin Battenfelder; Delee Swanson; Craig (Ashley) Swanson and Kaden; Clinton (Melissa) Tonge and Coen, Finn, Emmett; Travis (Miranda) Tonge and Ryker; Shaun (Angela) Gettis and Meadow; Jade (Jason) Van Damme and Mackenzie, Rylee, Preston; Nolan (Jennifer) Gettis and Alexa; and Sheena Gettis. Lillian lived many years struggling with Alzheimer's disease. For the last seven years she was cared for with love and respect at both the Last Mountain Pioneer Home in Strasbourg and for her remaining five and a half years at the Silver Heights Special Care Home in Raymore. The kindness and love given to Lillian by the staff at both facilities was greatly appreciated by Raymond and Family. Rev. Jack Robson officiated and Betty Terschuur was the pianist at Lillian's service and her celebration of life. Lillian was laid to rest on December 10,2012 in the family plot at the Semans Cemetery.

SWANSON - Raymond Harold (March 18, 1923 - January 21, 2017) Raymond Harold Swanson of Semans, SK. passed away peacefully on January 21, 2017 at Outlook Union Hospital with his family by his side. Raymond was born in Northfield, Minnesota on March 18, 1923 and immigrated to Canada in the fall of that year. Raymond attended Blytheswood School until he started farming with his father, Carl, and brother, Edwin, and later, his son Grant. Raymond married Lillian Felton on October 3, 1942. They were blessed with four children, Gail (John), Grant (Cathy), Lana (Howard), Lynn (Kevin); 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Raymond was predeceased by his wife, Lillian; parents, Carl and Marie Swanson; his brother and sisters, Edwin, Mina, Norma and Alice, and their spouses; granddaughter, Deena Battenfelder; and many nieces and nephews. Raymond was an active member of the Semans community throughout his life. He enjoyed watching and participating in many community sports, visiting, dancing, and playing cards with friends and family. Raymond had a keen interest in farming to his last day.A special Thank you to all the Staff at the Outlook Union Hospital for the excellent care, love and support provided to Raymond and his Family during his short stay with them. TAIT - Lynne Diane (nee Hallett). It is with great sadness that the family of Lynne Diane Tait (nee Hallett) announces her passing on March 27, 2012 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Lynne will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Maurice (Moe); her mother Joyce Hallett of Regina; her daughter Cindy (Dan) Clifford of Regina and their girls Courtney and Chelsey; and her son Jeff (Cara) Tait of Regina and their girls Paige and Brooke. Lynne?s four beautiful granddaughters were a special joy in her life. Her love, guidance and support will be truly missed. Lynne also leaves behind many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Lynne was born on February 4, 1946 in Swift Current, SK. She is predeceased by her father Judson Hallett in 2007. Lynne spent her childhood in Semans, SK. Moe and Lynne later moved to Regina to start a family. Lynne always had a love for life and learning was her passion. A proud moment was when Lynne obtained her Certified Management Accountant designation in 1985. She had earlier careers with Cooperators, PRFA and retired as a Senior Trade Commissioner with Industry Canada in 2002. Moe and Lynne moved to Regina Beach to enjoy their retirement, family and friends. She loved to entertain as some of the family?s greatest memories were gatherings at the ?beach?. She enjoyed spending time reading, gardening, golfing and taking on new tasks whether it was jewelry making or geocaching. Other talents included playing the piano. Lynne took pride watching and supporting her families many accomplishments over the years in the sport of curling. Moe and Lynne loved to travel and recently enjoyed a trip to Alaska and Yukon which she recalled fondly. Her gentle kind personality touched so many lives. We will miss her greatly. TAIT - Maurice James "Moe". It is with great sadness that the family of Maurice James Tait announces his sudden passing on November 21, 2013 at the age of 67 years. Maurice (Moe) was predeceased by his loving wife Lynne in 2012. He will be forever remembered by his daughter Cindy (Dan) Clifford and their daughters Courtney and Chelsey of Regina; his son Jeff (Cara) Tait and their daughters Paige and Brooke of Regina. Moe also leaves behind his brother Ed (Isabelle) Tait of Saskatoon; his sister Jeanette (Hilding) Franson of Duncan; his mother-in-law Joyce Hallett of Regina; and step-mother Doris Tait of Regina. Moe will be sadly missed by all his wonderful relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Hazel Tait; and sister Fran Peterson. Moe was born on May 5, 1946 in Quill Lake, Sask. He spent his childhood in Semans, Sask. where he met the love of his life, Lynne. Moe and Lynne later moved to Regina to start a family. Maurice enjoyed a career with the Department of Highways for 32 years. Once retired, he continued to do contract work with Palliser Aggregates. Moe and Lynne moved to Regina Beach where they delighted in spending time with their family and friends. The family will always treasure the wonderful memories of barbecues and gatherings at the beach. Moe?s interests included curling, golfing, fishing and camping. He achieved many accomplishments in the sport of curling. A proud moment was when he went to the 1977 Brier in Montreal to represent Saskatchewan. Moe loved to travel as he and Lynne would spend summers at the beach and winters down south. He fondly recalled a trip they took to Alaska and the Yukon in 2011. Earlier this year, Moe fulfilled a dream vacation to Florida to watch the Blue Jay's spring training camp. He was his children and grandchildren?s biggest fan. His four beautiful granddaughters were a special joy in his life. His guidance, love and support will be truly missed. THOMPSON - Donald Eugene (January 14, 1929 - January 4, 2011). Donald Thompson of Semans, Sask. passed away peacefully at the Lanigan Hospital on January 4, 2011. He was predeceased by his son Wade. THOMPSON - Orma Faye (nee Lockhart). It is with profound sadness that the family of Orma Faye Thompson announce her quiet passing on February 12, 2012 in St. Albert, AB, at the age of 90 years. Orma will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by: her sons, Wayne (Ann) and children Darcy, Lesli (Mark) and Susan, Dayle (Gayle) and Darla and Gary (Marlene) and children Jeffery and Lori; daughter, Wendy (Dale); and great-grandson, Gavin. Orma grew up on a farm outside of Semans, SK, and spent 30 years teaching public school at various communities in Saskatchewan. In July 1997, she moved to St. Albert, AB, for a newer home, other family members and help with medical needs. THOMPSON - Thelma Alice (October 18, 1928 - February 3, 2011). Thelma Alice Thompson of Nokomis, SK and formerly of Semans SK passed away peacefully at the Nokomis Health Centre on February 3, 2011. She was predeceased by her son Wade and husband Donald January 4, 2011. WALKER - John, late of Silver Heights Nursing Home, Raymore, SK. and formerly of Semans and Tate districts passed away peacefully on Friday December 5, 2001 at the age of 97 years. A private family service will be held, with interment in Tate Cemetery.

WHEATLEY - Glen "Chic" (April 22, 1933 - January 3, 2012). Glen slipped away very peacefully in the wee hours of Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Grace Hospice. He was predeceased by: his parents Charlie and Betty; sister Beth; and brothers Stewart, Duncan and Gordon. Glen is survived by: his loving wife Norma; daughter Carla (Allan) Stanish; sons Grant (Mary Lou), Scott and Darin (Tanya); grandchildren Evan and Connor, Brittani and Christopher (Heather), and Karlee and Jordan; great-granddaughter Ava; as well as many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Glen was born and grew up in Semans, SK. As a young man, Glen was the star goalkeeper for the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame Semans Wheat Kings. He and Norma were married in 1957 after a whirlwind (three month) romance. Glen and his dad Charlie were the proud proprietors of Wheatley's Barbering, Bowling and Billiards Emporium for many years. In 1964, he moved his family to Regina where he became the successful owner of Deluxe Painting and Decorating Company. In 1978, Glen and Norma moved to Melfort where he carried on his painting business until 1987, when they relocated back to Regina. Glen then took on the most challenging job of his career - the painting and decorating of the Ramada Hotel and Convention Centre. Retirement followed and so did the purchase of a cottage at Last Mountain Regional Park, where many good friendships were formed and happy times abounded. Glen was an artist, painting wildlife and prairie scenes. He appreciated nature and the birds in his backyard were the best fed birds in Regina. He loved to fish and hunt and cherished the times spent at Llewisyn Lodge with his buddies, Claude and Tim. He spent hours puttering in the garage, always fixing something. He had an appreciation for times and things of the past, collecting many antiques and vintage family photos. Glen was a proud English gentleman who enjoyed the simpler things in life, being with his family and friends, but never comfortable with being the center of attention. Therefore, Glen's request was that there be no funeral service. Please hold your memories of Glen close in your heart. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

WHITE - David passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre on Thursday, March 31, 2005. He was born June 20, 1919 at Semans SK. He served overseas for four years as a military police until the war came to an end. He was a checker in the freight sheds for the C.N.R. for 31 years as well as a member of the Army and Navy Air Force. David is survived by two brothers, Tom (Dorothy) White of Salmon Arm, BC and Gordon of Tisdale, SK. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister. A Memorial Service for David will be held in the Chapel of Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre (2200 St. Henry Avenue) on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in conjunction with their regular memorial service officiated by Chaplain Conrad Jantzen. Interment will take place in the Veterans Section of Woodlawn Cemetery.

WILLIAMS - John Charles Williams (November 9, 1948 - February 25, 2011) lost his battle with cancer on February 25, 2011 at the age of 62 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Joan (nee Dallas) and is survived by: brother, Merle (Betty); sister, Diane (Albert) Lahaie; brother, Blaine (Danna); nieces and nephews. John was schooled in Semans and raised on the family farm that was homesteaded in 1904 by his grandfather John Dallas. John loved the farming lifestyle and assisted his parents until he took over the family farm. He was very dedicated to the farm and never took a vacation. He would harvest all night long, combining and trucking his grain. Every year. John gathered hay and bedding to ensure livestock were taken care of. John enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching TV and reading farming publications. Farming required John to be a manager, accountant, tax expert, planner, mechanic, welder, veterinarian and inventor. He was able to make machinery run longer than expected. John was always willing to give a helping hand when he could. John will be missed by family and friends in the community. The memorial service was held in Semans United Church, Se-mans, Sask. on Thursday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Alison West officiating. Interment in Semans Cemetery at a later date.
