AAMODT
Aamodt: Helen Irene Aamodt (Budd) was born on January 7, 1931 on the Model Farm Homestead. She was the seventh of 12 children of Floyd and Sarah (Johnson) Budd. Helen was the first born on this homestead. Her siblings, Eugene, Joyce, Alvin, Pearl, James, Ruth, Veva, Iva, Lloyd, Norval and Donald were very important to her. As a young girl Helen loved to read and learn. We’ve been told by her siblings “she figured out how to get her chores done quickly so she had time to read,” they thought that was why she did so well in school.
Helen attended Firefly School until completing Grade 8, and then took Grade 9 and 10 by correspondence, with Pearl Henderson as her tutor. Helen lived in residence in Elfros while completing Grades 11 and 12, graduating in 1947.
Helen worked as a Candy Striper at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lestock until she was 18; she was then old enough to pursue her career in Nursing at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. Helen lived in residence and made many lasting friendships during those years. Helen is a member of the St. Paul’s School of Nursing Alumni and attended many reunions. Upon completing her education in 1953, Helen returned to work at Lestock Hospital.
Helen met Oliver Aamodt, a quiet reserved man, at a local sports day dance. After a short courtship, they were married at the United Church Manse in Kelliher on February 15, 1954. Helen put her career on hold to raise her family consisting of five boys and five girls. Helen took pride in raising her family, maintaining her home and tending to the huge garden. Helen also spent time knitting, crocheting and sewing (she even made time to sew Halloween costumes) along with the usual day-to-day tasks.
Helen returned to work at Ituna Union Hospital when the children were old enough and worked there until she retired in 1992. A short time later Helen and Oliver moved to Foam Lake. While in Foam Lake, Helen devoted her time to her husband’s care, enjoyed her involvement with the Women’s Institute and TOPS organizations.
Helen always enjoyed the chance to see her family and their family gatherings. She also enjoyed reading, doing puzzle books, watching game shows, watching the news, doing puzzles, listening to old time music and playing games.
Helen was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd and Sarah Budd; husband Oliver (2000); brothers Eugene (Lorna), Alvin (Margaret), James (Joanne) and Lloyd; sisters Joyce (Raymond) Reidel and their daughter Sandra, and Pearl (Joe) Beros; parents-in-law Hans and Anna Aamodt; brother-in-law Leroy; sisters-in-law Ethel (Mandt) Wilson and their daughter Martha Flaig, Mildred (Cam) King and Gladys (in infancy); brothers-in-law Philip Hoover and George Bast.
Helen leaves to celebrate and rejoice in her memory; her children, Elizabeth; Eric and step-daughter Tori Fredland; Karen; Mary Lou (Travis) Brandt and their family Trevor (Heather) and children Ava and Oriana, Terry (Penny) and daughter Seraphina; Neil (Marianne) and their family Audrey (Mike), Brian (Diane) and their children Kiara, Carter and Kylie; Christina (Bret) Santo and children Briggs and Bristol, Aimee and children Geo and Lily Cavanagh; Ronald (Wanda) and their family Megan and Madison; Donna (Willy) Zuchkan and their family Kim (Ryan) Onufreychuk and their children Paige, Lea and Meg; Kristen (Trent) Ducherer and their children Blake and Eli; Ryan (Teagan); Kelsey (Keifer); Wayne (Dave); Judi; and Brent (Jaime) and children Gabe and McKenzie. Her siblings Ruth Hoover, Iva (George) Cooper, Veva Bast, Norval (Vera), Donald (Loreen); sister-in-law Hazel Budd and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Helen will always be remembered as a quiet, kind, loving, loyal and proud but humble woman.

COOPER
Cooper: George Cooper was born March 13, 1924 at the family farm at West Bend, Sk. He was the eldest son of James and Ellen (Phillips) Cooper. From 1925 to 1933, six more children, Letitia, Anne, Tom, Ellen, Bill and Joe completed the family.
George received his first five years of education at Gilbert School, followed by a year of instruction at the Henderson home while the new Firefly School was being built. Most of his Grade 9 – 12 classes were obtained through correspondence courses with George making his way into Kelliher once or twice a week for chemistry and physics classes. In the fall of 1942, he enrolled into the two-year School of Agriculture program at the University of Saskatchewan. He graduated in 1944 and returned to the family farm to help his dad.
A new chapter of his life began in 1956 when he invited neighbour Iva Budd to attend the evening horse show at the annual Regina Bull Sale. In August of 1957, George chose the romantic setting of Victoria Park in Regina to propose. She said yes and they were married at John Wesley United Church on June 14, 1958. To this union was born four children – James Stuart (1959), Barry Owen (1961), Carol Ellen (1962) and Sheldon Floyd (1964).
George was a farmer, purebred shorthorn breeder and family man who wore many hats. He served on a number of local, provincial, national boards/committees, most of which were linked to the agricultural industry. He also dedicated 23 years of leadership to the local 4-H grain and beef clubs of which all four children were active members. Education in its various forms was important to George and this belief was pressed upon his children and all went on to complete post-secondary programs.
Over the years at many family gatherings, George would proudly state how he and his three brothers and then his three sons all held School of Agriculture diplomas. His agricultural roots ran deep as evidenced by his and Iva’s participation in the Sod-Buster program – a capital fundraiser that saw its goal realized when the new College of Agriculture was officially opened in the fall of 1991.
Despite the many hours the farm demanded, time was found for family trips and international travel for he and Iva. They visited many European countries, New Zealand, Australia, Canadian provinces and American states. From 1987 – 1989, George and Iva lived in the Sudan where he was the agricultural farm manager on a 10,000 acre joint project between CIDA (Canadian Government International Development Agency) and the Government of Sudan. This allowed them to also travel to neighbouring African countries.
George semi-retired from the farm and he and Iva moved into their newly constructed house in Foam Lake on December 5, 1990. The ensuing retirement years were busy with local service groups, travel, bowling, golfing, an annual fishing trip and many family milestones. Despite different health issues, George was able to remain in the family home until March of this year and then he moved into Foam Lake Jubilee Home. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 2.
George was predeceased by his parents, James and Ellen (Phillips) Cooper, parents-in-law Floyd and Sarah Budd, sister Letitia and brother-in-law Al Tomlin, sister Anne and brother-in-law Ken Hall, brother-in-law Glen Harris, Budd brothers-in-law Eugene (Lorna), Alvin (Margaret), James (Joanne) and Lloyd, sisters-in-law Joyce (Raymond) Riedel, Pearl (Joe) Beros and Helen (Oliver) Aamodt, brothers-in-law George Bast, Phillip Hoover; niece Sandra Cockle and nephew Don Tomlin.
George is survived by his life partner of 58 years, Iva, their children, James (Rhonda); Barry (Cindy), children Bradley and Katlyn; Carol (Steve) Zunti, children Lori (Akash) Zunti-Ramjeeth, Melanie; Sheldon (Tammie), children Amanda (daughter Aubrie Cooper – Van Ham) and Audra; sister Ellen Harris, brothers Tom (Josie), Bill (Gail) and Joe (Joyce) and in-laws Ruth Hoover, Veva Bast, Norval (Vera) Budd; Donald (Loreen) Budd; Hazel Budd and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Foam Lake Jubilee Home for their excellent care of George. Donations in George’s memory may be made to the Foam Lake United Church, Foam Lake Jubilee Home or a charity of one’s choice.
The funeral service for George Cooper, March 13, 1924 – August 2, 2016, was held Friday, August 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the Foam Lake United church with Cindy Goodman officiating.
Organist was Helen Kosmonek. Memorial book attendant was Virginia Kreklevich. Urn bearer was Bradley Cooper.

DVERNICHUK
Dvernichuk: Miles was born on September 30, 1959 in Foam Lake to Walter and Irene Dvernichuk (nee Lazorko). He attended school in West Bend and Foam Lake.
After graduation he obtained his welding certificate and then his 1A license. Miles loved to drive and started at the Bankend Co-Op where he worked for a number of years, with the last several at the Foam Lake Co-Op. In the spring and fall when he wasn’t at work he devoted his time to the family farm. Between his job, the farm and all of his visiting, he put on many, many kilometers (MILES). He was an active member in the community and served on numerous boards including the Ag Board, Credit Union Board and Veselka Committee.
Miles’ work allowed him to meet many people and once you met him you never forgot him and you were a friend forever. Miles particularly loved children and was often seen giving them money to buy a little something for themselves. We wonder how he ever had any change left in his pockets. For many summers he enjoyed working security at Leslie Beach where most disputes would be handled with talking and humour. Miles was a strong, gentle man; unless you tried to beat him at arm wrestling.
He loved his family and friends deeply, openly and honestly, a man of deep integrity who wouldn’t hurt a fly and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. He had a strong faith in God and served many years at both Edmore and Foam Lake Orthodox Churches.
When it came to his relationship with his nieces and nephews, it was truly special. He enjoyed every opportunity to be at hockey and baseball games, dance recitals and Christmas concerts (never in the forefront, always in the background, usually visiting).
He had a very witty sense of humour. You would never know where a conversation was going, but it would always end with a laugh, a wink or a little elbow.
Miles will forever be remembered by his parents Walter and Irene Dvernichuk of West Bend, sister Karen of Saskatoon, sister Yvonne (Colin Bowers) of Saskatoon, sister Lisa (Kelvin) Fedak and sons Derek, Dakota and girlfriend Richelle of Regina and brother Darren (Tricia) and daughters Kara and Kaitlin of Foam Lake.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Nicolai and Irene Dvernichuk and maternal grandparents Fred and Annie Lazorko.
The celebration of life for Miles Dvernichuk, born September 30, 1959 and passed away February 7, 2015, was held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Foam Lake Community Hall with Terry Tompkins officiating.
Pianist was Cecile Halyk. Guest book attendants were Lenore Gudmundson and Kara and Kaitlin Dvernichuk. Eulogist was Zenneth Faye.
Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Miles’ life”.
Pallbearers were Colin Bowers, Kelvin Fedak, Michael Dvernichuk, Derek Fedak, Kevin Woitas and Dakota Fedak.
	Interment was at Edmore Cemetery.
Tompkin’s Funeral Home was in care of arrangements.
